Firstly you will have noticed there are many thai visa experts on women,thai women and thailand.Unfortunetly none of them are really experts and as you can see many come across as teenage idiots arguing.Can see you are 41 so you will have had some experience with the ladies but i think everyone will agree thailand is a totaly differant ball game to england.

You say you arnt looking for anything serious but also dont want to pay for the girl,my advice would be go to ko san road plenty of western girls there for free and find yourself a proper thai nightclub where there is no falang away from the tourist areas for the thai girls.Also if you dont want to pay stay away from pattaya and buy a box of tissues.

I agree i think everybody drinks more over here,back in england i dont drink as much only at the football,birthdays etc.Mostly to do with because im working most of the time and that has given me a good excuse not to drink.I think drinking is like smoking its habitual and im not sure in other countries but in England everything revolves around drinking.

If you go watch the football with mates you have a drink,rugby,cricket,horse racing is the same.If you bump into a friend you havnt seen for a while you go for a couple of pints(and get home the next morning).Birthdays,christening's,funeral's,stag night,wedding,chritmas,easter,st georges day,bonfire night,house warming party just about any occasion involves drink.

Also a big factor is when the sun is out in the England(which isnt much) everyone goes out for a beer,so us English/Brits associate the sun with beer and then theres boredom,if you have no project,no hobbies and the kids have grown up and flown the nest then you go see your mate down the falang bar and then it becomes habitual like anything else.

im not saying your seeking male attention and to be honest i think this thread's a wind up but anyway a couple of weeks ago i was in a 7/11 got my goods and was waiting at the til to be served,the two girls working were chatting about something to do with work but knew i was there waiting.when they finished talking one of the girls came to the til but then saw a thai guy going towards the other til so she did a u-turn and went to serve him with a huge grin on her face.the other girl saw what she did and shouted at her then came over to serve me,i just laughed and the girl who served me shook her head and said sorry.

now you could call this racism but i wouldnt,i just think this girl was an idiot and did this sort of thing with whoever came in the shop she didnt like.I can give you a few examples like that over the last 7 years i have been coming here but it wouldnt be many.

I think the thais are very welcoming as a whole,i have been sat in a bar alone and thai guys will tell me to come and join them,that wouldnt happen in England,infact would the English tolerate thousands of asians coming over and doing what they do in Thailand? i dont think so!

rather than throw yourself off a balconey(if that really is suicide!) or hang yourself in the bathroom of your hotel so that the poor old maid finds you.

Why dont we have a suicide street in maybe pattaya where people can go and maybe have a last drink with their friends in a very comfortable bar with the best pattaya girls and when the time comes the girls take you up to the stand the noose goes round your neck you give them the last few notes in your pocket and when you are ready you press a button and down you go into a box.

You could call it suicide soi or suicide drive where you have differant hanging points down the soi,like lamp posts down a street.

It would also be good for tourism,people are obsessed with death and the family could come in the future and say this is where your great grandad died but dont worry he died a very happy man.

But seriously if an old guy wants to check out,i say let him go,if he/she is in pain and the quality of life is none then they should be able to say enough is enough and die with the family around them not alone in a hotel room.

I do have a problem though with young guys who have children,its becoming all too comman now for guys in there 30's/40's commiting suicide,many seem to get involved in drugs and then cant handle the come down and as soon as they face a problem in their life they cant cope with it and check out.I think its unbelievably selfish especially if they have children.

We could at least try to encourage them to start to notice our different nationalities, it will be one step closer to make them realize we are people too.

I don't like it when motorcycle drivers just put their helmet before you talk to them to tell them where you want to go and make you repeat 15 times "sam sip jet" 37

Ok my accent is crap but the nicer one next to him has got it straight away and tells him in good thai "soi samsip jet";

Yet he still wants apparently to give me a a free Thai lesson on pronunciation, pretends not to understand, and makes me repeat over and over "Sâaaam Sip Djeeeet"

Obviously you arrived on a "let's have fun with the Farang " moment and if you are fed up with this crap / are late / tired/ hot & thirsty and just want to go home and ask the other nicer guy to get a ride, you become not only the horrible person dishonor Thai language, but also a motorcycle taxi organization vandal - they have a queue system-

So the first guy loses faces (he wish he could have humiliate the Farang much longer) and he gestures to overcharge me (two finger-20bahts instead of 15) which obviously is nothing, but it still feel like you can never get it right, and feel frustrated.

