  1. Did you mean to say Lazada will NOT allow foreign cards? I bought from Lazada for years with a credit card, then they started requesting ID, my photo, signature, etc. So I changed to buying COD only. These places are no Amazon. Not by a longshot.
  2. check out these prices on Shopee. Has anyone had experience fixing this issue? I find Lazada and Shopee customer service to be essentially non-existent. They do send replies, they are simply never able to answer any issues. I've got a string of emails three weeks long with Shopee on, what I thought was a simple question. The latest response is that they want me to take a video of how I got the prices. LOL.........just did a search for a number on their website end this is what came up. Hopefully Temu.com will add Thailand to the list of countries they ship to. Would love to dump Shopee and Lazada permanently.
  3. If you head over there, go up to the very top floor. They have got an amazing selection of classic VW Beetles, Karman Ghias, Porsche, Ferrarri, motorcycles.......and what appears to be a couple of the Royal Family Rolls Royces.....early 50's vintage. Every single one of the cars in in amazing condition. The noise level on the first few floors is laughable.....the typical Thai blaring music and just the din of all the people. But once you get up to the top, it's very quiet and they've got some classical music playing, so pleasant environment to view the cars.
  4. for me, it's sooooo beneficial when people post actual real information. I'd trust the IRS publication.
  5. Oh boy.......... Another Blue Diamond Affair. The Saudis will be barred from visiting Thailand again.
  6. Just goes to show you..........even idiots can make lots of money.
  7. My thai wife and I probably spent $30K in the three months we were allowed in Thailand earlier this year. A lot of that time was spent traversing Bangkok, to get a simple two month extension based on marriage. It's simple to come for 30 or 60 days, but then ya gotta go. I'd love to do 6 months in Thailand, but they just make it way too difficult.
  8. If they declare it illegal again, will dispensaries will have fire sales to dump inventory and prices plummet, or would prices surge as consumers stock up?
  9. My Thai wife made it to the US for the first time in 2019 on a fiance' visa, and got citizenship in 2023.....so now it's just super simple for her to get back and forth to Thailand, and can stay in either country as long as she likes. Unfortunately, I don't experience the same benefits in Thailand, so we only spend a few months a year there. Obviously we spend far more money in the US, just because that's where we live most of the time. Apparently Thailand has enough money, and does not need another 200,000 baht from me for PR.
  10. I don't see any issue. I have known my wife for 20 years, married for 4. The ONLY thing my wife has ever wanted (financially) was the wedding and sinsod.......over 20 years. It's actually sort of annoying that she NEVER asks for anything, because I wish I could do more for her. (ok, she did want to go out to dinner last week) Most amazing woman I ever met....only took me 16 years to figure that out.
  11. Thaksin, Boss............all the richies are exactly the same. No punishment for any of them.
  12. My father in law carries a stick around with him. No problems. But tells me these dogs even bother the locals.
  13. Entered Thailand a few times a year for the past 20 years, never been asked, so I never paid attention to the requirement. Having said that, I would likely always have $600 on me while I'm traveling, but will make sure I have the requisite amount in the future. Wonder if they'd let you access the ATM if you're light.
  14. Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute -- Snake Farm. I thought this place was interesting. They have some very nasty snakes here. They have a couple of shows.......one to milk venon, and another where the handlers bring out a bunch of different kinds of snakes.
  15. This food delivery thing in Bkk is bigger than Amazon in the US. We were sitting in the food court at Emquartier just below the escalators. Every other person coming down or going up was a food delivery guy. We live right on Sukhumvit, so we don't typically use these guys.
  16. Many thanks Haze, but I'd sure love to help support the local artists.
  17. Hmmmm, I just posted a new topic on this, and based on the responses here, guess I have little hope. I saw the guys at MBK Vocalneal, and yeah, exactly what I'm looking for. But those guys are gone. Would love to know where they all went. There is just one guy over there now but would love to see the group of artists I saw at MBK so I can select the one I like.
  18. There used to be some incredible Thai artist doing pencil drawings from photographs at MBK. This was about four years ago and I remember seeing 6-7 of them, but upon my return there last week.......there's just one guy. Does anyone know where I can go to see/hire more of these artists?
  19. Disregard my questions concerning the affidavit form. Found that on Embassy website. https://th.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/90/blank-affidavit-bangkok-january-2019.pdf
  20. Your breadth of knowledge is absolutely incredible. Thanks so much. Is the affidavit something I need to draft prior to my appointment so they can simply stamp it, or is that something they are well aware of and have a form or some such that I'd fill in? If I need to draft something, can you point me to a good sample? The manager referred me to the following document to acquire the 60 day. She never mentioned getting the Kor Ror 22, and this document only mentions getting certification from the Embassy if it's a marriage cert from abroad. What's your thoughts on that issue?
  21. You're absolutely amazing. Thanks so much. Got the appt, so we shall see.
  22. Figured I would provide an updated scenario for this thread, since I used the information here in attempt to get the 60 day extension based on marriage. I spent about 10 hours over the past couple of days with immigration in Bangkok (IT Square), trying to get them to accept my US marriage certificate. Today I spoke with four different people, including the manager of the department. They indicated while translation is not required, they were absolutely adamant on certification from the US Embassy in Bangkok. They provided the Thai regulations (link below), which are consistent with what they told me......certification of the marriage cert by Embassy is required, with no mention regarding translation. I explained to them that the US Embassy in Bangkok specifically details on their website that they WON'T authenticate or certify marriage certificates and that you must have that done by the Dept of State in the US. I asked the manager if that would be acceptable, and she said "it must be done in Thailand". The document she showed me clearly states the certification must be done by the "Embassy". Five different immigration officials told us to go get it certified at the US Embassy....so it seems they all think that can be done. So after investing a bunch of time on this issue, it seems that if you literally interpret what the Thai rules and US Embassy website says, it's not possible for a US citizen, married to a Thai, to get the 60 day extension. Of course, that's not right as US citizens here have indicated that they have rec'd a 60 day extension, and one guy who posted said he got his 60 day extension this year....no translation, no certification. It seems that even if you followed the Thai rules to the letter, it's still up to the way in which the person you are speaking with interprets the rules. So....in spite of what I'm reading on the US Embassy website, I did go ahead and make an appointment with them, so I'll see what they can do, if anything. I figure they're going to boot me out of there since the website is clear, but I'll report back on what happens. Here's a link to the US Embassy in Thailand, where it indicates they will not authenticate a marriage cert. https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/local-resources-of-u-s-citizens/notaries-public/ And here's a link to the document that the manager at Thai immigration provided (number 18, visit spouse): https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/visa-extension/#1610937437663-90b1feab-b48a
  23. Thanks DRJ, yes, aware of that. Trying to figure out this 60 day extension, as our return tickets are 89 days after our arrival date……since I figured this was a no brainer. Bad assumption, I know. The 30 day extension gives us 75 days, so I’d still have to pay for ticket changes on our airfare and would like to avoid that. Guess there is always the border run, but hoping I can get a halfway cooperative immigration person and be done with this.
  24. Thanks for that…..sounds like a got a huge run around today. You got the magic touch.
