george
Govt tightens controls on caffeine beverages BANGKOK: -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is planning to tighten the enforcement of advertising regulations for beverages containing caffeine, amid growing concern that inappropriate advertising is encouraging consumers to take caffeine in excessive quantities. Regulations which came into effect in October 2003 theoretically ban advertisements of caffeine beverages in which consumers are lured with giveaways or prizes. But FDA Secretary-General Pakdee Pothisiri admitted today that companies were continuing to violate the ban, and were posing a health risk to consumers as a result. The FDA recently called the manufacturers of caffeine beverages to a meeting, in which they were warned that they would be allowed to continue their current advertising campaigns until they expired, but that after then the legislation would be strictly enforced. --TNA 205-06-27 Call Radio Bangkok's Voice mail and leave your comments on this article: Dial 0-2207-2677 Int. calls: +66 2 2072677
taxidriver
They should ban it between 3-5pm, like the beer. That seems to be a real problem solver. Edited June 27, 2005 by taxidriver

Coffee has never had any effect on me, never kept me awake or caused me to get twitchy, nervous, etc. We get it in our heads that coffee or cola causes certain reactions and then the mindset comes into play and we react accordingly. If you just don't buy into it early on, it has no material effect whatsoever. All too often, we let "spin" and "hype" dictate how we live and the mind is an awfully powerful tool.
