Trump: No One Will Build Monuments For Him 'Once I'm Gone'

President Donald Trump said he does not expect anyone to continue building monuments to him after he leaves office, confirming in a recent interview that he is behind a number of high-profile construction plans in Washington, DC.

Asked by New York Magazine about projects described as monuments, including a “triumphal arch”, Trump said the idea was straightforward: he is building them for himself and believes successors will not maintain the effort.

“That’s true,” Trump said. “Nobody will do it once I’m gone. When I leave here, nobody will.”

White House Projects Draw Internal Warnings

Trump’s second-term focus has been heavily centred on construction at the White House, including a new ballroom and other related work. Some congressional Republicans and advisers have expressed concern that the attention on the ballroom could make it harder for the party to stay on message for the midterm elections, and could undermine election prospects, New York Magazine reported.

Trump, however, portrayed the work differently when speaking to the magazine.

“The people should be thankful,” he said, adding that he had considered opposition to doing the interview but said he was “proud of the work” he was carrying out.

Security Claims Used To Justify The Ballroom

Trump has argued that the White House ballroom is needed for national security, pointing to proposed changes intended to strengthen protection. In his account to the magazine, the plan includes a drone port on the roof, an underground bunker and bulletproof windows.

The administration is also preparing a separate, larger construction project. According to the report, ground is expected to be broken on a 250-foot arch near Arlington National Cemetery within the next two weeks.

While Trump did not dispute that the projects were personal in nature, the administration and Trump have repeatedly linked the work to security needs, including the upgrades described for the White House.

Legacy And What Will Remain

In an earlier report from CNN, sources described Trump’s motivation as being closely tied to his legacy. They said the president’s priorities ultimately rest on what he believes will endure beyond his term.

One source close to Trump told CNN in May that the key point was that Trump’s buildings would not be torn down. The source said that even if successors reversed policies, the ballroom would likely remain, while highlighting the East Wing as a lasting physical mark associated with Trump.

“The one thing they can’t tear down will be the East Wing. That is his lasting impact. That’s why he cares so deeply,” the source said, according to CNN, using the phrase “legacy sh*t”.

Trump’s latest comments reinforced that view of durability, while also indicating that he expects no further monument-building once he has left the White House.

Vance, Rubio. Neither of them will ever become president. They disappear into the same swamp in which the Moron also sinks. The real Holmes would have recognized this long ago.

“Neither of them will ever become president “

Now, I could swear I’ve heard something very similar before.

LISTEN CAREFULLY

When you stop crying who'll become the next president?

Sounds like you must of had a unique relationship the “real Holmes”.

History will see Trump as one of the greatest leaders that America has ever had... The only reason that we get to see articles like this is because they're being pushed by the left wing media conglomerates... if it hadn't been for Trump Iran would've had a nuclear weapon which it would've decimated the Jews with and all you nay sayers would be sitting here ringing your hands saying we should've seen the signs Trump was right all along . What can we do about the nuclear fallout?

The sky is really falling henny penny..... and it wouldn't matter that America was now being ruled by Muslims that have taken over the government one seat at a time...as I have said before and I'm sure I will say many times in the future...My bottom line on this is I don't care what America does just so long as a Jihadi does not get to build a suitcase bomb fuelled by enriched Iranian uranium who then goes looking to eliminate the infidel as the Jihadi is instructed to do by the Quran

Whose life would that be?

Well, I think that history will, as usual, judge him harshly as he has squandered much good will and faith that the US public afforded him. Yes, plenty of missteps but they could have been avoided with decent advice... but also some okay decisions to to be fair. However, the mainstream media is generally biased one way or the other and engaged in a social engineering battle, and focuses on the negative because outrage gets likes and hits which makes people keep on being attentive.

Trump has fallen into the classic political trap of surrounding yourself with sycophants and "Yes men" that just want to be near the levers of power and are not actually that competent, just know how to flatter properly.

In Trump's first term, he was surrounded by competent professions from their areas of expertise... but he couldn't hack being told the truth. Trump is a normal dictatorial CEO from the business world, and they don't do discussion... they give out orders and expect corporate obedience with no questions asked. You can't do that running a country, as it doesn't work. This is also probably why he admires the tyrants of the world and is happy to engage with them.

So, that means, when he got in again off the happenings of his previous term, he went completely the other way... plus he's going a bit fruity, like Biden did, with strange statements and outbursts. This is why the Republicans will probably have poor midterm election results... we'll see, as the US midterms are always hard to call due to people now not telling the polling companies the truth (they save it for when they are alone in the ballot booth), but often the sitting president does badly.

Trump could have nailed it and proved everyone wrong but he is/was ultimately out of his depth. There are many people that say that the first time he ran, he just wanted to come a respectable second, not win it, because it would be good for business... and then won and couldn't believe it. He has a fragile ego as he has always been fawned over by those around him... and politics isn't really like that CEO boardroom environment, especially international politics. As a politician, you have to understand the concept of Realpolitik and not just have a hissyfit if you get an answer you weren't expecting, need more abstract strategic thought (which you are supposed to get from professional advisors)... that's why you have diplomats in other countries as it's not often what you say, it's the way you say it.

Perhaps if/when the Democrats take control of the House in November the money tap will be firmly closed. The Ballroom will never be finished, and the Arc de Trump will just be foundations.

Ozymandias springs to mind!

He needs to ask himself why nobody would want to build any monuments to him, the worst president in US history--twice--when he is gone. But, of course, he won't.

Trump will be rememberred as Tarrif Trump, and that is not a complement.

I am surprised that there are any supporters of this guy.

One thing that bothers me is that many people who have to guard him from the world will have their lives in danger

even in the future. What a waste of money In My Opinion.

No need for a monument.

No problem. But he’s going nowhere until his term is complete and another Republican is inaugurated.

Most likely Rubio or Vance.

Democrats have no front runner. Fact.

If only he had the slightest idea why that is. Here, let me help you, Donny: because you’re a petty selfish narcissist POS, whose only purpose of becoming president was for his own glory, to screw over all of his many ‘enemies’ and, most of all, to get as rich as possible, in any way possible.

Oh come on, Trump is only 1 step away from getting the Noble Peace Prize…

He just needs to resign, or die… Either way will have more impact on World peace than anything else.

“Silly me”. Your words. Quite frankly, accurate.

The American people will most likely elect Vance or Rubio. Personally, I prefer Rubio.

The current state of the Democratic Party leaves much to be desired. They’re disintegrating from within. While I’m sitting back watching and LMAO.

So, who’s your front runner for 2028?

This should be entertaining.

The great irony of the trump damage may well be American voters, after getting a hard lesson will be more careful in deciding to elect a felon in the future. Well, one can hope in the fae of the reality that fart too many Americans do not value the knowledge of some history.

Better still - lose control and effective power in a couple of months? And have to squat in what remains of the White House whilst the gaudy tacky mess he imagines is the great "legacy" of the "Greatest of all Time" falls apart and lies abandoned around him, whilst the world, people and leaders point, giggle and watch.
