A bit more info. My wife and I are both middle-aged , we have been together for about 15 years (evidence of which was in the photos we submitted). I have worked and lived in Thailand for about 17 years, teaching most of that time (not working currently). There is no marriage "scam" going on and I'm not sure how anyone could surmise that. It didn't seem like the IO was questioning the legitimacy of our relationship/ marriage.

I'm on a 60 day visa exempt, already have the 30 day extension- starts neek week. No, it had nothing to do with the documents. She said they were all in order. Her entire issue was that we have only been married for 3 weeks. Her mention of approval (visa approval) if we had a child together was a totally random statement by her. Quite strange.

What I am on about? Just stating facts to see if anyone else was ever denied a marriage visa on the grounds of "not being married long enough". Also, to find out if anyone has successfully made a new appointment after a rejection (to try an application with a new IO), and if that was successful. Not sure how I can state it any differently. I'm aware of the "visit wife" extention.

Hello everyone. MyNon O marriage visa application was rejected at CW because we "haven't been married long enough". Has anyone ever experienced this before? The IO said we must be married for "two or three months before applying for a marriage visa". She also mentioned: "If you had a child I could approve". Also, just wondering if anyone has been denied a visa (marriage or otherwise) and made a new appointment to get a new IO? Was it successful? Many thanks.

Yes, she made that suggestion. My 30 day extension starts next week (still on 60 day exempt). She talked to my wife in Thai the whole time, wouldn't even answer my questions, barely acknowledged I was there. She also wouldn't accept our photos, no selfie style. I think she wants like a photo shoot or something? Im baffled. I would try to go and make another appointment hoping to get another IO but I'm afraid I would run into her again, or get her again. I guess they are just trying to drain another 1900 bht and give me grief for no reason whatsoever? Is CW a difficult location for visa applications in general? I've worked here for 15 years (not currently working), and the wife and I have been together for 15 years. Totally perplexed.

Update Rejected. IO said we need to be married for 2 or 3 months? And "could approve if we had a child". Said we "must come back in two months". FYI my wife and I have been together for 15 + years, evidence of which was in our photos. Never heard of this, does anyone know of any IO giving this as a reason for denial previously. Seems like an independent decision, guess I got unlucky with IO's. Can I make a new appointment and go to a different IO? This is at CW FYI.

Hi all, I've just read in another thread that a witness is required for an extension? It was at Samut Prakan I believe. Will I need a witness for the application for visa/ or for the extension at CW? I've never heard of this before. I had the witnesses for the actual marriage, but this is the first I've heard of needing a witness for the visa process. Thanks for any input.

Sorry to bother again. Concerning bank documentation, must I have: 1. the letter 2. updated bankbook and copies 3. Bank statement for prior 12 months For the initial application? Or do I present - 3. Bank statement for prior 12 months, when I return after 90 days for the extension? I will probably get the statement anyway just to be safe but the earlier statement, "Bank statement is fine, however has nothing to do with update. CW require that on day of application." leads me to believe I should not need the bank statement of prior 12 months for the initial application. Many thanks.

Just an update. Got a 30 day extension on a visa exempt yesterday. My 4x6.cm was accepted. However, while I was there I witnessed 2 photos get denied. One was too small, looked like a 3.5x 4.5cm. The other was said to be "too old", because the person had shorter hair in the photo than at present. Seems they are getting picky indeed. At IT plaza Laksi, Bangkok

Thanks. I use kasikorn. I have SCB as well, but was planning on using Kasikorn for the visa. Ah, so a bank statement from my K bank application wont do then? I guess this doesnt update immediatly-takes a day or so I think. I havent used a passbook for quite some time, guess I will have to update on day of application (with a deposit or withdrawal on day of application) then print all pages. Can I get the "bank letter" from any branch? Also, would you know if a bank statement downloaded from a mobile bank app would be accepted for the 12 month extension (free of charge those are and quite detailed - for K bank at least). Thanks
