  1. Same in Pattaya. Now they make you report your address first (even if just on visa exempt) instead of just issuing the thing with your proof of address. I had to come back the next day to get my certificate (and queue again). Pretty pointless exercise as a hotel business card, a handwritten bill and your phone number is not really proof of anything. Plus, I could just change the hotel the next day ...and the hotel should report my stay in the first place anyway. Waste of resources.

Have you done a risk assessment?

    How old are you?

Have you ridden for distances in the past?

    What is your experience.

Your question cannot be answered with the information you’ve given.

Majority of accidents happen due to people’s incompetence.

What is your skillset, I think very low as outlined in your question.

Put the bike in a postal truck or one of the buses.

    Safe travels.

<deleted> he is riding a bike for 300 ks. It's not rocket science. Watch your back, stay as far left as possible and you'll be alright. The main issue will be sitting uncomfortable after a few hours. He won't have an issue with brakes overheating as Waves are manual. I wouldn't choose it as a leisure trip but is is definitely doable.

Post the bike for 300 kms? You serious?

  3. Anything over 100-150 kms a day on a scooter is just a pain in the ass (literally). If you split it up and rest for 1 or 2 nights you'll be okay. Be aware that this road is quite busy. Not sure if you will enjoy it that much. I'd rather take some back roads.

Water in Sattahip will most likely be significantly cleaner than at Koh Sichang [in front of Laem Chabang].

The water on the Koh Sichang beach is crystal clear. The only beach is on the Eastern side, the crap from Laem Chabang doesn't really come there. Lots of large ships passing by though.

  5. So did you just chuck the motorbike in the jungle or did you leave it somewhere for people to see?

they have a DL in the name of... you. But how many people in the world have that name? I doubt that the name alone would get you arrested.... imagine if dick Smith did this... would every dick Smith get pulled up at immigrations?

If the owner paid a few ฿฿฿ they could have scanned the immigration database of tourists in the country during this time and match the name, DOB, country and photo of your licence with your entry and your passport number in the immigration database.

Personally, I think you'll be fine. Stolen bikes (or 'bikes not returned') are seen as running costs by many rental shops. They make a fortune on the bikes anyway, making their money back on the purchase price in less than one year. One English guy on Samui told me that he 'already lost 6 bikes in the past few months'. Apparently, this is a pastime mostly favoured by Thais. Bikes usually don't come back so I doubt the shop would go through the hassle of informing the police who do <deleted> all anyway.

So don't think too much and just call the shop.
