Hi,
I feel the AC of my car has a leak and is running out of gas. Where can I bring it for check/repair/refill in Bangkok?
I know B-Quik offer this service but I am looking for alternative options just in case...
Thanks

For the one asking, my car in an old Audi A8. This is why it has a large gas tank.
For the one wondering if it is dangerous to fully fill the gas tank, no it is not since you have the EVAP system to take the fumes of the gas to re-inject them in the air intake of the engine. This kind of technology exists since the 1990's, maybe earlier.
Also if you fill to the top but in the right way you will not spill out so it will not be messy.
I want fill to the max in order to accurately know my gas usage. If one time I am at 93% full and the other time at 98%, I would not be able to know the actual gas usage of my car.

I always to have tank full (Tem Tank) and yes I can speak some Thai but some gas station don't want allow you to refill yourself (safety policy) and also don't accept when you want them to top up (maybe because they would lose face?!?).
Thanks for the tips for the gas stations. I will try checking for those ones.

So many stupid childish answers and few useful one.
Thanks to the ones who provided useful answers. To the others...
BTW my gauge is not off: we all know that when the auto-refill at the gas station click, it does because of bubbles made by the gas during th refill. Then they had 20 THB to round the number.
On a tank like mine (90L), it can make a huge difference. For example one of my friend had a Ranger with 80L tank. And after the refill was done, he get out if his car and told it was not full. He finished the refill by himself and added 13L!!!
In my motherland, I had a tank of 42L and was usually adding 5-6L after the click of the auto-refill.
When I ask for a full refill, I don't like having a partial one. This also helps to properly monitor my gas mileage.

I would recommend you to bring it to an Audi shop. I myself own an A8 and know 3 garages specialized in Audi cars in Bangkok and one of them is where I bring my car for any job to do on it
Price for maintenance are usually fairly cheap to what we would see in EU/US and some can be very competent but you must speak Thai (or have a Thai speaker calling for you and/or coming with you) as they are not speaking foreign language.
If you want more info, please PM me

Owww, that sucks if only PTT. Will try next time to check with them to refill to the real max of the car in Esso or Shell gas stations.

Hi All,
I don't know for you but I am getting sick about each time I go to a gas station for a full gas fill, I always see 1 or 2 grove are missing on my gauge, meaning around 5L on my car.
Is there any (good) gas station such as Esso or Shell in Bangkok where I can refill myself so I ensure that I fill up, it is really full?
Thanks
PS: No PTT for me

"The death toll was put at 15,488 in 2016."
How do they count the death toll?
Depending of the countries, the counting can be different and have dramatic effect on the number and so sometime, it is not really representative:
- Some countries do not people only dying at the scene. Those countries minimize as much as possible the published death toll by this way
- Some countries count people who passed away within the 24 hours following the accident regardless of the location (at the scene, hospital, on the way to the hospital, etc...)
- Some countries count people who passed away within a week following the accident regardless of the location (at the scene, hospital, on the way to the hospital, etc...)
- Finally, some countries decided to count people who passed away with a month following the accident regardless of the location (at the scene, hospital, on the way to the hospital, etc...)
Where I come from, the statistics are provided using the last method (and I think this is the right way to do) and I wonder which one is used here. Can anyone provide (without any sarcasm) the method they use to gather this number? I have my own idea but I would like to be able to compare apple to apple.
Thank you

Hi All,
Thanks for the info. Very useful. Autobacs being close to my place, I will try to go check there next Saturday.
If you have other recommendation, feel free to let me know.
BTW, I still did not make my choice between the Xenon or LED yet
-
Hi All,
Thanks for your replies. Yes I intend to take quality products, not cheap ones. As shown on the picture, my car already has xenon with ballast but from cheap quality (bought the car like that) and I am obviously not satisfied with the quality.
I already have an idea of what kind of thing I would like (4300K bulb either HID or LED, 35 or 55 Watts, better ballasts and lens) and price is not the main concern. Safety when driving at night is my main concern. Now I need to find a valid shop that can source the correct products and for them properly.
So if you can recommandes a shop that has the right skills, please let me know.
Thanks :)

Hi guys,
I found the headlights of my car a bit lacking in term of visibility and I would like upgrade them to something brighter.
What shop can you recommend in Bangkok that can have a large choice of light bulbs (I use H1 and D2S), ballasts, lens, etc... and that knows how to install them properly in my headlights enclosures.
I want something with good quality with good performance, not a cheap thing that looks cool.
Attached is a picture of the headlight/bulbs I have.
Thanks

Thank you jay1980. I also found that my car audio shop can do it, so all good. Thank you :)

Most of the time that type of item is throw away and buy a new one
Yes this is why I also said "replace". It is also usually quite inexpensive.
But I need the name of a shop I can go to have this replaced.
Thanks

Hi All,
It seems the controller module of my aftermarket DRL died. Do you know a shop in Bangkok where I can go to have it fixed/replaced?
Thank you

For 40,000 km/year, I would recommend tires that last longer like "Premium Touring Summer" from a first or second tier brand.
Something like Michelin Primacy 3 is a good choice but a bit expensive while something like Hankook or Kumho have some good tire at a more affordable price.
Check on the website of Black Donut. They provide lot of choice and the service is good. I changed my tire there on Sunday it was fine.

Hi All,
Just to give you an update: the project with the Audi S6 just didn't happen so I had to find another one.
I ended up with an Audi A8 D2 with 245/45 R18 tires.
I did some research between what is available in Bangkok (very limited choice) and what is matching my requirement (Ultra-High Performance or Max Performance with good wet traction) and ended up buying Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 from Black Donut. The price was good and the tire are - so far - quite nice.
With the rainy season coming, I will be able to check if they are matching my expectation

Thank you for the info, Impulse. I was thinking about Ban Moh area but the one you show is more convenient.
I also contacted a few shops yesterday. So far only one answered and is checking if he can find what I am searching for. if it becomes successful, I will inform you and let you know the name of the shop

Thanks for the info, I will contact them :)
If you have other idea, please let me know

So nobody knows shop that can have this?
-
They don't have what I search on Lazada: I need one with motorized LCD screen and 1DIN.
Thanks

Hi All,
I am searching for an Android Head Unit to put in my car.
Do you know where I can find some?
Thank you

Tyreplus, ACT, Autobacs, Autoboy... All have "brand" tires. What really matter is the size and the grade (Touring, Extreme, Ultra, etc...) you expect
