Taking Packaged Thai Sauce To The Uk?

Recommended Posts

is it ok to bring a bottled or packaged Thai sauce to the UK? This is for my girlfriend who is coming to the UK in 2 weeks.

Can probably find it in the UK, but will be easier to bring a bottle. Dont want to bring it in if it is illegal to do so (customs)

thanks

I have no idea on whether it's illegal or not, but I always bring back packet sauces/spices. I always pack them in my checked in luggage.

I don't bring back bottled items though for the fear of breaking whilst in transit.

Check with the food regulations for your customs department, but generally for most countries if the food product is shop bought and looks normal (keep the Tesco/Lotus receipt) you should have no problem. My wife had plenty of the small square plastic pouches sold at Big C for 9 Baht (price in 2005?). Even Pla-Ra was OK as it was within EU regulations for cooked fish products.
