PHUKET: -- Fire broke out in the well known Jao Mae Ya Nang Shrine in Phuket Town this morning (August 11).

Sanjai Choisong 59, who reported the fire, said that she was making the tea for the offerings area at the shrine on Krabi Rd when she heard a sizzling sound like an electrical short. She went out and saw the fire.

She and others tried to put the fire out but failed, so she then phoned for help at about 8:20am.

Fireman took some 30 minutes to put out the fire. No one was hurt.
