Popular Post Thaivisa News Posted April 27, 2015 Popular Post Share Posted April 27, 2015 Nakhon Ratchasima – The authorities of Thap Lan National Park have raided and seized the vacation home under construction on suspicion of encroaching on the park. Thap Lan is the country’s second largest national park straddling two provinces, Nakhon Ratchasima and Prachin Buri. The national park has been litigating to resolve some 445 disputes with developers on charges relating to encroachment to build resorts and vacation homes. The raid and seizure is a latest case. Wiroj Rojanachinda, chief of Thap Lan National Park, said the seized vacation home is located on nine-rai plot inside the park area. Wiroj said he suspects a well-known engineer in Bangkok is the true owner of the home although the authorities have yet to complete the checks on the owner’s identity and on the unlawful issuing of land rights document. He said park officials had already filed a police complaint in order to activate the criminal proceedings against the alleged encroacher. He said the home is on the plot designated as the park. The original owner of the plot cited the Cabinet resolution dated June 30, 2001 to continue living on the land, he said. Since then, the plot had been sold through a number of developers. And the land should have been restored to the park’s jurisdiction as it was no longer the settlement allowed under the Cabinet resolution. Of 445 cases being litigated to evict encroachers, the park authorities have already won more than 100 cases. BUT the land is being confiscated and that is major progress from when nothing was done. cracker1 Posted April 27, 2015 Share Posted April 27, 2015 In these issues where encroachment of National Parks is suspected, do the management of these Parks not know where their boundary's are ? I have read about "Park Rangers" many times and presume that these are patrolling guardians in these regions and suspect they would notice if a building was being constructed within the boundary's of the park ? Usually we hear about such development many years after establishment. Do any of the Park administrators ever get taken before the Court for the corruption that is obviously involved, or do they only get moved to "inactive post's? Yes Robbie, there are literally thousands upon thousands of illegally build resorts and homes in Thailand especially around National Parks... But the corruption runs so deep..! But this is Thailand and belongs to the Hi Sos .. Nothing really will ever happen... The authorities should grant Immunity from prosecution to all present and ex land office clerks, and perhaps offer a small reward for information on false title deeds... watch the bottles fall........... I'm all for fairness, do you recall a certain PM stating he was going to send the army in to clean up the mafias on Koh Tao and almost a year later there has been no change to that?
