How easy is it, to find its auto parts in Bangkok, when repair is needed? Is there any Volkswagen dealer in BKK? Any garage where I can take it, for repair? Thanks a million. taxexile Posted June 1, 2006 Share Posted June 1, 2006 there is a specialist vw /audi / benz repair shop in washington square , (sukhumvit rd. between soi 22 and the emporium) . next to the rear entrance to the dubliner irish pub you will find a workshop that seems to deal exclusively with old and not so old audis , benz and vw's. they also have an extensive parts department. they also have a shop door entrance on sukhumvit , but if you take your car there for repair , you need to drive into washington square , either from sukhumvit , or from soi 22. moonoi Posted June 1, 2006 Share Posted June 1, 2006 (edited) Theres a dealer on Rama IV rd right outside the Khlong Toei MRT station Forgot to add though that your probably better off buying one thats already been imported. If your able to get a license to import the car you'll pay a duty between 100-200% on the new value of the car plus tea money.....just do a search on this forum about importing cars.......the general consensus is forget about it....one of the forum members (tuk tuk mike) lost his car to the customs auction house after an outrageous import duty assessment. I luckily have a duty-free privilege, and so tax shouldn't be a problem. Yet I am a bit hesitant due to a concern of what if I do not like the car, after arrival and after I see the car with my own eyes. gosmond Posted June 13, 2006 Share Posted June 13, 2006 Being an admirer of VW Passats, having owned a few in the UK, I decided to buy one a few years back when I was in Thailand for 6 months. It turned out to be a big mistake. When we put it in for repair, it cost a fortune and trying to sell it almost impossible. Thais just do not like VW's. In fact when we were back in Thailand at Xmas - the dealer was just in the process of selling it - 2 years after he bought it off us!! Finding a mechanic / repair shop really isn't an issue compared to the nightmare of bringing it into the country... I've been using Diamond Auto (023183976) to service my '96 Audi A4. Excellent, honest service, very reasonable prices. I notice that they also service VWs and have some for sale. Tricky to get to: go north over Ekamai flyover at New Petchaburi - you'll see the Diamond sign on the right - but turn immediately LEFT and go back under the bridge to get to the other side.
