"... According to Somsak, Paphada later told him that her foreign husband had not provided the dowry he had promised, leaving her unable to pay the outstanding amount..." Looks like the honeymoon is well and truly over (for everyone in this story)!

Couldn’t they have just told him to stop and not do it again? Maybe they did but it’s not reported. If he then continues or gets stroppy, sure, haul him down to the station. But otherwise, they’ve escalated something beyond what it needs to be imho

A catering business owner has lodged a complaint with Pak Chong Police Station, alleging a Thai-foreign couple failed to pay the remaining 195,000 baht bill for their wedding reception in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Somsak Taemsuay, 39, filed the complaint on July 16 after repeated attempts to obtain payment, according to his account. Police said they intend to summon the couple to discuss the dispute, although no date has been set. Booking and deposit Somsak said a Thai woman identified only as Paphada booked his company on June 9 for a wedding reception held on July 7. The order was for catering for 130 tables, charged at 2,500 baht each, making the total bill 325,000 baht. He said he met Paphada at her home in Ban Rai subdistrict, Thep Sathit district, on June 10 to agree the menu and arrangements for the venue. She subsequently paid a 130,000 baht deposit, he said. Because of the size of the booking, Somsak said his business also supplied drinks free of charge and arranged a live band for the morning wedding ceremony. Caterer says balance was not paid The catering service was completed on the wedding day, and Somsak said his company asked for settlement of the remaining balance afterwards. He alleged that the couple asked to pay the following day, but the 195,000 baht did not arrive. According to Somsak, Paphada later told him that her foreign husband had not provided the dowry he had promised, leaving her unable to pay the outstanding amount. Somsak said the unpaid bill has caused financial pressure for him and his business. Despite making a police complaint, he said he would prefer to resolve the matter through negotiation rather than court action. The complaint remains an allegation, and the report does not identify the foreign husband's nationality or give his response. What foreign residents should note For foreigners planning a wedding or other major event in Thailand, the case underlines the importance of making clear arrangements with suppliers over deposits, final-payment dates and who is responsible for settling the bill. Police have said only that they plan to call the couple in for questioning and discussions over the alleged debt. Pictures courtesy of Facebook/ Khao Pak Chong News Join the discussion? 18 July 2026

Two threads worth pulling here. First, the obvious: the Australian was reckless. Skateboarding on Patong’s roads, already chaotic with tuk‑tuks, motorbikes, and tourists, is asking for trouble. Police were right to intervene; it’s not a playground. Second, the subtler issue: the tone of enforcement increasingly carries a nationalist edge. What could have been a routine safety warning instead becomes another reminder that foreigners are under sharper scrutiny. Thailand’s economy leans heavily on tourism, yet the mood is shifting towards suspicion of outsiders. Alienating the “golden goose” risks long‑term damage far greater than one skateboarder’s antics. The incident is less about one man’s stupidity than about the climate it reveals, a country balancing safety enforcement with a rising hostility that could undermine its own interests.

Alcohol-related deaths (Thailand) ≈ 20,000 – 23,000 deaths per year Tobacco-related deaths (Thailand) ≈ 70,000 – 80,000 deaths per year Ganja-related deaths (Thailand) = 0 deaths per year No medical prescriptions resulting in tens of thousands of deaths, but valid medical prescriptions are needed for zero deaths? Got it. 😀

None of the major networks aired his nasty screed. Fox, the sycophant channel, aired it and immediately posted this after: Following the speech, Fox anchor Bret Baier provided a disclaimer to viewers, stating: "Fox News has not seen that documentation yet and is not in a position to assess the accuracy of the president's statements tonight". I guess a $750,000,000 plus fine taught them a lesson about that lying liar.

Hard to believe the results of this "competition". It seems that those who "voted" may not have spent munch time traveling around Koh Samui, or only engaged in a virtual tour.

It's common to pay a deposit and then the balance after the event: This allows time for the money envelopes to be counted and usually the envelopes cover all the expenses.

In the UK we don't actually have a government that has a backbone. We have a bunch of morons pretending to represent the people of the UK which they 100% do not.

