kunash Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 is it ok to bring a bottled or packaged Thai sauce to the UK? This is for my girlfriend who is coming to the UK in 2 weeks. Can probably find it in the UK, but will be easier to bring a bottle. Dont want to bring it in if it is illegal to do so (customs) thanks
thecatman Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I have no idea on whether it's illegal or not, but I always bring back packet sauces/spices. I always pack them in my checked in luggage. I don't bring back bottled items though for the fear of breaking whilst in transit.
NamKAheng Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I don't know for UK but I always bring back package of Thai sauces, curries and bottle of sauces to Canada witout problem. I also bringing back a bag of dried chilis and prick pon (chili powder) without problem.
Cuban Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Check with the food regulations for your customs department, but generally for most countries if the food product is shop bought and looks normal (keep the Tesco/Lotus receipt) you should have no problem. My wife had plenty of the small square plastic pouches sold at Big C for 9 Baht (price in 2005?). Even Pla-Ra was OK as it was within EU regulations for cooked fish products.
JimShortz Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 No problem at all for entering the UK with a few sauces, so long as they are carried in checked baggage of course... See http://www.food.gov.uk/foodindustry/imports/imports_advice/personal_imp/ for details of what can/can't be taken.
