A Good friend has just had his wifes settlement visa granted but they have applied for the wrong date,(agents fault) can the embassey change the date or do they have to stic

k with date on visa?

You would need to be more specific :

  • has the visa been dated to start 90 days in advance of travel ?
  • Or is it valid now ?

My experience is they wont change the date and they will just look at the visa form & put the date you wanted it valid from. However should they make a mistake they are very keen to put things right rolleyes.gif .

From what you say, it appears that the wrong date was put on the form. That an agent did this is of no concern of the embassy; your friend's wife signed the form to say that it was complete and correct. Didn't your friend check it first?

The embassy will only change the date if the error is their fault; which in this case it appears it wasn't.

The visa will be valid for 27 months, and she only has to spend 24 months in the UK to be time qualified for ILR. So she still has plenty of time if the start date is too soon.

If it has been post dated, then she cannot use it until the start date on the visa.