"Numbers & Facts don't lie" ,Election Integrity News: DHS Secretary Mullin just dropped a bombshell. They've identified 250k non citizens registered to vote in just four states:,California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada. With 46 other states still to fully review, this raises serious questions about the voting system. Every American deserves to know their vote counts and isn't canceled out by someone who shouldn't be voting. The story is about a Newsmax news report.

This seems like a major nominee company operation. Exactly what the police should be focusing on. The difference between this and the retired guy living with his Thai wife in their own home is distinct. Credit to the cops for going after big fish.

Issan people have often said to me learning Issan is easy if you can speak Thai, but I beg to differ. There are many different words, which one can pick up with time and a patient Thai ( Issan teacher). If you live in Issan, folks love it if you speak Issan to them. ' an nee Jak baht' ( how much is this) 'Jao sir nyang' ( what is your name) 'Nyang' how to write it in English! And pronounce correctly in Issan. Listening to villagers, especially older ones speak Issan together is fun. The tones frequently soar skywards, exaggerating a word in the story, like actors narrating events.

Thai people are often amazed that foreigners can speak other languages than their mother tongue, as in Thailand it is not common surely not in Isarn. However a friend of mine got the Thai nationality, but he never became a Thai but always a foreigner, although he had a Thai passport and ID. So somebody who can speak Isarn is just a smart guy who took time to learn.

Err actually lovely - just finished watering my garden and we are planning to go to Tower Bridge (travelling free) to https://pottersfields.co.uk/event/thai/ where amongst friends that and farang we will enjoy delicious home cooked food and beers in the balmy summer London sunshine with most probably no stabbings or car rammings as much as some of you here want that to underpin your depraved beliefs. And probably get to meet the Thai Ambassador and his wife with whom my wife and her group are well acquainted. Most often our lives are seen through the lens of our own experiences and outcomes and admit it most of you don't like him because you are racists - pure and simple.

They already lost face and he is done lol. Unless he turns it into a joke by magically bringing double the money and fix loss face. Even then it is a obvious tell already that this is a old bastard with a younger girl who is in it for the transactional part only. There is so many guys who lie to girls in order to get free sex for ages, promising them a condo or saying they own a huge house back home, saying they will pay for a huge wedding. A guy with the actual money, wouldn't need to do that.

Here's some sound Advice. Stop inviting 130 people, some who are not close to a "BIG Party" to show off and entertain others when your finances can NOT support it. Nonsense type logic. All for one night maybe 6 hours of entertainment. Then your paying this Debt for how many years?

Trump's childish inability to admit he lost in 2020 continues to this day, despite the total lack of evidence the election he lost was tainted in any way. At best his silly speech was bogus insinuation, while at worst it was simply lies. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) gathered intel from all US intelligence agencies and produced a report on the election, which was eventually declassified. The conclusion of the report was this: “We have no indications that any foreign actor attempted to alter any technical aspect of the voting process in the 2020 US elections, including voter registration, casting ballots, vote tabulation, or reporting results.” The head of the ODNI at the time the report was issued under classification was John Ratcliffe, the last DNI appointed by Trump and the current Director of Central Intelligence. If, as Trump lied on Thursday, there was some conspiracy by the intel community to hide facts, it was his own appointee Ratcliffe behind it. Trump went on to note China may have gotten voter rolls. Sounds scary, yes? Well obtaining voter rolls does not equate to interference, nor does it even suggest anything untoward, because voter rolls are officially available for purchase online by anyone. China always collects whatever it can on US citizens, because it likes to identify individuals who might be intelligence officers or might be people who have access to classified military data or private sector technology that might be of interest. Lost to those MAGA minds incapable of thinking rationally is the fact Trump never questioned the 2016 result nor did he question the 2024 election result. He has only questioned the one he lost, 2020. The govt under the then-current President is responsible for election security, which would have been Obama in Trump's 2016 win and Biden in Trump's 2024 win. The President---and thus the Admin responsible for election security in Trump's 2020 defeat: Donald Trump. The much more believable evidence regarding attempts to interfere in the 2020 election were two glaring omissions in Trump's Thursday speech. The first was when "someone" contacted Ukraine President Zelenskyy and demanded he manufacture dirt on Joe Biden in exchange for being given aid and weaponry already approved by the US Congress. That "someone", for which he faced his first impeachment, was Donald J Trump. The second bit of evidence regarding an attempt to interfere in the election was when "someone" called the SecState of Georgia telling the man to "just find me 11,780 votes", which did not exist. Again, that was Donald J Trump. I guess it's understandable why Trump might leave those out of his speech. Trump's speech was an epic fail. He may well have just gone with his former lawyer Sidney Powell and claimed interference from Hugo Chavez, who Powell claimed rose from the grave, wrote computer code, uploaded it to an Italian satellite, which then altered votes on Dominion Voting Machines gear. Powell stated that publicly on several occasions, but was still sane enough to not raise it in any suit in court, as that absurdity would have gotten her disbarred. Trump, you lost. Get over it. Even your own Chief of Cyber Security at the time---Chris Krebs---said that technically 2020 was the "safest and most secure election in US history".

