Malaysian man arrested with 64 kgs of marijuana

Songkhla:- Immigration police have arrested a Malaysian man for allegedly attempting to smuggle 64 kilograms of marijuana from Songkhla to Malaysia.

Nodin Binsaleh, 52, was arrested at 4 pm Thursday while he was about to drive a Toyota Camry with Songkhla license plate from a house on Rungsup Road in Sadao district.

Police found the drug in four bags in the car’s trunk. He put some soap powder into the bag to try to reduce the drug’s smell.

Acting on tips-off, the immigration police monitored Nodin after he crossed the border to stay at the house. Police learned that the man works at the duty-free shop in Malaysia’s Kedah state.

The man admitted that someone he had never met delivered the drug to him in Sadao on Sunday and he kept it at the house waiting for a Malaysian man to contact him to deliver it to him in Malaysia.

He said he was hired to deliver the drug at the rate of Bt1,000 per kg. He said he has delivered marijuana six times – about 30 t 40 kgs each.

Meanwhile in Nakhon Phanom, the provincial governor, Adisak Thep-art, and Nakhon Phanom police chief Pol Maj Gen Thanapol Boribun held a press conference Thursday to announce the bust of 421 kgs of marijuana and arrest of seven suspects.

They were charged with smuggling the drug from Laos to deliver to the deep South of Thailand.

The truck with 421 kgs of marijuana was intercepted on the Nakhon Phanom-That Phanom Road. It was being driven by Nitna Nasoke, 26, who implicated other suspects.

Theres a very strong arguement for it. The endless 'war' isnt stopping people taking them. and arguably the problems like petty crime arise because of a lack or the expense of supply. I don't smoke it. I don't take drugs. But they are killing people and locking up thousands and thousands of people who want the right to choose. If those billions were spent on rehab programmes and educating young people, I believe the drug problems would reduce by half.

I wouldn't say legalizing the Harder drugs would be a good idea , smack , coke or Ice. Part of the addiction is life becomes very simple all you really care about or want is your drug of choice and the whole day is turned into a mission of how to get the money to get the drug and then getting the drug and then taking it , all worries for that day are then over and the process starts again the next day. Of course health and in the case of Coke and ice mental issues follow. I don't think legalizing weed would do any harm. I think the "Gateway drug" accusation is a bit far fetched. Kids usually start off on weed because its easier to get and a social drug. There may be a bit of experimenting with stronger narcotics but for most its just that, try it don't like it , grow up and get on with their life. The hospitals are full of people who have made poor choices. Over eating leading to obesity driving too fast all sorts of decisions lead people to hospital thats the purpose of the hospital to take care of the sick and injured for what ever reason.

it is of course a fact that smoking hashish, marijuana, etc. has less negative health effects than smoking cigarettes or consuming an excessive amount of alcohol. it is also a fact that several countries have started to ease the restrictions. but because it's legal to smoke pot in Amsterdam or Denver, Colorado does not necessarily mean that a country like Thailand is changing its laws and condones the smuggling of 64kg into a neighbouring country where carrying that quantity means most probably a death sentence.

I dont know about you but I dont want people on the road under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol.

I certainly dont want heroin addicts and yabba/ice addicts on the street threatening people. Yes that is what they do.

It's not going to happen in the near future as S.E Asia is still going through the process of criminalising drugs, but allowing people to grow 1 weed plant in their garden would be a step forward. Humans have always been curious to explore drugs to induce alternative mind states and cannabis is relatively harmless, the only drawback being queues of giggling stoned Thai kids buying munchies at 7/11 of an evening.

There is an arguement thay says smoking grass ect induces mental health issues the counter arguement is that there is no way of knowing wether there were pre existing conditions. Which one is the stronger i'de go it induces, but that dont weaken pre existing causes arguement, its valid.

yeah we should ban fat people, cigarette smokers, alcoholics etc from clogging up hospitals and doctors too while we're at it, maybe those runners who mess up their knees too, hang on swimmer get ear infections, stop selling them ear drops, what about kids who stick things up their noses?
