ICT Minister will appoint the board of CAT Telecom within next week

ICT Minister Suchai Charoenrattanakul (สุชัย เจริญรัตนกุล) will appoint the board of CAT Telecom Plc. within next week.

Md. Suchai, who is also deputy prime minister, said the board will be appointed within next week in order for it to start pushing for continuity in Thai Mobile. After the successful appointment of the board Md. Suchai will enter the board meeting by himself to listen to conclusions regarding the matter between TOT and CAT over the purchasing of Thai Mobile shares.

So far the the purchasing price has yet to be agreed upon, and Md. Suchai said should the two sides not be able to agree upon a price then the ICT Ministry will designate one.

The minister also said his ministry will accelerate the merging of TOT and CAT, because the two agencies have the potential to compete with the private sector but so far they have been offering services that compete against one another.

Should the two be merged strength in business would be created.

Until the private sector is allowed in, this will just create a total monopoly in the telecoms sector. :o

100% correct, totally going backwards, this is not what Thailand needs right now, the mobile and internet infrastructure are getting worse by the day....................they have cut the Mobile bandwidth/quality down so far that I often go look for a landline because i cannot make out what the person is saying, totally useless, broadband internet is now slower than dialup

That's progress Thai style
