700 baht for a haircut? I'll say no more.
  2. Artisi
You must be stupid to put watches or anything else of that value into your checked luggage, why wouldn't you put it in your pocket. Sounds more looking for attention or insurance scam.

700 THB for a haircut??? I could 7 times to the barber for that price... and than the greed is not enough and they add more to the bill.. No wonder problems occur. The greed and scamming are tremendous in Thailand this is another proof.. And what shops like this don't realize is that they kill their own tourist industry

Even tho those escalators are high & impressive, you'ld have to be trying pretty hard to fall OFF them. Falling DOWN the escalator is one thing. Falling OFF would take quite an effort. Looks like suicide.
  6. Artisi
Wow! no additional charge - unbelievable generosity.
  7. Nemises
“Suddenly grabbed the handrail and fell ”… accidentally, presumably? 🤔 How exactly does someone go from travelling normally down an escalator to falling from the fourth floor?

People should know better than to argue with a merchant on their own turf in a foreign country. If you don't want to get ripped off it's easy enough to find out what the going rates are for whatever you buy. Everybody gets ripped off at one time or another, but you learn if you're not stupid. It's never worth trying to walk out on a bill or get into a brawl. He learned, probably paid at least a few thousand baht including the glasses. I pay 100 baht for simple haircut in Makkasan, Bangkok. Support the local shops. The lady knows me and knows my haircut

Go wanting trouble, punching someone with little provocation. I think you brought that dose of reality upon yourself.

Notice how he completely glosses over entirely the train-wreck damage and fiasco New Labour caused during 13 years of insidious rule from the late 1990s to 2010. There all a shower of sht but New Labour are as bad if not worse than the tory lot.

Wife charges me about 15k baht a month for haircut (half our monthly expenditures), AND, I have to be at her beckon call for sexual services. Damn senior citizen abuse if you ask me. Although, she does throw in for FREE: chef, maid, home maintenance, greenhouse & landscaping duties
  15. spidermike007
Those particular escalators are very long and very high, and there is potential for grave injury if one is behaving foolishly or attempting suicide. I don't see how anybody could simply fall off an escalator unless perhaps the man passed out.

Time finish off the IRGC . They’ll never negotiate anything. Never have , never will.

So in a nutshell... A very drunk Indian was being a jerk and looking for trouble....And then he found the trouble he was looking for.... Sounds like a successful outcome...

Just another one of the quality tourists that Pattaya attracts.
  22. spidermike007
I always put my valuables and cash and things of that nature in my carry-on, so what kind of imbecile would put high-end watches in their luggage?
  23. Rams86
One of first things I learn't in Thailand is to pay up and completely avoid going back to that shop again. They aren't smart enough to realise that eventually they are the loser when they over charge. One other thing I've noticed is that Thais think that all farangs in tourist areas are tourists. So they don't care if they over charge for there services as they'll probabaly never see you again. Milk the cow whilst you get your chances. By the way he must've been one hairy SOB to get charged 700 baht.

Such petty things people get physical about here. Agree on a price and pay it.

Fat pension for life, personal security at taxpayers expense, and now big 'consulting' fees .... not a bad reward for being a total failure.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin on charges related to the unlawful deportation of children from occupied areas of Ukraine—classifying it as a war crime under international law. While this doesn't mean he's been formally convicted, the ICC's warrant reflects a legal determination that there are reasonable grounds to believe he bears criminal responsibility. The court doesn't have its own enforcement arm, so actual arrest depends on cooperation from member states.

I've been a Democrat my whole life and I'd sooner believe Massie over anyone in Congress. He's the only one looking for justice here. The fact that Trump and the Israel lobby had him primaried out of office means he has nothing to lose by going after high profile offenders, as opposed to all the other flotsam and jetsam in Congress who are only interested in prolonging their careers by keeping quiet on this matter.
  32. spidermike007
He appears to have agreed to pay a very high price for a haircut at a shop with grossly over inflated prices. So the argument must have been over a very paltry additional amount for something like a trimmed beard or another service. The bottom line in Thailand is that you never are able to win a fight. If you beat the guy up you lose, and if he beats you up you lose, so it's always better to avoid physical confrontation here.

Said many times.. why put valuables in the check in luggage...Everybody knows that you have to keep them close to you. I don't know how they can claim that they saw them on the x ray. Anyway it is their own stupidity that they are lost. To prevent and protect their luggage they could have wrapped it too. At least than they had some protection

More deflection. The Russian president has vast power. He fancies himself a modern-day Peter the Great. (I have to admit, he does look great shirtless on horseback!) On his orders, Russia invaded a sovereign country (Ukraine) and continues to murder civilians there on a daily basis. You can gush about separation of powers, who committed what war crimes, legal penalties vis-à-vis presidential decrees, until your face turns blue. That won’t change what has been happening on the ground in Ukrainian villages and cities for the past four years.

Great. Continue the unwinnable war. AAA national average today at $4.0954. That will help the GOP in the mid-terms☺️. To rub salt, Biden left office and handed Trump gas price at $3.00. Bunch of lunatics running the White House.
  41. howerde
Was it not something like 26 million Russian died last time Germany invaded Russia, and now Europe supporting Ukraine, yes Germany up there leading the pack, if anyone thinks this is going to end well for the average person in any country, but all our leaders will do very well.

As the collapse of MAGA unfolds, keep in mind that, while in ascendency, the clarion call of Trump’s supporter, both foreign and domestic, was ‘Making Liberals Cry’.

Whilst their mind must be totally pickled to do something like this.......I still find it staggeringly selfish. The chances of killing some innocent must quite high....certainly in a busy shopping mall.
  44. khunjeff
100%. I use the escalators there all the time, and it would be nearly impossible to fall over the side by accident.

If he agreed to the original price then that’s on him. If he wanted extra done then he should’ve just paid and left. I mPay 350 plus tip. I know there are cheaper places, but it’s my choice. If he thought it was too much he should’ve moved on and found a cheaper place. It’s not like they are hard to find.

700 Baht is already exorbitant for a haircut to begin with. I have a barber story. I had my chest shaved. We agreed on the price - 200 Baht. Then she wanted to shave my back. But my back only has a tiny amount of bodily hair. I do not have a hairy back. She proceeded to add an additional 200 Baht to my tab for shaving a few back hairs without telling me first. I just paid and didn't argue. She needs the money more than I do and it's not a massive amount.

Lucky I don't get into trouble. I leave stuff in women's vaginas quite frequently.

Hmm. Backwards and poor, or no, or poisoned water and little or expensive electricity? What a choice for someone living in what is supposed to be the world's greatest economy. Oh and by the way. AI has taken your job.
