  1. Another fruitless visit to Tesco Khon Kaen.

    Just got back without any potatoes or onions.

    Looks like a visit to Makro tomorrow.

    Makro always seems to have plenty.

    What's your problem with potatoes ( in Lotasss ) laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png ;

    Here we are in Thailand and potatoes aren't the main course ...

    Eat stiky rice and you will not have any problem cheesy.gif

  2. I have had wine from Chateau de Loei that wasn't bad at all. Rarely see it in the stores, and not cheap either.

    yeah,...Chateau de Loei was it !!... I couldn't remember it...My wife and I had a couple bottles of that wine, and that was OK, not top !! but good enough to have with a good meal or on the balcony watching the sunset...it was good enough...

    In the North they have those fruit wines, made with those exotic fruits like leechee, Rambutan, Strawberry, pinaples,etc....very sweet....maybe too sweet...!! something like 99. Thb per bottle....you can find them on the border check point at Mae Sai....and on the road to it.

    But I would not call them wines, heavy fruit juices is more like it...! interesting tastes dough...

    Best regards.

    What you wrote with one image shot in front of Mae Fa Luang's arboretum - road 1149

  3. Maybe in front ( on the opposite side of the road, close to the U-Inn hotel of Sirikit hospital ) , the huge public hospital ;

    but if they rent a bicycle maybe the price per day will be high ;

    In my little town, Sawang Daen Din, ( Sakon Nakhon province ), Khun Neung who has a shop for modern bikes, rents a bicycle for 500 baht a day !!

    Better for you to buy a bicycle or to come from Chiang mai with yours.

    A suggestion :

    why not going to Khon Kaen from Chiang Mai on your bicycle ? tongue.png

  4. What am I doing so different? I just don't get these problems with dogs.

    Sure they bark, follow and even chase on the odd occasion..... But I never really feel under threat.

    I ride in Mae Taeng, all offroad, so the dogs are bush and village dogs, not Soi.

    I adopted a mates way of dealing with the dogs, I try and make friends with them, most you can, some never will. This approach has paid off over the years as I have found a small dog biscuit works better than a stick. However I understand this my not work everywhere and with every dog.....

    Living in E_San, I speak with them;

    my favorite phrase is :

    " Bo kin farang, bo sep " cheesy.gif

    Village or bush dogs aren't a problem but I don't like they run with me because they can stop just in front of my bicycle and I can fall down so I prefer to send to them some water from my plastic bottle .

  5. Cycling about 1200 to 1500 kilometers each month with my MTB ,

    what I do with dogs who wants to run with me..:

    use your water plastic bottle as a pistol and send a little bit water to them ..

    they will stop immediatly to run ..

    And it's free ..But don't say that to the good general, he wants we save water ..cheesy.gif

  6. Thank you FR

    and for those who have a little purse , like me laugh.png there is a new Bridge Panasonic which replaces the FZ 200, it's the FZ 300 which is tropicalised ; 600 euros in France .

    I have the Panasonic FZ200 and it's not tropicalised; ; I didn't knew before buying it ; in fact I didn't pay attention sad.pngsad.png ;

    and in Thailand if a camera isn't tropicalised it's a big Katrastrophe ;

    so much dust, evrywhere ...

  7. thais love camping

    farangs not so much as hotels are just to cheap and best camping spots are not accessible unless u have ur own transport.which most tourists do not have.

    used to see them in the 80's in Koh Samet but not any since

    Right but 99% of them are at the top of mountains in National parks where you can go with your tent or rent it at the rangers ;

  8. ... Out of interest, how mush would you expect to pay for this medical care?

    30 baht a year like a thai people tongue.png

    or maybe zero baht like a soldier in Thailand clap2.gif

    seriously if you go to a public hospital the bill is never steep , even you take the drugs there; at the hospital pharmacy .

  9. 100.000 baht a month ! why not a million baht a week ?

    Are you in the Rothschild family ? tongue.png

    I live here, in E-San with my wife , one child and ..... seven dogs tongue.png with less than 25.000 baht a month ;

    I know many farang from various nationality, some of them have good or very good income and they live like me .

    No need to have much money to live here.

    And about illness or medical problems, I have resolved the thing, I have no health insurance ;

    Public hospital or the crematorium ...of the nearest Wat ;cheesy.gif

    U can have the best and expensive medical insurance, ;

    when it's time to go....wai2.gif
