  1. If the reason for going to Pattaya, is for the beach, and not the sin, there are MUCH better locations than Pattaya. Try Hua Hin, Cha-Am, Koh Lanta or Koh Chang, to name just a few.

I also feel that Bangkok is much safer than Pattaya and has a LOT more to offer, even if sin is what you are after.

Pattaya is a one trick pony and I personally find it gets very boring, very quickly.

that's how sex is called now ? ...Sin ?
  2. The price of limes must have a huge bearing on this - the prices for them are getting out of hand, i saw shitty little ones in Tesco at the weekend 12 baht each!!

And yet my friends who like San Miguel light are still getting a wedge of lime stuffed into the tops of their bottles.

    That could end soon!

At a watering hole I like to frequent, I used to get a slice of lime with my neer. A couple of weeks ago, they told me I could have my lime if I was willing to pay extra. I said no thank you, and enjoyed my beer, sans lime.

    a little cheap charlie no?

  3. And it goes on and on,they will never learn.

Little or nothing can be taught to members of "the superior race" as their education/society indoctrinates.

Yes , reminds me of the "little, would be dictator" Suthep who has stated that he pays no attention to fallang who know nothing ! Just imagine how it will be on the roads when that idiot takes control of Thailand.

    RIP to the children

Old Sailor you misquoted him, why am i surprised, Do you work for the Sun newspaper?

I'm still fuming at the PIG who made those comments celebrating the death of young innocents, and i mean fuming. It's strange what winds you up. I can't understand why he has not been arrested for his comments. This is why people take justice into their own hands here, when you have scumbags like that working in the police what chance of justice does the average joe have

The death of children does get ignored many times in this country and although road safety has improved in the last 15 years it's still well short of what it could be.

The companies have to get their act together and the government needs to ban certain companies from the roads that don't. Simple spot checks on buses and real enforcement of laws would go along way to saving some lives in the future.

    dream on...

  4. After five years or so we're finally leaving the village life behind.

It began back in '08 when we rushed ourselves into buying a piece of property what needed a lot of work doing. After 6 months or so it was ready for us to move in. The house was never up to the standard most of us are used to but it was ours and it was also my first ever house I'd owned (well, her house). We had about 2.5 rai with plenty of fruit trees which I loved, just to go out your back door and pick fruit from a tree put a big smile on my face. Our house was at the very back of the village surrounded by lush greenery, very pleasant on the eye.

It all came too light when I spent a total of 8 months there out of work, I knew it just wasn't for me. In my thirties and my wife in her late twenties it was now time to move into the city and try and sell the house. We've now sold it and we are both over the moon, albeit we're still in Isaan (Sakon), it's so much better for us. She now has a 5 minute drive to work and I only have a 10 min drive to the local farang hangout.

I'm not knocking the village life whatsoever, I see it as an experience.

Just thought I'd share my little story.

I thought i would become crazy in the village, really. But now in Kk we feel good and we aldo bought a new house.

  5. ... and now, say you have that card.

I doubt any Thai anywhere has any idea what it is or what to do with it.

I could be wrong, since I have no idea what it is or gives you "elite" status.

Showing your money around, gives us all "elite" status here in Thailand.

yeap this is well true ! Only cash is king. The card is a plastic chip. Try to pay a whore with that Elite card....

  6. If YL has appropriately arranged her time in managing domestic issues why is she missing so often from parliament and various committees ? Recently she said she would attend a major debate in the house if she didn't have anything else to attend to. It's hard to see what her priorities are other than jetting off somewhere.

The Foreign Office official who has defended her trips saying they were designed to increase Thailan's standing in the world community, do they actually consider the country is of much relevance on the big stage as I doubt anyone else does ?

There is so much going on at home yet YL insists on playing absentee PM and her government lives in a fantasy world where they think have, and will geteven more, big face around the world.

    i agree completely with you.

Yesterda I was watching on youtube some of the speeches she made wherever she's gone. When in english.... Whatta shame man !! How such iletrate could get a master in a US university ?? 'Cause none was understandind a sh.t of what she was saying. And with Obama speech... She got EPIC.

Better for her let she at Siam Paragorn all year than let she open the mouth in inglish!

  7. Perhaps it is entirely possible that this behavior is an indication that Thais are indeed capable of expressing themselves as human beings, and that perhaps this is a means to break out of their cultural stiff-necked stubbornness which is intolerant to saying what you've got to say, and instead pounds the human spirit and zeal into a weak, feeble0minded, timid state we see today in most kids.

It is entirely possible that this could bring on a revolution in the next generation or so where the younger set gets fed up with "being honest" via phubbing and begins to fight back at their own culture and tells the old generation "Shut the F..K up and let me finish what I was trying to say, and quit trying to tell me to shut up, or that I cannot do that."

This is an interesting case, but at present, I do not see much use for the kids to not phub as there isn't much to participate in with the idiots around them who treat them like furniture or servants anyways.

most of them are furnitures, servants or id..ts !!

  8. Not so long ago, Thailand had plans to put some serious effort on improving the english education all over the country, and to turn english into their official second language.

However, the plans were killed by conservative government fossils. They believed that taking English as its second official language might lead to "misunderstandings that Thailand had been colonized in the past." The minister indicated that countries in the region who have English as their second language were, in fact, all viewed as former colonies.

So yeah, Thailand avoids english because they are afraid to be viewed as a colony (the usual loss of face I guess?)

  9. PM Yingluck reassures Switzerland on Thailand's reconciliation attempt

    By English News

    Posted Image

BERNE, Sept 11 – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has expressed appreciation to the Swiss government for supporting Thailand’s reconciliation process and for buying rice from the kingdom.

