  1. Visa done, in my passport. Passport back with me now. Headache gone until next year. Took just under 2 weeks from going to the bank with them and giving them my passport and getting passport returned to me.

    Positives,

DONT need 800000 baht sitting in a thai bank depreciating in value. (I already bring in over 800000 baht every year from my pension/super)

DONT have to fill in multitudes of paperwork saying the same things. DONT have to go running to the bank paying them money to print out more pieces of paper or to give me some stupid letter saying I have xxxxbaht. DONT have to go sit in CW for another day and beat my head against a brick wall.

    Negatives. Cost me xxxxxbaht.

    Happy days ????

It is not really that hard to do. The most difficult part is getting your marriage certificate legalized in your home country or at your embassy if they can do it.

That's rather funny Joe. Mine was legalized in australia but thai consular services said it was out of date (ahhhh yeah, right).  You can't just walk in and get it certified. If I make an appointment today with australian embassy, the next available appointment is on 26 October. And then if and when that's done, you have to make an appointment with thai consular services for their legalization. I then have to go along to the local district registration office for a KOR22 (no idea). And then I can go back to CW. Yeah, it's not really that hard to do ????

    No

I think most people use a standard savings account.

The 800K has to be in the bank for 2 months on the day you apply and then for 3 months after that. Then after the 3 months you can lower it to 400k baht until you top up the account to 800 baht.

I've got both, I used to transfer the money to my savings account,so I could leave the 400000 plus alone. Remember, I was trying for an extension based on marriage to my thai wife. Now I know it's nearly mission impossible to get that extension if you were married overseas, this year I'll be bringing the 65000 in to the other account. Oh, thai visa guys claim they can get a marriage visa for hard to get cases, but it costs more, of course

  4. Don't take this the wrong way, but have you had experience with CW? I said I have transferred the 840000 in this year, x amount each month. Not 65000 regularly. But the total for the year is over 1300000. My thai wife was with me and we asked the lady supervisor "aren't you able to have the 800000 as money in bank for 12 months (over 400000) plus transfers in totalling over 800000." She wouldn't answer and deflected back to the 65000 each month regularly.

I was originally trying for marriage to the extension. What a nightmare that was. We were married in australia. CW wanted it legalized at thai consular services. Thai consular services wanted it notarized by Australian embassy and translated to thai. There was some mention about KOR 22 but by that stage my head was spinning so I dumped that idea.

Oh, here's another good CW story, my visa started 23 sept. I had 800000 in the bank and was allowed to take money out after 3 months but balance had to stay above 400K as I'm sure you know. On 23 Dec, I withdrew 30000. When I went to CW yesterday, they say I withdrew the money 2 days early (notice I said they, not just 1 person, a few of them). Wot????? I patiently explained (i call it logic) that my 12 month visa expires on 22nd, that means 12 months finishes on 22nd. So if 12 months finishes on 22nd, 3 months finishes on 22nd. Means I can withdraw on 23rd, which is what I did. After about 1 hour of waiting while high level discussions took place, they eventually agreed. My head was ready to explode and my thai wife was nearly in tears, lots of other visa staff came to tell her not to worry. Can you understand why I might be interested in using a visa agent for this extension. Next extension will be 65,000 monthly, or if this is as easy as i read, i might stick to an agent. CW can be a nightmare or it can be easy. I hear more nightmare stories than good ones.

  5. I have a non immigrant O retirement visa. It is due for 12 month extension. I have 560000 baht in bank account for over 1 year, never dropped below 400000. I have transferred over 840000 in also during the year, but CW aren't happy with this and want me to do a visa run and then after 1 month, change to non immi O and then after 3 months, apply for 12 month extension. Yeah, so easy. Ummmm im trying to extend it now. My local bank is uob. I asked thai visa centre and they said can assist, but I'd have to change my bank to one of the "usual ones" first. I asked thai visa guys and they said they can assist and I don't have to pay until the visa is in my passport. I'll keep you updated on progress

Yes, very plasticky, Johnno2, hence this update.

The GPX Razer is an affordable bike, and it looks cheap without a loving hand polish. But the part that makes it look the cheapest is the smooth plastic panel under the tank with the giant Razer decal. It reminds me of an Airfix model.

Anyway, I got a professional to take the old sticker off and replace it with some quality carbon fiber vinyl wrap. The photo here doesn't do it justice, but this minor modification on either side has made a huge difference. I might even get the front mudguard done.

