Just wanted to let people know that are going through the same process as me at the moment that my wifes spouse visa was approved today.

Submitted 19 april 2010 approved 3 june 2010. roughly 1.5months total.

The application was submitted in person at the brisbane immigration office, no communication what so ever other than an email to let me know they have the

application and its in the queue to be processed. No interview or request for further paperwork.

My wife has been here since September last year on a fiancee visa, married 16th Jan 2010. Submitted Aus police check with application, not asked for medical or police check from

Thailand as it had been done on the previous fiancee application and they were still valid.

I was surprised that I didnt receive any email notification that the visa had been granted and that they sent the grant notice via auspost without registered mail. I would hate to think

what would have happened if the visa had been denied and the notice got lost in the post. I would have never have known the outcome and my wife would have been an illegal alien with no idea that we could appeal the decision.

Also, very little was explained in her grant notice, it was 2 pages of telling us the visa had been granted and conditions attached to visa. No visa number was specified and they didnt ask for passport to be submitted for a visa label. Only thing asked of me was that I contact immigration at the 22 month mark to discuss the permanent visa decision.

Anyway, the long wait is over, no more money to hand over for visa's and my wife is finally on her way to becoming an Australian Citizen.

Troy.
