The small farmer hardly ever gets the 15,000 baht / tonne. Moisture content of 15% max is difficult to achieve when it comes out of the paddy at 20 - 25%. With no storage / drying facilities, they just sell it out of the field and get 10,000 baht. The middle man dries it and reaps the benefit. Great scheme!

Some rain this AM, but now sunny in Patong. Haven't seen that in a while.
-
The "sheltering from the rain" comment doesn't make much sense. Underneath the disco, at street level, are about 20 open air bar beers. Would have been easier to shelter here. But these bars usually close at 2AM.

Was a big fan of 91.5 in the old days. Still listen to the early morning BBC news between 6 - 8 AM. Stopped listening when the UK house music started a few years ago. Only listen in the car when going to the airport, since I can get the signal nearly all the way up.
For local driving, I now listen to 89.5. Music more to my taste. Not the same adverts every 15 minutes.
I am into 60's classic rock for the most part. Actually heard a Neil Young song on 89.5 last week. Would like more Led Zep, The Who, Sabbath, etc...

Just got back from KL visa run. Parked in the grass field. No problems and free. Not sure if I would do it if it was overnight.

Last time I was back in NJ, purchased about 2 dozen thick Italian hot sausages from the local grocery store. Put them in the freezer wrapped in aluminum foil for a day. Packed them in my case and wrapped around a couple of T-shirts for insulation. 24 hours later unpacked them in Phuket and they were basically still frozen. Had the mother of all BBQ's the following day sausage sandwichs on baquette w/ my special red and green pepper / onion / garlic / etc... relish (basically an Italian sausage sandwich to anybody back home). It's funny what we will do for comfort food.

BB, are you going to sell the Italain hot saugage at your place or at the Deli Supermarket? The Deli stocked some in the old days, but I haven't seen much lately. They also shrink down to 1/2 original size when cooked.

I think THB 1500 per seat was on the high side. Especially with a family. I also think that having touts outside lowered the perceived quality of the show.

Red Sox (no PATS) doormat.

Finally stopped by the other day for a Rueben. The only problem is that it was too big. Had 1/2 for lunch and the other 1/2 for dinner. Very tasty.
Bill - I love the Boston door mat!

Tried Archee Restaurant a few days ago for the first time. Interesting pad see u gai with crunchy garlic on top and a dark sauce and tamarind prawns. Delish. With about 3 beers, THB 400.

Go to dbd.go.th and first check for business name. Just put in the first word of the company. Then scroll down until you find it. Write down the registration number.
Then go to the companies in Thailand area. You will need to register, but it is OK for foreigners. Once inside, enter the registration number and you will get balance sheet, P&L, juristic person, etc...

The FB account of the Irish Times in Jungceylon mentions that they are showing all the matches in English. Buy 2 get 1 free. Cheers!

<snip> Anyone know of better radar site , (IR particularly )than the Thai Meteorological site? I can't get past the Bangkok centered position screens and the south west map is covering the entire quarter of the globe, and appear to be un-zoomable. Google is such a crap search engine these days, all sponsored sites for crap... crap. Thanks SF
The Phuket airport radar is working fine http://www2.tmd.go.th/radar/pkt120.php
I also use weather channel http://www.weather.c...ailand THXX0018 it's' zoomable'
Not sure about the weather channel, but the MET radar out of the airport is not working fine. About 20% of Phuket is not being shown. Perhaps the Nakkerd Hills are getting in the way of the signal. The military radar above Patong is the highest around and should be the default radar.

Was looking forward to a BB's rueben sandwich for lunch. Travelling south on Sai Kor (Jungceylon back road) via Phrabaramee light. First of all, the lights were out and the cops were in their hut. So finally got through and the coppers wouldn't let you go straight at the next light (light before hospital light). I made a right and thougth I might go via Rat-u-Thit road. No way. Sai nam yen Road very deep. Made a U'y and came back home.

Had my Wave II fixed last month. Went to the shop that I purchased it in Central F. and was told it would be 3 weeks to sort. When I mentioned that she didn't have a clue to what the problem was, said it would be 2 weeks. Was told to go over to Phuket Town myself and drop it off. Great service!
Was not interested in driving to Phuket Town, so just told her to send it off and do the best that she could. Took 10 days.

BOT says 6%. Big difference.

Dying for a reuben. See when when you re-open. I've been meaning to stop by numerous times of the last few months, but always remember to stop after I pass your place. New op hours are good as I always forget if you are open or not when I pass.
-
Maybe a few staff handing out discount vouchers in the central area would get a few more punters in. Landlord (and other outlets) may not approve, but I have seen it now and then. 2 beers out of stock is a bad sign.

Try Irish Times @ Jungceylon.

Breakfast still good at Bamboo next to Pineapple Apartments.

Another suggestion is a company that I have used before, but forget the name. Go toward Phuket town from Central Festival and on the right side about 100m before the road forks is where it is. I'll get the name next time I drive past.
800.-Baht Surcharge For Bringing A Guest In Deevana Hotel?

Held our annual meeting at the Holiday Inn a few years back. A guard at the lift was stationed in the evening to stop any guests from bringing anyone up to their room. Understandable.
