Rimmer Posted March 19, 2012 Share Posted March 19, 2012 Deputy Prime Minister orders urgent Gun Crime reduction in Pattaya PATTAYA:--Following a number of reported gun incidents in Pattaya on national Thai TV channels, the Deputy Prime Minister, Khun Chalerm, has ordered a sweep of Pattaya by the Police to suppress gun crime. In the early hours of Sunday, a team of 160 Police Officers met at Pattaya Police Station under the watchful eye of Police Major General Jamnong, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police who led teams around Pattaya, checking Pubs, Discotheques and suspicious-looking individuals on the streets. During the operation, Police were made away of a gang of young men on Jomtien Beach who were apparently shooting a gun into the air, in the direction of the water. Police converged on the location and detained an 18 year old man, Khun Tanaporn who was with 4 friends. Not easy to teach young Thais that they shouldn't use guns when they see them constantly on TV in everyday use. I totally agree, they fuzz out pictures of people smoking, but not for guns an knifes. Just another politician pressing the flesh, what he should be doing is telling the TV companies to change there content, instead of gangs & gun fights, lets see kids learning CPR and saving lives for instance.