In talk with Swiss president Ueli Maurer during her European tour, she said Thailand was determined to strengthen democracy and unity in the country.

She thanked the Swiss government for its constructive role in Thailand’s reconciliation process by assigning a technical expert to work with the Truth for Reconciliation Committee.

Ms Yingluck invited Swiss investors to join in the development of mega projects in Thailand as well as the Thai-invested Dawei deep sea port project on the Andaman Sea in Myanmar, and said Thailand was ready to reactivate trade activities with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

EFTA comprises Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein.

Ms Yingluck showed appreciation to Switzerland for importing more than 10,820 tonnes of rice from Thailand last year and expressed hope that Thailand would continue to export rice to the country.

The leaders of the two countries also discussed cooperation on tourism, security management, promotion of small- and medium-sized enterprises and management of electronics garbage.

Ms Yingluck is currently leading a Thai delegation to visit Montenegro, Switzerland, Italy and the Vatican. (MCOT online news)

  10. I’ve experienced almost similar story myself. I’m Thai and thought I’ll try my luck on love via internet dating.

I got approached by an English man (so he claimed). We chat for a month and this guy was telling me about his big investment plan of 700 000 GBP and decided to buy a plan ticket to meet with me in Thailand and tell me to prepare myself cos he is bringing some cash to invest….(RIGHT!!)

For some reason this “rich man” who got lots of money to invest did not buy a direct flight ticket to Thailand (if I have that kind of money I would’ve bought first class ticket), instead he bought a ticket that stop in Kuala Lumpur….

Anyway, to make story short, the morning of his arrival in Malaysia, I got a phone call from Malaysian’s customs officer (so he said he was) claiming that they have arrested my guy on the charged of money laundry. According to the fake officer, my guy was bringing with him almost a hundred thousand GBP cash. The Malaysian gov. would not release him cos the nature of the case is a very serious one until someone bails him out.

But there is a solution after long and hard investigations (hahahaha). The solution was that I have to send money to this customs guy so the Malaysian gov. would let my guy come to me with that big fat cash he was carrying with him….

I told them that I’m greedy but NOT that greedy and stupid and told them to fuc_k off!

It’s amazing what people would do for money to day!

jade 8888 the same strory, exactly the same story happened to a friend of my wife around 6 years ago. But she paid and lot of money. When they recieved the money they asked more and more until she ended paying 350000 THB.

Of course she never told police anything. Because she was too much ashamed. And some years after she lost 200000 THB with another scammer.

That trick of carrying is called the scam 911 it is made mostly by Nigerians.

  11. NASA's Apollo navigator found dead with rope around neck in Thailand

    By Robert Stanton

BANGKOK: -- A retired NASA official who served on the Apollo Navigation Team has been found dead inside a home in Thailand, the Bangkok Post reported Tuesday in its online editions.

Police Col. Ekarat Intasueb, chief of Mae Sot police station, told the newspaper that Paul Milford Muller, Ph.D., was found with a rope tied around his genitals and waist and another rope tied around his neck, hanging from a knob of his bedroom door.

There were no signs that Muller, 76, had been assaulted, according to the Bangkok Post.

Muller appeared to have died from asphyxiation or from a heart attack after a drug overdose, police said.

Investigators told the Bangkok Post that equipment for injecting crystal methamphetamine, five methamphetamine pills and several sex toys were also found in the room.

Police suspect that Muller had been dead about three days when his body was found in the Tak province of Thailand. The body was sent to Mae Sot hospital for a post-mortem examination.

    (photographs courtesy of Facebook.com)

NONTHABURI: -- Staff in a Nonthaburi bank reported an armed robbery by a foreign man who escaped with over 300,000 Baht on Wednesday.

Described as “European” in appearance, the bank robber queued patiently in the Bangkok Bank in Tesco Lotus, before presenting the cashier with a note, in “semi” English, which told them that he had both a gun and knife and demanded that they give him the money and remain silent , as his getaway driver, on a motorbike, waited for him outside

Thought to be between 35 and 50 and wearing dark sunglasses to avoid instant recognition the man dressed in a blue shirt and denim trousers and put the money in a large bag before leaving hastily and riding away on the back of the waiting bike. [more...]

  13. If i understood well, it means that also more prostitutes (males & females) are needed too.

Not all the tourists traveling to Thailand do it for sex tourism, but a huge part of them yes !

Then, maybe the team of PM should consider to "allow" prostitution in the Kingdom and also in allowing more pimps to work openly.... Oh ! Damn i forgot they have already an expert in pimping girls that's Mr. Deputy Chuwit ......

  14. Maybe it is an embarrasing image for some Thais that dont have anything to do with that huge business.

I remember this Swiss old joke that once translated says something like that : "You cannot have the butter, and the money for buy the butter."

The huge income prostitution brings to Thailand is very underestimated by the stats, if you count also the pletoria of farangs that once back to their Countries continue sending money by westrn union to the women here,,,,, and those who marry prostitutes and spend millions in bjying houses cars etc.etc to their wives, we are well beyond any stat.

Then as money rules the Country, a little bit shame is nothing compared to the pfofit of that image of prostitution.

  15. Yes! Free them all... They will restart the same shit they did asap. !!!Sent from my iPhone using ThaiVisa appthey were paid thugs....they'll restart it when their paymaster want them to restart. So at this government no risk, if they loose the next election than there will be fire again.

Yes extremely correct ! I agree with your quote. Even it's highly recomended to dont talk politics in this Country I will only say that the postcard's picture of the "thailand paradise"(sea sex & sun) that many foreigners have in mind is a bit Obsolete these years...
