  1. Suthep must think : Me too. If Newin is a target, I want to be a target. Politicians need exposure, they love making up plots.

And if the plot does not seem what you expected of it, you simply charge people under the computer crime law or under lese majesty laws.

We do not know who is doing the bombings, we do not know who is plotting to assassinate who, but what we know is that Thailand has dropped to an all time low on the lists of failed states, on the list of press freedom and that Thailand has more political prisoners than Burma has. Blocking websites highlighting those issues would not make that go away.

Given the fact that Thai people love their freedom and are not easily impressed by draconian measures suppressing them we might indeed be in for a very hot 2011. If the country explodes again during Songkran 2011. Suthep and Abhisit will say. Hey we have to work on reconciliation, so we just kill a few hundred people in the streets, postpone the upcoming elections and in 2012 Songkran we do it ll over again.

I never have seen a less sincere bunch of crooks than this government. Even after earlier uprisings the army generals seems to have a higher level of social intelligence than that is the case today.

  2. What a dirt story. If someone publishes this kind of rubbish, they should be so kind to ask a comment from the hotel. Not one person in the world is as stupid as the writer of this piece of junk assumes they are. Not one Thai Hotel operator will tell that it is hotel policy to discriminate against blacks and Indians. The story is outright stupid. <div><br></div><div>If I was the manager I would sue the editor for publishing this rubbish. It looks far more like a disgruntled fan or the rapper himself has put up a story  to explain why he was thrown out of the hotel. it is far more likely that these kind of people distur other guests, use drugs, too much alcohol, treat each and every lady like a hooker and so on. Good luck to the hotel. I would have kicked the rapper out myself as it was only for the rude story lines that these people use.</div>

  3. It is most probably the exception to the rule. If you read between the lines it is about Hollywood blockbusters. The ambassador in question who obviously never travelled through Europe or Latin and Middle America, Asia came outside his country (porn is for sale in the open everywhere) needed child porn to make his point. Have I seen porn on the streets of Bangkok? All the time, the worst form of porn is seen all over TV everyday when you look at the government, it is pure bestiality, but I have never seen child porn on Bangkok Streets. We do not need an ambassador to outrage people of Thailand if that was the case. It is fairly easy to arrest the people selling it. But in the numbers of the post, mentions are made of the numbers of stalls selling Hollywood movies and Porn no figures about this subject what makes it highly unlikely.

Thai authorities are with right very sensitive about this subject and it is not likely that Thai authorities would allow this to happen.

  4. The only thing Newin wants is to burry the wrong doing of murderous generals his own roll in applying fighters in black on the streets that caused the uproar during the Pattaya Summit and he wants hos political ban overturned. Their cannot be any reconciliation when protest leaders are accused of terrorism while the yellow shirts receiving bonuses from the military for raping democracy. The Nation should know better but they do not want to know better. They are themselves to blame for numerous innocent victims. Their directors brought yellow flowers to democracy rapists.

  5. No spurprise here. The government says one thing in public and one thing against their cronies. O course this government does want to keep Thailand in the dark ages. 10 years of 3G in Cambodia have shown that the opposition can distribute information much faster, that it is much more difficult to listen in on telephone conversations than on GSM. Abhisit and his boss Suthep are today particularly happy that a criminal coup taker that distributed 2 Billion baht amongst their friends has goven the courts all the powers that ought to belong to the people. If the government would not have wanted this to happen they would have controlled their own employees unless it is incompetent and impotent.

  6. Besides the question if it makes sense for a company of PTT to buy a retailer, government interference in a public traded company points out why nobody should ever invest one baht in a (former) state owned company. Thai airways is financially raped by politicians and rich people and forced to sent airplanes changes routes and let charlatans fly. The PTT is forced to keep petrol prizes low for political reasons, the TOT and CAT are told by the Democrat party to oppose 3G and so on. The lesson: Stay away from Thai stock markets. Thai politicians who can not let a time run on time think they are the smartest businessmen on earth.

