pete66
OK, its probably too much to ask for but looking to take my Thai girlfriend out Saturday night to somewhere that offers: a) Authentic oven-cooked Italian Pizza (none of that Pizza Hut crap) Nice 'al fresco' setting, preferably with some greenery around, not concrete, concrete's not very romantic c) Someone in or very close to CM town, as our time is limited Saturday night Too much to ask for? You'll have to let me know. I'm sure some restaurant in CM must fit the bill. I just want to have a romantic evening with my girlfriend and show her what a real pizza is supposed to taste like, not the Pizza Hut / Pizza Company crap Thais get duped into believing is pizza. elektrified
You might try Girasole La Gondola right at Pratu Thapae. That should fit your requirements. Not a big garden setting but adequate.

hellodolly
Easy - Dukes riverside, best pizza in town. Which side of the river is that on? The East side in between the iron bridge and the one Tha pha road goes over the river on. I think it is called Narawhat. Or you can cross the Iron bridge turn left for about 200 to 300 feet. I know my Thai spelling sucks.

Probably the flying termites. This time of year outside dining at sunset may include extra protein Must also have something to do with temperature though as they are not always there. pete66
I think we'll try the Girasole La Gondola - nothing wrong with Dukes, had their pizza before and it was very good, just think the Girasole setting will be more appropriate and reviews on tripadvisor look very good. As for "get her some Thai food", wow, that's so romantic
maps424
Easy - Dukes riverside, best pizza in town. Best ribs sure but pizza is like 6/10 (and lower when they burn it which has been often in my experience). Find somewhere better if it's pizza you are after.

But Girasole has great pasta dishes for sure.

I like this one too for Italian style pizza. I prefer the Duke's personally, but this is good (and the tuna pasta is some of the best in town IMO). RaysFan
Puccini is AMAZING. I would say one of the most romantic restaurants in CM. Its an Italian restaurant ran by an Italian chef. The food is fantastic. They do Italian style pizza, its inexpensive and its BY FAR the best pizza Ive had in Thailand... I am very picky... Im from America, which has an amazing pizza joint on every corner. Just in general, Puccini, hands down has the best food in CM. 5 star on tripadvisor... http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293917-d3562355-Reviews-Puccini_Italian_Restaurant-Chiang_Mai.html Its right next to the Porn Ping hotel, near the night bazaar. Trujillo
Dukes has good taste, but only the outer parts of the pizzas are not soggy, and they cut their pizzas into squares, which is very bad. When you eat an inside piece, it's just sloppy. Also, remember if you sit outside, you are right on the river road and it's noisy and probably polluted. Dukes' pizza is best if you buy one and take it home and put it right in the fridge. Great eaten cold the next day.

I'd also go with Dukes; just make sure the irate boss ain't there. Alternatively, order a takeout (perhaps the place opposite Thapae Gate) and eat it in Buak Hat Park. terminatorchiangmai
La Villa , in the old center. Wood fired oven and a nice small garden. Try the vegetarian Focacia with tomatoes and lots of garlic, make sure you eat it both ,