FactChecking Trump’s Election Security Speechhttps://www.factcheck.org/2026/07/factchecking-trumps-election-security-speech/ Trump distorted the facts on several issues: Trump said the documents he released show that China had acquired “220 million U.S. voter files” starting in the 2020 election cycle, and that this had been kept “secret” by U.S. intelligence officials. But state voter files are mostly publicly available, and an April 2020 intelligence assessment said Chinese officials were analyzing state voter rolls. The president said released documents revealed that U.S. election infrastructure is “vulnerable,” “easily compromised” and “people within our government knew that.” But one of the documents Trump cited said the election systems, for several reasons, “would be difficult to manipulate on a wide enough scale to alter the election outcome.” Trump said the U.S. election system was “dangerously” exposed to “foreign interference.” It has been publicly known for years that other countries have tried to influence elections. Trump focused on China; it was a “minority view” in an intelligence assessment that China had acted to undermine Trump’s reelection in 2020. The president’s speech may have suggested to some listeners that a foreign country changed votes in a U.S. election, but Trump never explicitly claimed that. An adviser to the president said after the speech: “The Intelligence Community has zero evidence that someone, that a foreign power flipped a vote in 2020, ’22 or ’24.” Trump claimed that a Department of Homeland Security investigation “identified approximately 278,000 noncitizens who are registered to vote in federal elections.” DHS hasn’t explained its methodology, and experts warn the figure is likely highly inaccurate. Past DHS-derived lists have proven unreliable. He cited an alleged instance of fraud from 2020 involving fake voter-registration applications in Michigan. Authorities say no one actually voted improperly as a result of the alleged scam, which stemmed from employees of a voter-registration company trying to defraud their employer and was not a deliberate effort to alter votes. The president exaggerated the time it took California to count its votes in its June election and falsely suggested that the long timeline indicates something nefarious occurred.

Roadsafety is very high on the agenda in Thailand.. probably a new law is invented when they saw the man on his skateboard. Anyway there is a lot of limitations, especially for foreigners in a land that means 'Free Country", In a normal country a warning would be done and bring him to a police station and detain him.

As a Londoner myself who has voted for Lord Khan every election it is richly and definitely deserved. Congratulations he does a brilliant job under difficult circumstances - we still have the 60+ Oyster Freedom Card which entitles us to free travel on all London transport after 9am. Oh and living in London as I have for 40 years I have never been stabbed, burgled or even seen a violent crime. As have most of my friends and family pretty much. And even if you were to focus on knife crime where nay is too much then it;'s nothing compared to the US. And school shootings there have been none. So Elon Musk and his salivating devotees can go hang.

The UK humiliates itself on the world stage yet again. I thought all this foreign aid was supposed to provide leverage in incidents like this. Pakistan are laughing all the way to the bank. 😄 Restore UK would stop all this.

It's no problem at all, I don't report anything to anyone, and if they send me a bill I'll just leave. There's no significant money here for them to take.