  7. People with mental disabilities are always exploited. Some become sex workers, some become drug traffickers and others are asked by elitist groups to do as if they lead a country. The article here though is not that relevant. It is not about the exploited it is about the people who exploit them. The question is are less Swedes now coming to Thailand to sleep with girls or are the Swedes also exploiting women in Thailand. Quite frankly there is not much of a difference if girls are used to have sew with in Sweden or if Swedes go to Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, or Africa.

  8. Wrong header. The header could have read WE, AT THE NATION, are ALL to blame. It is absurd to blame voters and political parties that adhered to democratic principles. It is very simple. Only the coup takers and the people who brought them flowers are to blame. Simply because they do not understand democracy. If they lose an election the voters who voted their opponent are uneducated and stupid, while in fact the elite is plane stupid. Add to the mix the corrupt military that increased their budget a three fold since the coup, at this current government who would never have been in power because they lack a mandate. Sweet would be the day that Anupong, Sonthi and their friends are standing up in a court international or local to tell why they raped democracy and shot people in the street. But a military that shoot people in the street have uneducated generals who think that we the voters are so stupid to believe that you buy a scanner worth 3,000 baht for 30,000 pound Sterling in whihc you throw a piece of plastic to detect bombs, drugs and rock and roll will always believe that they are smarter and better than we the people. They will have no trouble rigging election after election and appointing one crooked court official after another. Thailand has indeed no double standards They have no standards.

  9. What the govenrment wants us to know is the following: We shoot people in the street and we do not care a bit. We own the judiciary and we are not interested in press freedom or in your opinion. Boters are stupid and should therefore shut up. Let the country be ruled by the people of CAT and by NEwin and friends.

The real facts are that it only turns violent because of the army and becuase of teh way Suthep and Newin are handling criticism. Nepotism must stay after all. It is good for the elite.

  10. Thai politics is motion. Chuan is still pissed off that King Maker Sanoh brought Chavalit in power and was and still is smarter than the crooked Sanan his parties king maker. Nothing happened for 6 years till Chuan and Suthep were back and see they are picking their fight again. In the meantime they show utterly disregard for all those of hundreds of people who bought a house (and not just big houses) on the complex they will stand to lose their home without compensation. Luckily the DP will soon no longer exist. Suthep/Chuan are picking fights with the wrong people. Sooner or later they will be corrected in a nasty way.

  11. This kind of reporting is childish. Of course the Dutch property developer is accused. This would have happened by anyone in Pattaya who was making money and became to influential. This is Thailand a country where the rich can invest anywhere in the world and can own as much property as they want but as soon as a foreigner comes in he is not even allowed to buy a house. He could steal the land and bring Pattaya to the Netherlands or the USA. Any big businessman in Thailand is dirty, it is far more conceivable that it is a set up. After all greed is embedded in the countries education. Instead of asking if everything is fine, they would ask in Thailand how much money you make. Problem for the crooked developer is that he has no Thai passport and thus can not become Prime Minister. That is want normally happens in Thailand.

  12. Sondhi must be proud. As a couptaker he took care of the fact that the courts act like a elected government. In Thailand the vested interests of bureaucrats are always above that of the development of the country. Where Cambodia celebrated 10 years of 3G, Thailand is not even ready to distribute the frequencies. I always wonder why directors of CAT and TOT will not be replaced immediately. Just give them a uniform and make them doorman they may keep their salaries. In a matter of fact it us a big SOM NAM NAA for the country. This is what you get when a few elitists are running the country and the voters are held for stupid, while it is really the other way around. The board of CAT and TOT should be deeply ashamed just as their unions. 60% of their employees are doing nothing on the back of DTAC and AIS.Moreover the courts have judges who have a brain content of a pack of instant coffee. Any judge could have understood that CAT has CDMA which is in competition with 3G.Don't be surprised when the judge will appear on the payroll as a director of a state company soon. If I am not mistaken the Tobacco Authority need a few new people.

