Official denies Burmese got 'special' work visas

BANGKOK: -- The Department of Employment yesterday denied a report that about 30,000 Burmese workers have been granted a ''special visa'' to work in Thailand. At present, Burmese workers who want to work in Thailand have to go through a normal process by applying for visas from the Thai embassy and a work permit from the Department of Employment, said Tanit Noomnoi, director of the department's overseas labour management division.
