  1. Would you do the same with a Western fiancee (non-bar girl) ?

If the answer is "yes", then the answer is "yes".

yes i would, though in the UK prenuptual agreements are not legally binding.  i think a western lady would understand better, why i had to do it, maybe, maybe not, but i dont want to put any unnecessary doubts into my TG mind. ( about trust )

  2. Hi, i am due to get engaged with my TG in October.   I know marriage is suppose to be about trust and love, and i do trust and love her.  But I own many properties in the UK, which i rent out with my mother.  She is not a BG, and has a respectable job. i will be living in thailand.

Should i protect my assets by making a pre-nup?

Are pre-nups recognised in a thai court?

if i ask her to sign a prenup maybe she will think i do not trust her.  My situation is different from a lot of people who marry TG's.  i have a lot more to lose.

    any opinions welcome

  3.  My unearned income is from properties i rent out, on which i pay about 10k a year to the tax man.   i am a long way off claiming a pension yet.  my understanding is that i complete my self assessment as usual, but if i register as a non uk resident i am not liable to tax, as long as i stay out of the country for more than 9 months.   this is the way forward for me i think, as 10k can go a long way in thailand, as well as my normal income.   this way i can live very well, and still keep all my properties in uk.

  4. Hi

one day soon i think i will have to make the decision to move to Thailand on a more permanent basis.  I have made a brief enquiry with the tax people and they inform me that to be a non UK resident and so not liable for Uk income tax, you first have to inform them you will be a non-resident, and you still have to complete a tax return, and you also have to be out of the country for a maximum of about 90 days per tax year.  if i save myself about 10,000 pounds in Uk tax it has to be good.   But if your (un)earned income is sent to thailand, would i have to pay thai tax on it??

also what are the important things to remember to do, if you are moving to thailand??  for example - informing the tax office.  where would you get important letters sent to, if you have no friends you can rely on or family in UK?  could you keep your UK credit cards?  what other things are important to remember to do, before you move.   any tips would be welcome

  5. Skype call list can easily be faked by just putting them in a word document, you want to take screenshots and then print them off.

    This is what you do:

    1. On skype chat go to the top and click 'view' and scroll down to 'history'. Then by the list click 'all calls' and this will bring up your whole call list.

    2. Take a screen shot. Press the "Prnt Scrn" button. (keep scrolling down to take multiple if list is long).

    3. Open Microsoft Paint. To do this, click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint. Click inside the white part of the screen.

    4. Go to the Edit menu and click Paste or you can press and hold "Ctrl" and tap V. Then you may crop if you like.

    5. Click File > Save As. In the box that pops up, change the "Save As Type" to PNG or JPG. Type in a filename for your image. Choose a place to save, like the Desktop, and click save.

Once you have saved your screen shots just print them off, looks really good and official.

This is what i have done...

    thanks

  6. seems a lot of work - in that case would it not be easier to set up a tuk telecom account / dialwise account, and dial through your BT landline, and have BT send you a monthly itemised bill???????

i am using skype at the moment, but i guess if i do the printouts every month, it wont take too long

  7. You can get a print out of your calls made from Rebtel and Skype i believe also have this option to print out the history.

thanks for reply.   if i made my own printout, would the visa people except that??  ( or can skype send you a printout on offical skype headed paper? ) - anyone know pls

  8. Hello all, i am new to these forums, and hope to read up on the very useful information that has been posted here.

I am heartened after reading 2 posts, one from 7by7 ( moderator ) and Roblbl  ( stickied post ), about any future visa application, but of course it may take more than application i know.

i have just met a Thai girl in Singapore ( end of feb), and will be flying out to see her for a holiday in April, june, october, and January.  then i will be applying for a visitor visa for her to come and see me in UK.  so it will be at least a year before i apply, and in between, there will be 4 visits and calling her every day  ( well nearly every day )

i have seen what has to be included in any application, and feel confident i can provide everything that is needed.

my question is however is this.  since i returned from my holiday on saturday, i have phoned my thai friend from my landline.  i just looked online to see how much that cost, and it is very expensive, so i set up a skype account which is about 5pounds to phoner her, unlimited calls for 1 month.  but i am not sure they can provide you with an account of how many calls you made.   this will be important information in any visa request.  so should i not phone her from skype?  should i set up instead,  a tuk telecom account / dialwise account and so have the number of calls i make, recorded on my BT bill??   thanks
