  1. Why mention Nigeria, Niger Delta and lagos is same thread discussing Pattaya and pedophiles? Its nothing to do with Cocain or any mind altering substance.

Lets leave Africa off this topic until the next drug arrest or related news.

I believe the visas for for the the murderer and the child molester were in order and they were always properly dressed.

The news from pattaya would never take a different tone until a major clean up is done around the town. In 1998 I went there to party with a mate and was quite hungry when I woke up in the morning , I stumble into a place I thought was where I could have a nice breakfast, but all that was offered there was a blowjobs, it was not even noon.

  2. Some thai women that have money love to trow them around. I had a gf that was always wanting to give me millions in loans, but that was about the time I was trying to dump her without offending her pride.

She was hopeless alcoholic, and if you are not close to her , you would never know. She appear normal during the day and does her work effortlessly while still acting hiso, but it only takes her 30 minutes whenever there is an opportunity to become a huge embarrassment.

And OP, I do not see you being in any trouble, women give me stuff all the time, but I normally give them first.

  3. try and get her a legit visa to a real country. dont fear it, it may work out and help her get future visas to real top shelf countries

<deleted> is a "real" country ??.....either a country or not a country....

Hahahaha, I guess by a real country, he/she meant where those old men that retire in Pattaya came from. Or where a B100 will not get you off a speeding ticket and most places you would never be called a 'hansum' man by girls half your age, even if you name is Alan Greenspan.

  5. If they cry out in English, at least you not be so bitter.

I had one two houses away when I was a little boy, and we had to a catholic mass every 0630 most mornings before school, so we just used the noise as our wake up alarm.

That was when Osama was still on the straight and narrow, and everyone was very friendly with everything.

  6. I once had breast mumps, or so I thought, I showed it to my nice regular doc at Bumrungrad, he referred me to a skin doc, though the topical she prescribed was magical and cleared it in a few days, her demeanor was like I was bothering her.

I had to do a CT scan, normally they tell you the price and sometimes you pay upfront before the proceedure.

Apart from that incident, Bumrungrad has always been outstanding for me.

About BNH, most people do not what they are missing by not going there, from recent visits by a close friend of mine, it seems they work with several teaching hospitals including the red cross on speciality cases, even a treatment is new, they are on it before most business hospitals around town.

  7. A friend of mine, was already half way up the ramp of a highway toll booth in Bangkok, and realized he left his wallet at home, so he removed his seat belt and was frantically searching for his wallet , a cop sighted him near the toll as he approached and stopped him for not buckling up, then asked for his license , he told him he just unbuckled to search for his wallet and can not pay the toll fees even, and cars were already lined up behind him. The cop whipped out B40 from his pocket, gave it him and told him to beat it.

  8. Happy to know thatall he got is the money and you are alright.

I have never been robbed, I hope I ll do as you. I very much doubt I ll hand over anything if I am not bleeding out my stomach.

    Scary scary. use the car.

  9. The way some of us still view any one of color still baffles me.

I once saw a non colored tourist walk from banglapul to Pantip without a shirt, its was a pretty hot day and the I was in traffic in an air conditioned car, may be I should have hollered at him to dress up.

The guys eating rice with minimal clothing might have a very good reason for doing that, its not like the poster that saw them was meeting them in that condition everyday he walks by. May be coming from Brixton or Compton might have had its influnce on his 'nonsensical' thinking.

I think he was referring to the lack of clothing not as a disparaging characteristic, but to indicate that these guys felt right at home where they were - the lack of clothig indicated residency rather than a passing visit. As for taking note of there being "people of colour" in that setting, it is "racist" in the strict definition of the word, meaning discerning by race, but it is not bigoted, as in making negative judgments based on the men's colour. He simply saw a very unusual situation (particularly unusual because a large percentage of Thais appear to be racist) and mentioned it. I suppose he was supposed to be colour blind and not notice whether the people by the tracks were black or white or yellow or blue....

We could start a poll to determine the appropriate amount of clothing a person should have on them in Bangkok.

Lets assume that these folks just were on their way back to their nice airconditioned condos after a game of footie across the tracks and stopped to have the delicious rice the stall was selling as the poster happened to saunter by.

He was being stereotypical when he brought up the issue of a group of shirtless men of color eating rice at a stall by the tracks in thread of Foreign drug dealers targeting Thialand. He might not have mentioned it if it was a thread about pedophiles.

    Just saying.

  11. Took a short cut from Payathai to Pratunam via the Payathai train tracks the other day. There is a desperately poor community living next to the tracks, quite literally like the poorest I have seen in Thailand. Yet amidst the daily comings and goings of the people were a number of African men. Two were sitting down at a table eating rice with little clothes on, another two were perched on a rubbish tip and shouted at me "hey, yo, wassup" aggressively as I walked through...I felt like I was in Brixton (London)- I hollered back in my best gruff Cockney voice " yea, you kool bruv"...Then another guy walked around the corner with a big gold watch draping from his arm speaking loudly on a mobile phone. Now before the PC brigade go mental I am not at all racist, but clearly this was odd that these guys were living amongst one of the poorest communities in Bangkok on a railway line. I left baffled as to what they were doing there. If they can only afford to stay there then surely they don't have legit visas, right? And it is rather odd that the Thais of that small community were accommodating them....I hate to jump to conclusions for fear of stereotyping but can only think that this was a good place to stay out of the way of the police, perhaps they are paying the community to let them stay there incognito. Or perhaps the police said stay there and out of sight and give us a cut of your dealings...thoughts?

