BANGKOK: -- The Sukhumvit Road area is one of several parts of Bangkok set to benefit from improvements to drainage in the capital, reported Thai News Agency.

In a video report the news agency said that more than 2 billion baht has been set aside for projects to speed up the drainage of surface water after heavy rains.

New pipes are being installed that will work alongside existing infrastructure.

TNA said that building in the capital had put great strain on the drainage systems.

One area to benefit is the stretch of road between Sukhumvit Soi 19 and Soi 23.

There are 16 projects ongoing in the capital with work expected to continue until 2020.

About forty years ago when the Bangkok engineers were told to plan on turning Sukhumvit Road in to a one way street while expanding the lanes ,they were talking to the ignorant as far as knowledge of infrastructure goes.I am sure that some of these engineers were of a decent quality, but most in a command position were appointed there with many having bought their degrees or having family connections.. The results is an area that moves more vehicles with no additional parking spaces and forgetting to put in the drains properly.  Quote"This Is Thailand and Forever Will Be." "TIT/AFWB"  by BR&DJ
