Good rave about 'Vejthani' International hospital

I have tried most of the International hospitals in Bangkok and I would highly recommend going to Vejthani International in central bkk.

Its a modern hospital with excellent specialists and it kind of feels like a mini Bumrungrad- at half the price. There are a lot of International patients in the hospital (from Saudi) and a lot of high sot thai's.

They have excellent heart specialists and their Dental department (Dentalis) is really good- all specialities including the best oral pathologists in Thailand and GP dentists.

When I first started going there I asked if there was a free shuttle bus from the city. The answer was no but if you call the International desk at the hospital they will arrange a driver to pick you up and drop you back.

The standard of care in this hospital exceeds Bumrungrad and is much cheaper.

In any hospital, the skill of the doctors varies with the individual. Always chose the doctor, not the hospital. There are some excellent doctors at Vejthani but if you rely on the hospital itself to guarantee a good doctor sooner or later you'll have a negative experience.

I'm pleased the OP has only had positive experiences at Vejthani. My last experience there (I'm not going back) was made awful by the billing department. It's not much fun arguing that they had made a mistake with the bill by more than ten thousand Baht when you're very woozy after a general anaesthetic. (And yes, in the end they admitted I was right.) These days I tend to use Samitivej Srinakarin, which is fairly close by.

I tried Vejthani and found it excellent. When looking at the Dr's profiles its best to check if they went to a government uni. All the best specialists go to the government uni's as opposed to the private one where daddy pays - thus less intelligent as they were not smart enough for entry to the govt' uni.

I find Bumrungrad a complete rip off. Its just a name but you will pay almost double what you do at Vejthani or Bangkok hospital.

I agree - search for the doctor, not the hospital - I'd also add to check what international experience they have and any research papers. Some hospitals have better websites than others; once you have found a doctor who appears knowledgeable do another search for that name and you will often find that he or she also works at a cheaper hospital smile.png

In my recent experience, after four useless dermatologists I found the best one locally at Ramkhamhaeng Hospital. It is a Thai private hospital but the dermo speaks very good English. So luck also plays a part! Was especially lucky for me as I was maybe days away from a complete system failure... but that's another story!