  13. I always wonder why they love to show of donated old cd's and watches that are destroyed. The lobby of the IFPI and Software alliances as well other luxury goods makers seem to be paying off somewhat. But what about the real counterfeiters that damage the health of society. I seldom see news items in which the authorities have raided a baby milk factory, a medicine factory or another factory copying essential items. It could be of course that Thai crime fighters think that these things happen only in China. Well most Chinese businessmen are nowadays in the Thai government so the counterfeiters are having a boon.

  14. The Nation is always there to explain why nepotism and corruption is happening and why it is more or less okay. An income of 43,000 Bht a month is a huge income in comparison to all those millions of hard working Thai people in Izan and the North who feed those corrupted court, police and state officials. They work often for 10% or less of the monthly amount mentioned. The fact is that the Nation never misses an opportunity to lambast protestors looking for a better life while having a good word for civil servants on the take. I understand that in a police state you need millions of civil servants to spy or to report otherwise on the Thai voters who despise the ruling class. The problem is easily solved. By sending home 50% of the police force, 75% of all generals (Thailand is comparable with Napoleon's army to many officers no soldiers to do the fighting), by sending home 30% of the people in state enterprises the good people can be rewarded accordingly without letting the rice farmer pay the bill of bleeding a factory worker dry. instead of feeling sorry for the pay of civil servants the editor should change his leather designer shoes paid for by his family's fortune and switch them for sandals to look in the rice paddies how life is over there. Suddenly it is incredibly clear to me who are the real uneducated people here. It is the elite who always feel sorry for their friends on the take.

  15. I am not sure what to make of this. Did he force her, or did he not pay money enough to the mother? Awful enough there are hundreds of 13, 14 year old prostituting themselves in the Thai Karaoke bars. I is very clear that the Pattaya police is working with double standards. Rightfully acting against foreign men violating children while leaving all Thai establishments alone. (The police needs to eat too). But I would be very carefully by believing a story at first sight that the girl were "forced" I do not see how somebody who is forced can be dragged into a condominium without being noticed by tenants and staff. Unfortunately very much is okay in Thailand when enough money is paid to the parents.

  16. maybe the elitist columnist and the "Nation" are really out of touch with reality. By now every child older than 4 years can tell that Sothi is right. It was first of all a criminal act to dispose of an democratic elected government. And yes the failure of continuing the Thaksin economic policies have led to fare more problems. Sonthi must have noticed that jokers who are far more corrupt and self serving than Thaksin has ever been (and all politicians including thaksin are corrupt and self serving in this part of the world) are bringing the country to the brink of collapse. Suthep is power horny and is at odds with so may of his fellow citiznes in his home province for blocking off the sea side and dividing the riches between his family and that of the CP family while the poor are suffering. abhisit does not even know that rice grows in mud. He thinks it is made in a factory. Newin and his father are only busy filling up their pockets and ruining the last remaining nature. Banharn has build a construction imperium on government orders and sanan is not only suspected of dishonoring a female journalist but also for running llegal betting scams on race tracks, for buying overpriced medicines and so on. The list goes on and on. <div><br></div><div>the Nation does not seem to realize that the voter is ALWAYS right. You cannot rob them from their votes without a backlash. The country is doing far worse than under Thaksin. Who is out of touch? A coup taker who admits a mistake or a rich spoiled Nation columnist who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth?</div>

  17. Those Chinese embezzlers seem to know their trade very well. They are not so smart though in getting away with the loot or staying out of the hands of the police. Businessmen do get passports and visas. If they would flee to europe they will be surely receiving a relatively low jail sentence but they will never be send back to China because they risk being executed. So I am wondering why all those idiots are taking the risk to stay in a China friendly country with the guillotine hanging above their heads.
