I am running windows xp and am trying to save ms-word file to compact disc (my computer has a cd and dvd burner).

However when i try to use the save as function in Word to burn the file to disc I get the following message.

"You do not have access to the folder "I:\" See your administrator for access to this folder."

Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem?

Save to C: (or any hard disk) close Word

Transfer to CD using you CDE burning tool of choice-- the one that comes with XP is OK for this job simply Insert the CD and it should ask you waht do you want to tr5ansfer to CD.

OR...use 'save as' to save your named MS Word document to "My Documents".

Insert your blank CD into your CD/DVD writer.

Open "My Computer" and "My Documents" in two separate windows and drag the named document icon to the CD/DVD writer icon......and take it from there.

As Ian says, the inbuilt facility in XP is OK for this simple copying to disk....but just.

You will be asked if you want to delete the temporary files used at the end of the process. select 'Yes'.
