Taxi Driver Arrested for Attacking Australian Tourist
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
So from one picture you can tell that he was a spoilt kid that was over feed, and a Mr. Macho would never act like that, What rock have you been living under, So why stereo type some one because they have a few extra pounds. You don't know 100% reason the incident occurred or why the argument started or if the driver got involved in the argument in the first place. The end of the day the Taxi drive acted out violently with a weapon, in most countries that is a criminal act, but because the guy is a "Fatty" as per you it his fault By the way the Holden is great and took a long time to restore here in Thailand. -
Taxi Driver Arrested for Attacking Australian Tourist

So why is it coming back to fat shaming again, Why not just say the Australian tourist or just Tourist, Yes we can all see by the pictures that he is carrying a few extra pound, but there is no need to keep emphasizing that fact, if it was a fit muscular guy or a slim guy would your comment be the Macho Man or the bag of bones guy. I don't think so, so why point out that he's not a poster model looking guy I guess that you have nothing better to do within you life then to heckle and put other down That's my Whine, now where's the cheese......... -
Taxi Driver Arrested for Attacking Australian Tourist
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
So by reading another news article, the story is a little different, The Australian gent was picked up with a Thai Man from Soi 2 Silom and during their journey to their hotel an argument broke out between the 2 passengers, when the Australian man demanded the taxi to stop, the Australian bang the taxi violently and slammed then slammed the door closed, the taxi driver them got out demanding that he pay the fair, which he refused and an altercation broke out and the taxi driver took his box cutter knife from the glove box and was waving it around and unintentionally stab the Australian and then fled the scene and returned the other passenger back to Soi 2 Silom This to me put a whole other spin on the story, not that the taxi driver was in the right to stab anyone but he was really not the instigator, he was just wanting to get the money owed to him for the Taxi ride. I think the Taxi drive knew exactly what he was doing with the knife and it was not an accident that the Australian was stabbed, Take it how you see it but that's my thoughts. -
Taxi Driver Arrested for Attacking Australian Tourist
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It is amazing that the story about a tourist having an issue with a taxi driver over a fare, which most likely the taxi driver didn't use the meter and tried to over charge the tourist for his fare has turned into a fat shaming post, the weight of the tourist has nothing to do with the original story. If the tourist had been smaller in stature i think the out come would have been the same from the taxi driver if the passenger was was not over weight. Overall the comments should be about how the taxi driver violent reaction and how he manages to keep his taxi license and not loses his job. I know i am going to get a lot of keyboard warriors commenting back but lets treat everyone the same no matter colour, size or culture -
Hooked: Foreigner makes waves, takes a dip in fish spa (video)
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Why is it when people come to Thailand for a vacation they become nut jobs and do stupid $%&$ for views on online platforms It totally reflects badly on to us foreigners that are trying to make a life with our families and follow the laws and go about our lives as normal people. It is become never ending the things that people are doing and think that it ok in Thailand, I can imagine that they would never do this in their own countries, in fear of being arrested and fined -

Thailand Customs to Apply VAT on All Postal Imports
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Do you think that expats are the only one that are ordering item from overseas, i am sure that the expat community is a very small percentage of orders that are being shipped from oversea. I'm sure there are many Thais ordering items from online platforms that are being shipped from oversea which will be including in the new tax grab Maybe the online platform can have the tax added in the final price, Amazon do this and you know the tax amount on check out...- 181 replies

I have ridden a big bike in Thailand for many years, riding well over 100 thousand km throughout Thailand, I never ride my bike after the sun sets and when i do ride i wear all the protective gear, even if it is only going 10km from home, I never ride at crazy speeds. Having lived on the island of Phuket at one time i remember seeing many tourist that hire big bike and have no clue on how to ride or regard for protective gear, i use to see them getting around in shorts singlets, flip flops and no helmets are break neck speed, the hire shops should be in some was accountable for hiring out bikes to people that don't have a license or any riding skills. Until this happen the carnage will continue condolences to the innocents parties in this horrific accident that should have never happened

Bangkok airports hit turbulence: Ranked among world’s worst
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
I travel through Bangkok often due to working outside of Thailand, over the year of traveling through Bangkok airport i have seen the differences with Immigration over the years I have now gotten to the point that whenever i am traveling to of from Bangkok i purchase fast track immigration, I do that as most time i have long flights and after being traveling for up to and over 24 hours the last thing i want to do is stand in line for hours waiting to get through immigration The small cost for fast track i5s with the cost and hassle of waiting Most times I'm off the plane, picked up at the gat in a golf cart and through immigration, luggage collection and into a taxi with in 30 minutes of the plane stopping at the gate but the whole procedure of getting through the Bangkok airport, both on arrival and departure should be overhauled, i don't blame the officers on the front line, it's the ones behind the scenes that to lead by example and make sure that the front line staff are working efferently, but i'm sure that this will not happen any time soon -
Tuk tuks and taxis: Bangkok’s solution to overcharging crisis
grubman replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
This week it's the over charging taxi's, Next week we will be back to no one is allow to ride in the back of a pick up a again, then come Songkran and they will do a uturn on their decision and allow it during Songkran, then what next on the list, AHHH let's put a tax on foreigners arriving at the airport, should be easy to collect, have less immigration open so everyone waits in line and then once you pay your tax you get assigned an immigration counter. That'll work 🤔 -
AOT and immigration unite to tackle Suvarnabhumi Airport queues
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is the reason i always purchase fast track departure and arrival, other wise the queues are horrendous and i hate waiting in these queues Most time i have paid for fast track i am passed immigration in a matter of minutes I have had time that i am waiting for my luggage and the only other people waiting are the Thai national that don't queue with all the foreigners line many time off the plane and in a cab with in 30 minutes but the queues should not be as long as they are, the last time oi departed i neglected to get fast track due to the lateness of my company booking my flight and it took over 1.5 hour for departures immigration, they7 were stopping the security check because the line for immigration was back up the stairs near the security check. was a disaster and once i finall got down stairs to immigration there were on 3 or 4 counter open so totally understaffed and no one seemed to care Let hope that on day they might get it sorted but i'm not holding my breath -
Bus accident in Prachuap Khiri Khan: 14 dead, 35 injured
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Does it really matter whether they were foreign of domestic tourist, there are 14 people that have lost their live due to the accident, whatever the cause of the accident. It's another totally preventable accident, with better laws, licensing, training and policing of the laws would be a good start, but as well all know from previous history this will not be happening any time soon. Condolences to the families of the deceased -
Tracking the growing Shinawatra influence in new Thai government
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As i have said before in another post. Thaksin's return to Thailand was all orchestrated before he even stepped foot on Thai soil, The new government come to power and Thaksin returns to Thailand to serve only a few hours in a holding Cell, then off to a luxury hospital suite and then a pardon and reduction of his sentence. Now he is the Puppeteer of the new government, Or should I say Muppeteer, as they are all a bunch of Muppets. Soon the Tanks might be warming up again. -
Thailand’s digital wallet project: Green light to make cash splash
grubman replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So it sounds like the government will now tax Foreigners living Thailand and then give that to the population I guess the government needs to get the money from some where to be able to afford the new pay out. Or maybe its a way to boost popularity for the new government, that way ever one will like them, hasn't this been done in the past and look what happened to the prime minister, ohhh sorry he's now the puppeteer of the new government. -
