Civil lawsuits will also be launched, said BMA spokesperson Tridao Apaiwong. The consensus reached at the city council’s meeting on Monday is to remove unlicensed banners and phone booths. The motorcycle taxi stations will also be re-arranged.Tridao said that the transport office has awarded permission to over 8,000 ad banners. The office is now working on the mapping and district offices will check if the banners are located accordingly to the mapping."BMA also considers to lower the number of banners," she said.On motorcycle taxi, there will be a discussion with the Transport Ministry’s Transport Department over the parking stations. At present, many of them use footpaths as the parking stations though this is illegal. Popular Post uty6543
I have never had a problem with an ad banner that I can remember. Traders with their stalls, food carts with their tables and chairs, uneven paving slabs, motorcycle taxis riding on the pavements, kerbs sometimes a foot high but none of these problems seem important to the BMA.

Popular Post Carl64
Great! I hate the banners, always have to walk on the road to get around them. The worst is the banners in places so that it obstructs your view when driving and trying to turn left or right. That's why so many people creep across the road and block the traffic. They simply can't see because of the signs. Down right dangerous.

Popular Post HerbalEd
I'm fine with food vendors ... it wouldn't be Thailand without them. But the other stuff can definitely go. And a curse on all motorcycles ... moving & parked ... on the walkways. Soi Sauce
But we'll all die of starvation! Where will we all buy our dinners? Also, a lot of people will lose their liveliehoods. Maybe, though, this ties in with lowering the price of luxury goods. As we won't be able to buy the copies anymore, we'll all rush to buy the still over-priced, unneeded, originals. Makes the rich richer and further raises the cost of living for the proles. Typical PTP principles. Nice move.

Popular Post MikeENZ
Well they aren't messing around. About 100 cops, some massive trucks and a load of cleaning people hit Khoa San Road this afternoon... removed ALL the roadside stalls - I've never seen khao san like that (as opposed to normal monday afternoon cleanups) I've never actually been able to see the road/footpath or the shophouse entries on Khoa San before!

I saw something about 65k hookers in Pattaya, so wouldn't be suprised if there were 200k taxi drivers in Bangkok. Theres 5 or 6 on every street corner. koratkid2
There will always be talk of reform. Who will enforce the reform? The only Thais that seem to get off their butt to do anything are Lumpini park homeless "protestors" and parking attendants with a whistle. These are the only relentless Thais I see in our society.