Looks good. I don't think I've done 1000 klms yet. If I was really bothered, I'd get the whole bike wrapped but I'd still be left with a thing that's got big plastic panels all over it. 4,000 klms before an oil change? At this rate, I'd be changing the oil every 4 years ????

  7. I did a WISE transfer yesterday, still hasn't arrived in my UOB account. It was supposed to arrive at 10am today. Contacted WISE chat and was told it's been delayed (no reason given) but will be paid in a couple of hours. A couple of hours expired so I rang WISE call centre UK. lady says delay is because of this new regulation. I said woah, your email says it won't be affected. She says this limit has been in place for a week but not acted on by WISE until today. Marvelous.

I've been checking, INSTAREM and REMITELY and WU has this 50,000 baht limitation regardless of who you bank with in thailand.

KTM designed the GPX Razer, Papa Al. That's what the seller told me, who had about four of them up for sale.

It's a plastic monster, I've never seen so many plastic panels. I'm happy with mine, good suspension to soak up the potholes and speed bumps. I hired a yamaha aerox for 1 month before buying the razer. 1 month on a midsized scooter was enough for me. Those little wheels don't like potholes and speed bumps

  9. Time to make the monthly  WISE transfer. Went to the app and set it up, was advised it would be a "next day" transfer, 6 Jan. I can live with that. Went to my oz bank webpage and transferred the money to WISE as normal. Go back to the WISE app and notify them the money has been transferred and then the payment date changes to a 2 day transfer, I can't live with that. I ring the call centre, "oh yes, that first notification is just an estimate." Ummm no, that used to be the time the transfer will be completed by. I have had many previous transfers that were completed in seconds. I bank locally with UOB. Have for years without previous problems. Don't know if they are now the problem, I would appreciate hearing if anyone is having similar WISE transaction time problems.

Nice one. Mine has just clocked up 9,000km. I've noticed the gears and riding seem to have gotten smoother of late. It's probably one of those bikes that needs a bloody good running in before it finally settles down. I still think it's the best value little-big-bike around at the moment.

I only use mine to go to the shopping centre and local golf driving range. I think it's got about 600 klms on it now. I didn't receive any gpx service or operating manual, but the greenbook says it was first registered in Dec 2020 so I might take it to the local service centre and get it's 12 month service done and see if I can get duplicate service manual for it. I'm happy with it

I have been using transferwise (wise) for years. I never had a problem until my transfer I sent yesterday from my Australian bank to my thai UOB account. It's been over 2 days now and I'm no closer to getting my money. Today, transferwise is saying a transfer sent today won't be paid out until 7 dec

Update, finally got my money just now, transfer took over 2 days. I emailed, used their chat facility, rang "australia WISE", (I think it's just a call centre) and their UK call centre. Just for a laugh, I went back to the WISE app and set up another transfer and the transfer time was "in seconds". The transfer I set up on Wednesday said 6 hours which changed to 18 hours after I funded it. Something very weird is going on with WISE

And my transfer started yesterday morning at 06.30, arrived as an FTT in my Bangkok Bank at 14.02 as usual.

I would suggest there is something wrong on your bank or Wise account.

I found one for sale that's done 380klms, yes, that's less than 400klms, thinking thinking

Bought it, it's a good city bike. Put a carry rack (800 baht) and 26L top box (390baht) and its perfect now. No problem with starter, sounds ok. Gearbox a bit stiff but should settle in ok. Easy to get neutral from 2nd gear. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear a bit low geared, might see if I can get a smaller rear sprocket at the gpx dealer. Suspension is fine for my many potholes and speedbumps local soi.

Yes, I still got it, Johnno2.

It took a bit of getting used to, unlike Japanese bikes that fit new riders like a well-tailored glove. But to be honest, it has to be the best value for money bike I've ever owned. I especially love the high riding position. Cheap service, low cost parts, and so far, super-reliable. I'd like something 600cc or above next time, but I'm so impressed with the Razer that I'll probably keep it even if I do get a bigger bike. There are a few things I don't like about it, but they're so minor, it's not worth the gripe considering the price ????

When I arrived back last week it was fast track anyway. The airport was dead, through immigration in record time of 5 mins. About 4 people queuing in every booth and not a Chinese in sight.

same for me 3 weeks ago. i was in the chinese passport line as no one else was in it. officials were processing other nationalities through them
