sunshine51
OK TVF members...time to fess up. How many of us have slurped instant noodles? Be honest. Me....hundreds...perhaps thousands of times since I first saw a cup of "Nissin Cup Noodle" back in 1973 out here in these parts. Not great, not bad either & with a few fresh additions it becomes pretty darn good quick grub IMO. I wonder...how many makers of instant noodles there are today? Hint...back in 2005, 85.7 billion packets of instant noodles had been consumed worldwide...... https://web.archive.org/web/20080307055202/http://www.time.com/time/asia/2006/heroes/bl_ando.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momofuku_Ando Another interesting fact about instant noodles...many organisations doing disaster relief give out cases upon cases of the things to victims. Light weight, easy to prepare and...warm & a bit filling too boot.
Costas2008
Never in my life had these instant noodles. And if the wife presents me with them, one day, she wouldn't know where to hide to avoid my wrath. Otherwise, I'm a very easy going person............................... hanno
Very, very rarely as I don't like them. But they have been coming in handy when trekking or birding.
sunshine51
Costas....Could honestly tell if the noodles are of the instant variety if presented to you in a nice bowl and you didn't see any packets in the rubbish bin or laying about? Especially if your missus included some fresh meats & veggies & chili's.....
hanno
I figure I could because of the extremely high sodium content as well as various artificial flavor enhancers.
FangFerang
I make them regularly as a substitute starch from potatoes and whole grain rice. Add my own flavorings and veggies -- a good, cheap, healthy lunch. Edited March 5, 2015 by FangFerang
Prbkk
I make them regularly as a substitute starch from potatoes and whole grain rice. Add my own flavorings and veggies -- a good, cheap, healthy lunch. Doing it that way makes sense but most people don't...instead they just use the flavour sachet and eat them directly....consequently there is about as much real nutrition in them as there is in the plastic in which they are wrapped. Thakkar
Momofuku Ando, the inventer of Instant noodles, lived into his nineties. He said in an interview that he ate his instant noodles every day. I knew those things will kill you--eventually. T
JetsetBkk
I haven't had them for a long time, but only because I forgot which flavour I like.
andrewrooney
They're pretty good if you throw in some chopped green onions, some cabbage, maybe an egg. High in sodium, but what isn't around here...
Daniel Ingalls
Thats a brilliant idea, NASA could use them instant noodles on that long voyage to Mars. Light weight getting it up into the air into space.....All 2200 tons of the stuff. Enough to last a life time or 36 months to Mars. Only one problem guys!........they forgot to bring along some water!.......and I know what your thinking, .....nope...can only use urine one time!
