LOWH
Hello, Well, I'm a native Thai-Chinese. I was wondering around to find some informations of Thai/western and I ended up here. It's interesting to hear and read about what you, western people, think of my country and Thai people. I've learned interesting words you guys used so far, like hi-so Chinese, used goods (for Thai widows.)...And it's even more interesting because.... after all your complains and problems with this Land of Smile, yet you all struggling to get here/ to have a life here. Let's say I'm here to learn about you. And I'll keep watching you people in the dark. Call me a shadow. I'm a voice and ears for Thai ladies. Have a nice day.

ChrisThailand
Comrades I'm Chris and I've just become a member of Thai Visa I've been in Thailand for around 15 years and, in the past, have been a member of 'soc.culture.thai' and 'pattaya adicts' as well as several other fora but just sort of lost interest in typing and fell by the wayside a little I've enjoyed reading several discussions as a visitor here recently and so thought I'd jump behind my keyboard and join in I live and work in Bangers with my beautiful (Thai) wife and young (half-Thai) daughter and I'm not as young as I used to be That's all Chris

Stargeezer9889
Hi I am fairly new to this forum. I am from Alberta Canada, I am retired and in my 60s enjoying life as an amateur astronomer, or Stargazer, hence the Stargeezer title. I am not from the oil sector of this province and I only wished I could have earned even half the money that the managers, or many others in that field have earned before they retired. I worked at many airports in Western Canada through out my career. Part of the job was observing weather so I had many nights to observe the stars as well. I look forward to reading the post of other members on this forum as well as seeing and posting some pictures in the future of places and things that I have seen in various parts of Thailand. Stargeezer N Note to administration: please close my Stargrazer account as I have had a few glitches with it and will not be using it again.
Stargeezer9889
For Rupertsilva10 in Phuket, there are many places to stay, in Phuket Town, Kata or Karan Beach, Patong Beach, and other nice places. The swimming is great as it on the calm side of Thailand most of the time. I stay at Hua Hin area as well and have enjoyed my visits there. The beaches are nice for sun bathing and tanning, but the beach is shallow and waves are present most of the time as it on the windward side. Over at Baan Saen and Pattaya Jomtien and along that area the chance to swim is a bit better but many beaches are a bit more polluted. Out from Pattaya there is an island Kho Laan, ( I think) that has good swimming etc. I have spent many weeks in Bangkok BKK as my Thai family live there. Lots of things to see and visit in BKK as there are many, many, temples and museums around the city. If you want to see the mountain areas, head north toward Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Mae Hong son, or along the Thailand's west border areas, as there is a lot of good scenery for you. I am new to this forum, and hope to be able to get lots of News, stories, advice etc. from it, but I have been going to Thailand since the 1980s. Some day I hope to spend more of my Winters there, likely in Hua Hin or somewhere in Phuket. Now known as Stargeezer! Which means I am a bit of a dinosaur on the computer and make many more mistakes than I used to when I was a younger person.

Taunusianer
Is it to late to introduce myself after exactly 4 year I am member here? Let me try: I travel to Thailand since 2004. mostly 1 or 2 times a year. At the beginning Thailand was more or less the hub to go on to other countries in Asia, but for the moment I seems that my travel desires are concentrating more and more on Thailand itself. With different intensity I learn the Thai language since 2007. So please excuse my poor English language skills but I am more interested in Asian language at all. I started to learn the autodidactic way, joined an evening school for 2-3 years and currently I concentrate on reading the news. So my understanding of written Thai is not that bad and writing by myself is also ok, but I have a really poor ability to understand spoken Thai. Ahh, one thing not to forget: I love the Isaan and I am really bored about most of the farang places in LOS. Taunusianer (ahh, about my nick: The 'Taunus' is an upland in central Germany next to Frankfurt where I am coming from. So for all of you who love bashing Germans (and I know here are more than one of those) here is another one you have to deal with. But don't expect to much input on that from my side cause I am busy enough with more important things )

relocate
Hi all, new to the forum. I am from Australia and will be making a slow transition to Thailand to setup some companies over there. The first trip will be getting our house cleaned and ready for regular visits (only really been setup for holiday house), the first trip will be for about 2 months then we are looking to spend around 2 months in Thailand then a week in Australia each trip as I still have some companies here that will remain open for a little while until they make the jump also. Looking forward to the move so joined the forum to get some information from people who have made the move and getting some ideas on what is ahead. I have a wife who is originally from Thailand and a number of connections over there so have no issues with getting around and setting things up however I really need to start learning more Thai. I look forward to chatting in the future and in the mean time it looks like I have a few posts to catch up on as there is a lot of good information on this site. Cheers, Brad

gt40Dave
Hi Max, welcome, I am new here myself, currently on holiday. A friend who has a physics degree sent me a paper on 'Constructor Theory' I just started reading, doubtless I will struggle to understand, but that's part of the fun! I am just a mechanical engineer myself but always have an interest in such things. Sent from my Tablet
