CVT Transmissions

Thinking about upgrading our Teana to a new 2.5 Navi. Any problems or issues with these ? Never owned one, never drove one.

They just keep the car in a optimal rev range if you drive it normally. Can be off putting for someone new to them.

They are smoother compared to the conventional automatic gearbox.

Go test drive it first.

I've got one. 30,000 km's on the clock now. No problems with the Nissan at all. Go for it!

Had one and hated it . Maybe better with the bigger Tena engine. Would have to test drive before spending out a million plus..

Larger engines should be better as you dont need to floor it to get it going a decent speed. Its what i hate most about the eco cars but they do give decent fuel economy. Or try mazda 3 that uses a 6 speed auto.

The Jatco CVT's in Nissan's are very reliable and pretty much bullet proof. In fact, most CVT's are - the only exceptions being Honda's, which got themselves a bad reputation for reliability in Jazz/City models (and were swiftly replaced wit torque converters), and Mitsubishi's one used in the 2000-2007 Lancer, which was lethargic, too rev happy, and just plain weird to drive.
