Khun Jean
Yesterday i did my visarun with ThaiVisaRun. Main reason was the 'normal' departure time 09:30. Convenient location at the Ekkamai BTS station. WHen you arrive you get some forms to sign. Forms are filled in for you later, and you hand over your passport. Comfy ride in a large bus with a lot of legroom. Not new anymore but very well maintained. No broken seats lights or anything faulty. Yesterday it was about 60% full. They stop at a gastation roughly halfway. Food you can choose from a very small menu but if you know Thai dishes it will be no problem to order it. Most on the menu are 'farang' save fried rice varieties. Free water and a Pepsi with the meal. Once at the border you will get your passport back, the employees use the passports to fill in the forms for you and check for overstay or other irregularities. You stamp out of Thailand and give your pasport to an employee who takes care of the in and out stamps for the cambodian side. Then you get your pasport back and you do the entry to Thailand. Employees advice you to check the stamp date and when wrong they will help you to correct it. Then back on the bus. During travel they show a few movies. It was suggested by a few passengers to lower the volume, but that only helped a litle bit. If you really want to see the movies make sure you sit not too far from the tv in the front or the 'fold out' lcd in the middle. Arrived back at Ekkemai BTS station eround 19:00. About 30 minutes later than scheduled which is not bad when you consider Bangkok traffic. I would rate it perfect but because the sound was too loud i rate it good. Add some detail i forgot: The border at Ban Laem is a great improvement if you are there for a visarun only. The whole process is about 10 minutes. A big difference if compared to Aranyaprathet, there it can take up to 2 hours or more. Aranyaprathet has the big market and the casinos. Good when you want to spend time, but a big nuisance if you only want to get a new visa. Edited June 30, 2006 by Khun Jean
dantilley
I did a Fineday Tours visa run today which was also excellent and, from the sound of the ThaiVisaRun one described by Khun Jean, probably better. Left from Asoke at 6:20am - ouch! But the upside to this is that I arrived back in BKK at 4pm, and personally I'd much rather come back earlier than leave later. But each to their own... No movies on the way to the border as people generally all wanted to sleep. Free newspapers, water and fruit are provided - the newspapers being a particularly nice touch I think. At the border, which was the much better southern border at Pong Nam Ron, probably the same one as ThaiVisaRun by the sound of it, had a very tasty all-you-can-eat buffet in the casino there, a good selection of Thai and Farrang food. Sounds better than the petrol station stopover food which, in my experience, is usually very bland. After buying some very good value wine from the duty free, we headed back and were treated to "Collateral" and "Scary Movie 3" on the way back to Bangkok. Back at 4pm. Staff very friendly and helpful and all in all a quick, efficient and comfortable service for 2,000 Baht. Edited July 1, 2006 by dantilley
thaiman
Jack's Golf bus broke down this week and I was on it. Sucked! Was delayed comming back into BKK. chose wisely.
wave
Used ThaiVisaRun last week and very happy with them. Left from Ekkamai at a civilised 9.30am and back in Bangkok at 6.45pm. Went to Ban Laem Border which is some much nicer and faster that Aranya. Bus was clean and also about 60% full so plenty of room. All the visa processing was well taken care of. Food a bit bland but perfectly fine and eaten on the bus. Good selection of movies but would agree a bit loud and made sleep a bit difficult. Really no complaints and will use again. I've previously used Jack Golf leaving at 5.30am from Soi 12 back in Bangkok 3.30-4.30pm. Most of the time they use a big bus but on a few occasions it's been a minibus which I really don't like. Bus is usually 80% and up full and a bit tired. Sometimes Ban Laem sometimes Aranya. You get a lunch in the Casino but the foods never that great I find! Comparing the two I found ThaiVisaRun to feel a bit more civilised. I came back feeling a lot less tired than I usually do with Jack Golf. Both cost the same 2000bt. BongBong
Jack's Golf bus broke down this week and I was on it. Sucked! Was delayed comming back into BKK. chose wisely.Check their advertisement at Bangkok post, it says new buses. Apparently Jack Golf lied about this bit. From what I heard recently, their buses broke down a few times already, at least twice only last week. How could that happen to the new buses? Roobar
Jack Golf started with a green bus which is now four years old. 700 km per day for the visa run, its mileage must be over one million km.
