Featured Replies

Can someone advise me about applying for a 60 day tourist visa in Yangon. e.g. when to arrive, what to take, and how much it cost.

Thanks

We used to go to the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok for ours.

Not sure on the charges now but don,t forget the P.Port photo,s when you go.

Take U.S. $ with you and get some low denominations for convenience or you could loose out.

Get the currency before you go by the way.

Be careful with what you say and be discreet at all times, especially with the locals.

Costs are similar to Laos and Thailand in most instances.

The Burmese are a lovely unassuming race while being cautious of the strict regime.

Thanks for the advice, however I think you may be a bit confused. This is the Thai visa forum and I'm asking about getting a Thai tourist visa in Yangon.

Thanks anyway. By the way a Myanmar visa can be got at the Embassy in Bangkok. Fill in 2 forms. Provide 2 photos and 810 baht and arrive at around 5am. Hopefully you can get a token at 9am after signing a book. Arrive back at 1pm and swap the token for a que number. Then wait for your number to be called to hand in your documents and passport. Then come back 2 days later to pick up your visa. Take the 2 pieces of paper with you as you will need to present them along with the visa to immigration upon arrival. By the way for 1500 baht (or so) you can get a travel agent to do all this for you.

Now any current info about getting a Thai tourist visa in Yangon, oh and are they friendly? : :o

Apologies Rickman. :o

Changes for the better indeed re the Burmese visa

By the way do they still need tourist entering Myanmar to exchange 300 US$ at the official Gov. rates or has it been stopped.

It used to be 6 Kyat to the dollar at the airport for this, while you could get 120 Kyat from money touts in the down town market.

As we used to go on Gov. business we didn,t have to go through many of the difficult procedures and our visa,s where for business, hence the visit to B.Kok office was a requirement anyway in our case.

No money requirement so I understand. But haven't arrived yet so I'm still to find out. I'm trying to find out about getting a Thai Tourist Visa in Yangon.

Travel Agent told me today to take USD and there is no need to change anything at the airport any longer. I can change USD to Kyat at the hotel or on the blackmarket and get a better rate.
