phuketjock
I would be grateful if anyone can tell me the difference, if any, between green, red, yellow, and orange peppers (capsicums) other than the colour obviously? Any information is appreciated.
faraday
The difference is the maturity. There are also Black ones. I find green ones not so easy to digest.

Thank you. So, I assume that they all start green, then yellow, orange, red, then black?? Is that the correct sequence? I don't eat them myself, I think they have a stale musty taste, but I am told that the green ones taste bitter compared to the other colours, which apparently taste sweeter, would that be correct or not? faraday
Yup, think that's right, but I've never seen a black 'un. Much prefer the Red ones, they do taste sweet, they're great if you stuff them with minced pork, & put some grated cheese on top. Green tastes bitter, yes. What's your favourite vegetable, Jock? HaHa that would have to be tatties, carrots and peas in that order and together if possible, and I am partial to pickled beetroot and heinz baked beans. My father back in the day in Scotland used to grow all of the above, except the baked beans of course. He also grew cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower and brussels sprouts, which I love, but difficult to get here, if not they would probably be on my favourite list. I quite like pak ka nah ( Chinese kale ) that you get here and very cheap Edited August 13, 2017 by phuketjock addition
JungleBiker
Red ones start off green but there are different coloured varieties. See for example red, yellow and orange varieties here: http://www.enzazaden.co.uk/products-and-services/our-products/Pepper http://www.enzazaden.co.uk/products-and-services/brochures-and-leaflets Yellow, green, orange and red here: http://www.deruiterseedstemp.com/global/uk/products/Pages/Nordics-Pepper-Overview.aspx And so on.
