lovelomsak
I was just checking the bank exchange rates and Bangkok bank and Siam bank are both giving more baht for Canadian Dollars and Australian dollars than they are for American. This must be a first.
neverdie
Maybe so, but thats not an actual reflection of this exact moments, present exchange rate. But the Aussie went so close to reaching parity with the USD today, (99 cents) highest its ever been since it was floated some 27 years ago. Interesting times. electau
Read here regarding the AUD. http://www.theage.com.au/business/australian-dollar-flirts-with-parity-20101008-16a55.html?autostart=1 The AUD reached 99.18 at 12.30am AEST. The highest since 1983 when the dollar was floated. Makes imports cheaper and exports dearer.

jsflynn603
Unless 1.01 is breached (on daily close!) on the USD/CAD there is a very good chance that the US $ will pop back up to $1.06. Since I arrive in six weeks, and since I hold what currency I have in Loonies, not dollars, and since I intend to sell them (exchange the Canadian for US$ on Monday, I hope that I am correct. Yes the US is in bad shape... but, uh... so is the rest of the world and especially with the Loonie there is a cyclical action and has been for many, many months. A stronger Canadian $ does not benefit Canada. Australia is farther removed, so I'm not quite sure how the Australian dollar will play out but I am still drinking wine that I purchased in late 2008 when US$100 got AU$160. Bottles that I paid $4US for are now selling (or rather not selling) priced at about US$14. Go figure, the value of the AUD versus the USD changes by a mere 50% and the price of a bottle of SE Australia Shiraz jumps by 300%. (Though to be fair, before the "crash" said bottles were selling for US$8. What fun! The most amazing part is that though the Australian wines are selling much slower these days, the average American doesn't seem to have even the slightest clue as to the changes that surround them.
