THAILIBAN
I have a 16 GB USB-stick (actually quite new and a quality-product - so I thought) full of photos. now the stick is not being recognized anymore by both my Comp and my netbook. does anybody know if there is someone in BKK who is a specialist with data-rescue / recovery at an affordable rate ? I mean, not that my life depends on those pics, but it would be a sad thing to lose many of them (parts of them have been backed-up before, but many have not) thanks

THAILIBAN
hello, thanks for the reply. I actually don't want that program (though it is interesting to read how it works if one have a clue about computers), but rather someone who is able to use such a program or similar properly and execute the recovery for me. I am not able to do that by myself as I am rather a Computer-Dummie. . Edited December 6, 2010 by THAILIBAN
urandom
i'm quite sure data recovery will be overpriced. don't you have any friend, coworker that could help? worst case, where do you live/work, i could try if you want (my fees: a coke zero)

But thanks for the offer, in case the need arises, I will certainly get back to you, though I usually store only PEPSI MAXXXXX in my fridge and not Coke Zero . me at Ramkamhaeng near Lamsalee junction
RKASA
You say it can't be seen anymore - are you plugging it into a running PC only or boot with it in. Following is what I have done before and it restored the mounting of a flash drive that was not safly removed and it is worth a try. Plug it into a running PC and shut down completely, then restart and boot the PC leaving the flash plugged in the whole time - do not remove it. You may then be able to surf the drive again. If so back it up and try to safe remove it again. I have a 8gb kingston that I have done this with and it had the same problem. Good Luck.
rgs2001uk
Sounds more like a bad USB port on your computer. Most PCs have at least 2 or 3 of them, try a different one, or go to one of the many internet shops in the area and plug it into one of theirs and see if that works. Have you tried plugging a different flash drive into both to see if they work?