Gazza
Nowadays I go with the casino bus.Leaves: 4:00 am (about) Arrival Poi Pet: 7:00 am (about) Return: noon Arrival Bangkok: 4:00 pm Cost: THB 100 one way. Friendly staff. No check if you visit the casinos or not. Sniffy, any idea if the casino buses have pick up points on route and other times of departure? Visarun buses don't really concern me because I like to stay overnight in Aran. Anyone ever gambled at the casinos? Do they give you a nights free-stay when buying 10K's worth of chips? visarunner
From my own experience both buses from JG are getting a lot of milage and are breaking down frequently. Last Wednesday the newer, blue bus broke down on the way back , complete engine failure , a lot of unhappy people. Couple of weeks ago the same bus was involved in an accident near the new Airport , happened to just pass by and customers were transferred to JG Golfminivan. At the moment JG use the "famous" green bus for the Ban Laem trips which is slow and shows signs of aging . Thai VisaRun is using now a big bus and ThaiVisaService is using a new VIP Van. Eugen
In an earlier post I mentioned that ThaiVisaRun and ThaiVisaService are really OK. Just did my run on Monday , 3.7.06 with ThaiVisaService and would like to share my positive experience with you. Meeting is at 07.30am in Lotos/Tesco's Foodcourt next to the BTS Station OnNut. After filling out the paperwork we left 08.00am,total 7people in a comfortable , new Van. We were not bothered by BKK Traffic are we left and returned via Expressway. Morn was handling the run and after a "comfort stop" we reached the border just before 12.00. Passed Thai Immigration without any delay and their Cambodian Visa Agent took care of the paperwork while we enjoyed the Food in the casino . Fruit and Coffee are added as a freebie . After some discussions it was time to go back ,we stamped back into Thailand and were back in BKK by 17.15, as we had some heavy rain on the way , but time passed very fast as we watched a new movie . Can recommend the Service as it was not crowded , fast and very convenient. Two thumbs up

sniffdog
Used, as usual, the casino bus again. Best deal ever! - Transfer to Poi Pet - Free Lunch - Free return transfer THB 100 per person. No reason to use these THB 2,000 visa run tours! (for as long as it lasts). Edited July 7, 2006 by sniffdog

No reason to use these THB 2,000 visa run tours! (for as long as it lasts). Getting up at 3 in the morning is not worth it to me. There is only one of the visa run buses that has a leisurely departure from BKK at 9:30a and I prefer that. And your price comparison does not seem fair because it does not include the 1000 baht (or $20 USD) cambo visa. Yeah, it's a good deal, but maybe not for everyone. Khun Jean
And probably a driver who thinks he is a formula one racer. No mini van for me, as it seems ALL of the drivers are crazy and very irresponsible. I speak from experience with at least 10 tours in mini vans. First i thought it was just bad luck to have such a driver, but 10 out of 10! None of them drove 'normal'. Only trains, big busses and planes now for travel inside Thailand. visarunner
No idea , but the claimed travelling time is a total lie. BKK-Ban Laem is at least 3 hours 45min one way and this fellow is crawling through BKK !! Be aware. Just found this post on Ajarn , where also a Newbie post an AD for this service, by the first reply the offer can't be fully correct. At least the time they claim can not be achieved , the other offer seems too good to be true , who can through money out and offer discounts etc .like this ?? The webside is done nicely , but no pics of car or owner of the company. This business is a lot about who run the show, Mr.Jack is well known , Phil from ThaiVisaRun as well , so any newbie will drop out very fast . Most of my friends use a service they got recommended by other friends as they do not want to be have a problem on such a inconvenient day. jwb
Well but if they mean the time it takes to to only drive, not including stops and visa process, then 3 hours per way makes sense....I drove once with a mate and in less then 3 hours we were at the border....if they are using a coach, no way, but with a van and a good driver, I guess it's a can do... By the way, I got the feeling that behind this company there is a foreigner....too much of marketing and promotions that are not the typical cup of tea of Thais/Asian... It would be interesting to have a report from one of their first passengers...let's see... Edited July 9, 2006 by jwb
visarunner
No way and why claim something impossible. I run a successfull Tour Company and we often go to Soi Doi Golfcourse which is close to Ban Laem , but 3hours 45 min is best , from BKK centre , one way. We use new VIP Van's and good/rested drivers and stop once for 10-15min , the route varies between Sa Kaew or Chantaburi , depends on the program . ThaiVisaRun.com had a van service in the past, and we all know they are the quickest, but the earliest time they came back was 5:30 pm, totally seven and half hours trip. They always tell you they will be back between 6:30 to 7:00 pm. I think if your new guys wish to make a living from this visarun business, honesty is very important.