Ok I have not been burned, raped, or killed in an horrible manner, but it's never nice.

This is like watching "match of the day". Im no expert on cars but when im carrying a heavy load in my van i would pump some more pressure into the back tyres,this has never had any adverse effects with my vans or my tyres.

To stick with the topic i would say that the thai's pump the pressure up because for eg if they are in a pickup carrying about 30 people for 6 hours or they were overloaded with crates of leo they would probably need it.Remember this isnt the west this is thailand and overloading is everwhere also the roads are not up to the same standard as the west.this maybe contributes to the obsession but this is just my observation im not an expert like all the racing drivers etc on here so forgive me if im wrong.

I think its a case of knowing your car,van with the tyres that are on it.

Not near the border,think i will pay the 1900bt at immigration it seems the safest and cheapest option

My visa runs out on the 16th of April but my flight back to the uk is on the 18th of April,i have already had a 2 two month visa which started from the 16th of November 2011 and took me upto 16th of march.I got another 1 month stamp through thai immigration which takes me up until the 16th of April.

My wife rung immigration today and they said i can get a 7 day extension which will cost 1900bt or i can go to the airport and pay 2 days overstay which will cost 1000bt.My wife asked if there would be any ramifications if i overstayed and the official said she didnt know.

I dont like the sound of overstaying because it may effect me with visa's,work permit's etc in the future.

1900bt seems like the best option to me but is this the correct price and how is overstaying 2 days percieved in thailand?

I would start a decent bus/minivan tour company that isn't a death trap or corrupt so things get stolen and you actually feel safe on a journey. Also the vans and buses would have to pass a health and safety inspection first before they hit the road.

Yes i agree,too many people are dying because of these mini bus operators,bald tryes,dodgy brakes and also the drivers who dont care about their passengers,they only care about getting from 1 place to another as quickly as possible.Just done a return from huahin to bangkok,i couldnt sleep either way because the drivers are constantly braking and are about 6 inches away from the car infront.

There is a 1st class bus service that i use from khon kaen - bangkok called nakhon chai air,this is excellent and the best bus service i have seen in thailand,they drive sensibly,you have a comfortable reclining chair that massages you,you have your own tv with all the the new cinema films also a games console if you fancy a computer game,a cover to keep you warm and you get a meal and drinks aswell.The 6 hour drive from khonkaen - bangkok is only 384฿.But you have to book in advance to get a seat.

The timing of the sacking of grayson was strange,he was sacked after the birmingham where i heard we played really well,i would have kept going with grayson at least until the end of the season but we were leaking goals and it seemed at times grayson didnt know what he was doing with the defence switching it round all the time.

But warnock has a good record in the lower leagues for getting teams promoted so all the best to him,hes done well so far and apart from the forest game hes stopped the leak also hes brought in danny webber(who we tried to get under grayson and failed) also robinson from bolton who will be brilliant in the championship.

With regards to the camera,it is rude and lets face it you were filming the girls outside the bars! Like alot of the other members have said i think youtube has alot to do with it,they wouldnt broadcast being a bar girl when they went back to the town or village so why would they like someone filming them and potentialy broadcasting it to the world.Also how many falang want to be on youtube chatting to bar girls dressed as a schoolgirl that looks about 14.

In the 80's and 90's during the dark days of football hooliganism anyone carrying a camera was beaten up and there camera smashed up and that includes the bbc,itv etc because the film would get back to the police and the hooligans prosecuted.Its a similar type of thing here with the bar girls,although the bar girls are not as violent something you should be thankful for.
