  1. The more people through your door, the more people through your door.

Have a nice facility and they will be inclined to return some day, hopefully as a customer

Have a disgusting one and they will surely not be back.

Also true if you turn them away or give them a hard time.

    Up to you.

  2. If killing oneself is considered losing, saw a study where the suicide rates among expats were much higher than home countries.

now, if they counted all those falls from balconies, who knows if they were really suicides, eh?

then again, getting chucked off a balcony aint really an ending for a winner, er.

    >>> have encountered some real L expats and met some expats who are winners.

what I got out of Thailand? I definitely won! but won''t get too detailed ,

she turned 6 the other day

she wants to know if God is a woman and if all planets are hot in the middle, like earth,

she speaks English, French, some Thai and a bit of Spanish

her smile beats any full moon

Sounds like your priorities are in the right places.

  3. I had a guy put his car in neutral at a light, and then his car rolled back into mine despite the fact I honked to warn him. Then he came back to my car mad because I had hit him. But another driver straightened him out for me.

Who straightend out your car though?

It was an old car and wasn't noticeably damaged.

  4. It's a good shot, really says Thailand at night.

I think the reflection Cdnvic is talking about is actually smoke from the vendor booth that has a different look to it because of the long exposure.

The blurred person is also fine for me, it gives a little action to the scene.

I am very impressed at how well it turned out without a tripod.

    Good work

  5. This is the kind of thread where everyone will try to paint their own situation as being the best.

I was single for 37 years, now very happily married for 5. I remember making the most of my singleness, but I also remember wishing I wasn't single.

I am blessed because my marriage is good, but that is because I am determined to fulfill my part of the relationship and because I married someone with the same vision as me.

I believe a good marriage is the best thing, and a bad marriage is probably the worst; being single falls somewhere in the middle.

  6. Thaivisa is becoming more and more sensationalist and tabloid alike...<_<

I suppose it draws the audience they want ?

There is SO much more important news in the world but nothing of that on TV.

In Europe this "news" is put on page 7 with 3 sentences but it's HEADLINES on WORLD NEWS with Thaivisa.

    LaoPo

I am thinking if they changed it from World News, to Random News, these types of articles would make more sense.

  7. This is interesting because it show they are finally preparing to use a driver database. Which means things like the process of registering cars may improve from the circus that it is, and also may be the beginning of tracking driver records. Which may lead to habitual offenders learning a thing or two about driving to avoid more tickets or losing their license, or having to pay higher insurance.

this is of course theoretical. As it is very unusual to see tickets for moving violations other than driving in the right hand lane.

I am curious as to what kind of infractions these machines will be ticketing for.

  8. which of these 2 lenses is better for everyday use, canon 18-135 or 70 300,

Without question, if you could only have one of these two, you will want the 18-135.

You will find the 70-300 very frustrating if you want to photograph scenes or people groups.

  9. It sounds like we are not exactly talking about the same thing, but I have no doubt you get the physics part of this better than I.

But it is my understanding that the speed of the crank determines the speed of the wheels regardless of weight. If everything else remains consistent.

So a 250 kg bike that goes 100kmh at 7000 rpms in top gear, will also go 100kmh at 7000rpm even when 50 kg is added.

  10. Ok, did a little "experiment". Took the bike out and ran it up to 100kph. The tach was pegged at 7,000.

Came home, put 42kg wife on back, went out and took it to 100kph and the tach was still pegged at 7,000.

    No difference at all.

Engine revs are directly represented in the speed of the wheels turning, the variables are gears, sprockets, tire size and clutch slip.

What changes with weight is the top speed and time it takes to reach a given speed.

  11. Being bankrupt and being a third world country are not the same thing. In fact it seems you have to be a developed nation in order to rack up debt like that.

The term third world is no longer used by the way, but banana republic is a good way to describe Thailand as far as the way they get things done here.
