How to change the password to log in to my router ‘s wifi signal?

I have 3bb broadband and I wish to change the password for people who log in to the router’s wifi system.

I have Googled on this and all I can find is how to change the password on the 3bb website for which the default /password is ‘admin/3bb’. This is not what I want to do.

I am not very tech savvy, so can someone please explain how to change the password to log in to the wifi.

Thank you

If you lookup and write down the model number of the router one could give you the exact description.

On my TPLink it is found under:

Wireless -> Wireless Security -> Wireless Password

how to change the password on the 3bb website for which the default /password is ‘admin/3bb’. This is not what I want to do.

You should do this ALSO !

Safes you router from being hacked/abused from outside (internet).

Its an incredible joke how these routers are setup.

Thousands of routers in Thailand (3bb, Tot, ...) are easily accessible/controllable via the internet.

A hackers/spambot paradise.

<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Connect you pc to the router, open your browser type 192.168.1.1 hit enter, type your password admin/3bb then go to wireless setting and it should be self explanatory.

Could also be 192.168.2.1

If a password is required should be admin ???????????? maybe

If nothing happens when you type 192.168.1.1 and hit Enter, it might be because you have Network Discovery disabled on your computer.

To check, go to Windows Control Panel | Network and Sharing Center | Change advanced sharing settings and then checkmark "Turn on network discovery". Save and exit and then try 192.168.1.1 again.

Don't forget to disable Network Discovery again afterwards.

For such a setup you can also (better) connect to the router via Ethernet cable (assuming you have one).

If a password is required should be admin ???????????? maybe

Misunderstood?

for which the default /password is ‘admin/3bb’

Username: admin

Password: 3bb

And DO CHANGE this "3bb" password ALSO as mentioned.

Thank you for all the replies. I didn't realise that I had to log into the 3bb website to change the wifi password as I didn't see anything on the website about the pw after I logged in; but have now found the relevant 'page' where the password can be changed.

I have now changed the router password from '3bb' as recommended by several posters.

Unfortunately, I now realise that changing wifi password doesn't solve my problem.

The problem I am trying to solve is similar to the one I had when running my bar (now sold). I have a 14 year old step son who has a small Acer netbook, but I want to restrict his access to the internet as he has developed quite a serious gaming habit, and I don't want him to spend his life watching stupid you tube videos. (I have already taken away his smart phone after he stole 3,000 Baht to feed his gaming habit.)

What I want to do is open the internet for him for (say) a couple of hours to do sensible activities under supervision and then make him log out, but still let him use his computer for other activities, off line.

I thought I could do this by changing the wifi password and not telling him what it is and then logging into the internet for him (without him seeing the password). I now realise that won't work as he can easily find the password by going to the 'properties' of the wifi connection when he is logged in.

So is there any way I can restrict his wifi access - without having to change the wifi password every day - so that he can't log in without my permission?

Please don't get too technical, or I will be lost...

Thank you.smile.png

Haha. That is a completely different and much more complex problem to solve tongue.png

Maybe in the end you will fail with technical measures.

Internet and game/betting addiction are serious education topics.

Can not help with that.

Technical (and sorry it is deeply technical):

one simple solution that some routers offer is a dedicated control/lockout of certain devices (based on the MAC adress of their network adress).

So with your newly changed admin password (which the boy should not get to know!) you can find a feature named like:

"Parent Control"

on my router it allows control of access time as well as blocking certain URLs.

And/or:

on the laptop you could install specialised "parental control" software.

I have close to no knowledge about this.

If you are not into technical details you might really need help on-site.

I myself forunately have no need for the above (all good girls in the family, no boys).

The only restriction I configure is bandwidth control.

I sometimes have up to nine devices connecting to my WiFi biggrin.png

Thanks for that.

I've had a look at the 3bb website and there is a whole section entitled 'Access Management' but I'm afraid it's all pretty much gobbledegook to me. I guess you're right, I'm going to need someone who can talk me through it.

Just a heads up ... that's not the 3bb website. That's actually your local modem/router/WiFi box you're connecting to. To make it easier for 'consumers' to configure, the router software has a 'web interface'. You're only connecting to the box.

If you want to control your step-son's access, you may want to purchase a separate WiFi Access Point that either comes with Parental Control / Bandwidth Control, or a unit that can easily have special software installed. Doing so will allow you to continue to connect to the original WiFi (not sharing the Password with anyone else) and the additional WiFi Access Point you can control remotely.

I've seen some software modules that will link to outside services that LOG all connections for later review, and let you block site access on a site-by-site basis.

Though, while I think technology is pretty nifty, if at all possible I think it's better to have a working trusting relationship with the people around you. Unfortunately that usually requires ongoing positive interpersonal transactions. But offering limited Internet Access is better than none at all.

3BB Router Password List

3BB Model Default Username Default Password NT3BB-4PWN admin 3bb NT3BB-1PWN-124 admin 3bb

its going to useful to you, as if you want to change the password,

How to Reboot your Router

Rebooting a router means cycling the power to it. If you want to reboot your router, follow these steps:

  • Unplug the power connector from the back of the router and plug it back in.
  • Wait about 30 seconds for the router to reboot.
  • Your internet connection will drop when your router is rebooted. If someone is using a computer on your network to access the internet, you may want to warn them.
How to Reset Your Router

When you reset your router the following settings are changed:

  • Router username and password
  • Wi-Fi username and password
  • ISP username and password
  • Any portforwards you have set up
  • Any firewall settings you have made
  • Basically, any configuration changes that you have made to your router.

As you can probably tell from the list above, resetting your router is serious business. Proceed with caution.

Wireless Router

The process of resetting your wireless router is the same. Find the reset button located on the back of the router. Use a pin, paper clip, or thumbtack to press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds or until the lights on the router change.
