  1. I am currently in Surin, and my last time here was 2 years ago, when Farang Connection was open.

The restaurant has now been closed some 2 years, and am wondering why it has closed?   Did the owner lose interest, or not enough customers?  i know when the original owner died many years ago, the place started to g0 downhill very rapidly

    just interested to know

  2. Can someone please tell me the names of the car rental companies that are inside the main terminal at Suvarnabhumi?

I seem to remember last time I used AVIS but it was a mile or so away from the main building, and the car had no sat nav and was rather old.  I was not impressed.  Then time I was driving to Surin, then onto Buriram, where I dropped it off at the airport, which was quite handy.

This time I would like a different company, will then drive down to Pattaya onto Surin then drive back to BKK airport to drop off.

I am looking for sat nav, 4x4, and a newish car.

    Any recommendations please????

  3. It might be possible to get a passport in one day if it was an emergency. It would have to done at the main passport office at Chaeng Wattana.

Normal procedure is to apply for the passport and they send the new one by EMS within a few days.

List of passport offices is here in Thai. http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/organize/21037-%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%A7%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B7%E0%B8%AD%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%97%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%87.html

    Thanks everyone for your answers

  4. Thai nationals can enter Thailand on expired passports.

    Thanks for quick response.

Then is it possible for my son to leave Thailand on the UK passport (if they cannot get the Thai passport because of time issues ) . Would this cause any problems? The UK passport won't have any immigration stamps

( we can then get a new Thai passport later, in the UK )

If they enter on their expired Thai passports they would have to get new ones before leaving the country. It takes less than a week to get a Thai passport. There are passport offices located in all areas of the country.

Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to get a new Thai passport within 1 day in BKK do you know please?

  6. Hi

We live in the UK. My Thai wife has to take our son (both dual nationality Thai / Brit ) to Thailand for at least 2 months. My wife will come home within a week, but leave our son in Thailand. This is at short notice. So they will leave the UK within 1 - 2 weeks. Their Thai passport have just expired (3rd July 2016). They have Thai ID cards. They can go to BKK passport office and get new Thai passports issued when there.

So they will have to leave the UK on their British passports and what about entering Thailand. Immigration can extend a tourist visa by 30 days i think if requested, so that will be 2 months. But what happens if my son has to stay 2 1/2 months? If he leaves Thailand on his UK passport will he get in trouble? It is a bit complicated. I guess he cannot leave on his (hopefully ) newly issued Thai passport as that may cause a problem with the UK passport.

So is 2 months holiday visa the best option here ?

    Thanks in advance

  7. we brought our Yorkie with us from the states a few years ago

you will have to check with the airline,to see if you can bring your dog on board with you

we had to check ours in,as it was a long flight

as for collecting your dog ,he will come up on the baggage with the suitcase's,he will be the last one up

if you have to check your dog in,make sure that you tell the flight att. at the gate that you have a dog with you, don't get on the plane with them telling you that your dog is on board, there should be a ticket that they will give you that shows that your dog is aboard.

once your dog has arrived, take the dog and all the paper work to am. control, which is in the far corner on the same floor,as baggage claim.

it is maned 24/7 it should cost you 100TB,they will give you some paper work, keep it,customs might want to look at it,after that your good to go.

just remember that once your dog is in Thailand it is very hard to take him back out of Thailand

    hope this helps

    Thanks for all the replies

ok, so he will come up with the luggage. bet that was a giggle to see your dog arrive like that

you said ''am. control'' what is that exactly?

    thanks for some good advice

  8. Hi

I will eventually be bringing my little Yorkshire Terrier dog to Thailand from the UK.

I have seen a leaflet at 'pets at home' explaining what you need to do and it also gives a useful website in the UK.

Can i just ask a few questions please?

Are there any airlines that will allow you to take your pet onboard and sit with you? ( my dog is small )

Can anyone recommend a good company in the UK that will help facilitate a smooth and stress free departure?

On arrival at Suvarnabhumi, is the place where we collect our dog in the main arrivals hall? What is it called?

Can anyone recommend a good Thai company that can help facilitate a smooth, speedy and stress free collection of my dog? And is it worth doing this?

    Thanks for your replies

  9. I Follow man utd and would like to be able to watch their every game, including champions league. I guess the easiest way is online. Stream the game, and connect the computer to the TV, via hdmi. Not sure how good the picture quality would be though.

I don't mind paying for the service, as long as it shows every game, is high quality, and reliable

i have seen wwwww.365sport.tv . They also show the golf and rugby

    Anyone use this.?

Or what service do you use that you like?

    Thanks

  10. I am surprised that they don't do terminal drop-off. I used them once a few years ago and dropped off at the Arrivals door 8, right beside their kiosk where I collected the car. I agree with the OP's old car complaint as the Fortuner they gave me was high mileage.

Next time use Budget who will meet you kerbside at Departures (with 10 minutes notice by mobile phone) and sign off the car there and then.

    Yeah agree, budget are good

    Thanks for map

Bit worried about taking it back. A 6 inch piece of fairing fell off which is sort off on the underside of the rear door body. Probably fell off due to being a right old banger. lucky i spotted it. Just wondering the cost to me

  11. not sure if i am allowed to post this website. but is it is http://ukcitizenshipsupport.com/

you have to pay for this

my wife's memory and reading skills are not good. sorry to say, but with the help of this website, and i mean this 100%, she worked through 3/4 of the practise questions, and there were 100's of them, and she passed her life in uk test 2 weeks ago.

without the help of this website she would not have had the confidence to do the test

    well done my wife :)

  13. Looking at the list below, and thinking of who we can ask, would a fireman (list says fire service official ) or a health visitor ( someone who visits house bound people in their homes to give them their medication and do injections ) ????? be acceptable

ive now answered my own question so no point in replying. thank you anyway, my fireman friend can act as referee

  14. i have done a search for this on the forum, but have no luck

    ie http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/659376-referees-and-identity-for-british-citizenship/

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/589418-uk-naturalisationcitizenship-referees/

but when i click the link given in the reply in the thread, i cannot see the list. maybe they are now out of date

can someone please give me an up to date list of acceptable referees.???

would someone who owns their own small chain of estate agents be included on the list? i guess a headteacher would be on the list?