Your thinking appears to be nonsensical. Perhaps they don't find it easy to secure rented accommodation in other areas. Wasn't it much like that in Britain forty years ago? That people would be denied accommodaion because of the colour of their skin? Also in the USA?

I am black , I read the papers and see the news in Thailand. Been here 11 years, its totally unreasonable to defend the actions of some of the colored folks in the kingdom.

Yes, some are not the best folks you would like let into your homes and neighborhoods, but still these does not and will never constitute the majority of blacks that enter the kingdom.

I have seen the group that hang out near the tracks that was mentioned above, the area in question is under the new Makkasan airport rail link stop. Now the first time I saw them sitting around and having beers by the tracks, I was not too happy, so I asked around. Seeing them from the tracks sends a wrong picture to an outsider from the area.On that side of the tracks behind the shacks are budget hotels and apartments which serves the huge market of Pratunam. They actually are not out of their way, they just like the cheap shops and the local feel, they are 95% Ghananians. They are seen by the locals as harmless and do not pose any threat to anyone, or sell anything illegal from there.

The area in question is supervised by at least 4 different police departments, not counting the Immigration. The Phayathai police station is right by the corner, and 2 out of every Thai male you encounter in the area are in law enforcement and the rest are very tough Thais you would not like to cross.

You would not think that the Baiyoke hotel management would let them hang out there most evenings if they are a nuisance to them?

If you see them next time, just look across the tracks there are always a bunch of Thais sitting around a table, you could simply walk across the space and then tell me if that is not one of the most policed area of Bangkok.

The drug gang left Pratunam about 7 years ago.

I can smell or tell a lowlife from 100 meters irrespective of the color, height or haircut style, and I know in Thailand it covers a wide range of races.

I had a bash at a good hotel here once, the security caught someone smoking weed under the stairways, he is white, and nothing happened. Like Dave Chappelle told of his white friend that went to ask a cop for directions because he was too high to know where he was.

  12. If any cop calls you again, just tell him you have made a statement to the cops at the Dusit cop shop, and give them your lawyers number to call. If you need one, just ask.

Like someone else said, if giving the deposit is much of a hassle, its not a bad idea.

I have sold about 5 cars since I came to town, I just sign a couple of papers for the buyer at the place I am picking up the new one, drive off with the new one , leaving the old one behind. Never had a any problem.

  13. The kite that got the deal of his life, was on another thread complaining on how two cops literally stole B3500 from him yesterday with threats of impounding his car for speeding and them having seen the wad of cash in his wallet.

So we should keep mute on every reprehensible behaviors because at some point we all are reprehensible bunch?

If you really want to know why some of the replies are so toned, just take another look at the title of the thread and see whether the OP would gladly sleep with your wife in your bedroom with your wedding picture hanging from the ceiling. Just because he can do it do not mean he should or come to TV and boast about it.

I know a fella that convinced a lady to leave her husband only for him to lose his cojones in a prostate battle a few months later. Now guess who still mows the lawn in between them?

  14. Did you just get here last night?

They will be looking for the next white face to harass, ( thank God I am black), when you are speeding, there are set amount of money as fines, point deduction on your licence.

Vehicle registration, I have been driving here for 11 years, 6 different cars, and the only reason I drive my self is to go fast, really fast. I do not know what the vehicle registration looks like and I have been stopped like 15 times for speeding.

They would think you are the weird one, B3500 on the spot for speeding? were you high on something as well?

Methinks Karma is getting back at you for that house you bought from the wrong owner. its life.

Because he has a white face( do you know the guy then) thats why he got stopped???? a bit silly isnt it

    Somtampet,

You should cut down on the chilli.

Well, I could have been silly (sue me), since 99% of the foreigners in Thailand that drive are 'white', I just assumed. Since his name in 'Living in Exile' and he already said he is buying a whole block of houses for the in laws , I just assumed he is white too. I would not buy a house from the madam when his dude is across the pond. Then again, I am just being silly.

  16. Out of the box, the (coming soon) Ford Fiesta... which would leave you with a spare 500K (assuming top spec purchased).

More than enough Baht left over to install the KW coilover suspension (50K), The Ford Sweden supercharger kit (170K), a CAI kit (15K), a PumaSpeed or Mountune exhuast (60K), a all-round brake upgrade (60K) and some lightweight wheels and tires (40K), for a car that can do 0-100 in the 6's, stop, and go around corners :D

    Just saying.. ;)

Now I know why i keep seeing those little cars behind me when I am doing 180km.h for 5 hours. I always wonder why they sprint so well.

I bought one of the first 50 Ford focus when they came out here, I paid my deposit befoer the brochures were ready, after 2 years I sold it half the price I bought it. It was a drivers car , we did Bangkok Samui like 5 times, Phuket twice, we do go to Chiangmai and back to Bkk the same day. It needs an oil change after 15000kms and the kick down is not that slow.

Another cheap strong car is the Chevy Optra. You can push it around as hard as you want on the highways, the 1600cc seems to sprint off a lot quicker, but the 1800cc with rpm higher than 4000, you can tag behind a Decent Porsche all the way.

I have tried several Japanese badged models of same capacity, the engines grow weary fast after several hard driving trips.

To the OP , go for a Ford or a Chevy, forget the 2.0 camry, accord or teana, weight to push ratio is not impressive , except if you just go to pick people from the airport as a job.
