Reading comprehension skills on this thread seem to be lacking in many posts. He ALREADY has an account with the very bank she is insisting he open a new one.
Yes, but could be branch specific as my company does in BKK. In some other countries branch specific doesn’t matter, but it does or certainly did do back when we did ours. -

Yep, pretty normal. My company is based in BKK and they opened a K-bank account for me 15 years ago when I started with them. Same for all employees. As stated above it’s easier and cheaper for them to manage payments.
If in doubt, just insist on having a bank book and also open the online banking access. Don’t have any ATM/debit/credit cards etc. Make transfers online to your current account when needed. This is how I manage mine, so I know that nobody can physically withdraw from this account without me being present.- 3

It is still only one year after 5. Not three.
I’ve renewed my 5 year license 3 times after expiry, therefore I’ve had an extra 3 years of validity. 18 years as opposed to 15 years. I’m on about the total time of validity.

Thanks. 5 years, 6 years, who cares.
When you’ve had 3 x 5 year licenses then yes, the extra 3 years validity on top is pretty handy. If you’re just doing it the once then suppose it’s alright, but some people hate going to that place, so any extra time is a bonus. -
How many days before 5 year lic expires can I renew. Only those who are sure reply please.
You can apply up to 6 months before expiry of current 5 year license, however, it’s better to wait until it’s just expired as you will get almost one extra year of validity.

On the whole I found iflix content pretty poor compared to Netflix, so I stopped using it. Also, Netflix viewing quality is much better if using via the app on a tablet/iPad etc.

But I want Thai subtitles. So there really is no point in the US catalog for me. I am considering subscribing but want to know if it is worth it in Thailand. Are new movies and series being added, in particular new UK series such as Derek, and other comedies with Thai subtitles?
I've tried kodi and it is too much faffing around for very old series and a serious lack of up to date content with subtitles from opensubtitles.org.
What are the alternatives to Netflix, noting that I want THAI SUBTITLES, or is Netflix the way to go?
I think it’s great plus you can trial it free for one month to see if you are happy with it. Plenty of UK stuff on there, including Derek.- 2

Thanks again. How long will it take from online application to interview. Also when the online is submitted I can see it can be amended. At what point does this stop. Can it be changed right up to the interview or does it stop once the date is given.
You can correct a mistake in pen after you have submitted the form. My Mrs made a mistake on one of her forms about 3 years ago, after we’d already submitted and printed it out. We made the correction in pen and then my Mrs undersigned it, no problems.
When you submit the online form, this is when you select the date for your application documents to be submitted at the centre. We normally allow ourselves 10 days for this so we can get together our updated utility bills, bank statements, supporting letters etc. -
She works in a restaurant/bar but is paid cash in hand. We have lived in the same house for 10 years but no rent book or contract so how to prove to the embassy.
Use utility bills or any correspondence to both of you to show where you live - make sure they are recent at the time of application.
Get a letter from her boss with their contact details included or something along those lines. -

Follow the link as it’s all done online nowadays and you’ll have to create an account. Fairly straight forward after the first time but be prepared for the usual paperwork.
The most important details are your supporting evidence proving your relationship.
You will also submit all documentation at Trendy building in Bangkok. You can take your time with the online application form and you are able to save it and come back to it to make sure everything is correct.

I take it this is specific to a WP as many people won't have one?
Yes, only if you’re renewing with WP

Renewed 5 year last Friday. Arrived at 0830 and completed before 1130.
Get there before 0830 otherwise you risk not completing before 1130 and being sent away until after lunch.
If you are using a Work Permit as part of renewal make sure you copy pages 1-7 for each license. Also, the change of address page if your company has changed address since the last renewal.
Make sure you know your Tax ID number (13 digits), as they may ask you to write it down next to your phone number on the application sheet that the girl fills in at desk #11 upstairs.

Anyone else having issues with the 'continue watching' not updating and the activity log not updating? The past 2-3 days my IOS app hasn't updated the content that I've been watching.
I called Netflix direct from the app help section and a British guy answered and said they would record the issue.
Not a big deal unless you watch loads of different shows at the same time and forget where you are up to.
I did check online and there seems to be others with the same issue.

That's interesting as I've never had to submit photos for a Work Permit. Anyway, it still has nothing to do with the fact that the Immigration Officer did not originally request it and then the suddenly asked for it when I went back with all the other documents (that weren't on the requirements, but she asked me to go get...which I did) to apply for my extension.
Only for the past two years have I had to submit a photo for WP renewal. This is a photo from the waist upwards. We were led to believe that this was more of a recent security issue as we never had to do this previously. -
I pay via my Apple ID, direct debit from Bangkok Bank $279 per month

Hi, I want to get a long validity visa for my wife because applying every time we want to visit the UK is a pain in the ass. Is this a valid reason?
A little background about our application: I have lived and worked here for 15 years. We have a 11 year old who has a British/Thai passport. In the last 4 years we have applied for and been granted 2, 6 month general visit visas.
Any ideas about this would be appreciated.
I'm in a very similar situation to you. I've worked for a Thai company for over fifteen years and we visit UK every year and go through the same process for the 6 month visitors visa every year. We both work and have no reason not to return to Thailand after a four week annual visit. Also, it would be handy in case we did need to go for any other reasons outside of the annual visits.
The only thing that puts me off is the fact that they will keep the full fee and offer you a visa with less time if they deem it not suitable. If they refunded the difference then I would go for a five year option.
We've just done another application two weeks ago and you are right, it is a pain, especially as last year they didn't return any of the document copies that we resubmit every year. -

2 hours ago, stevenl said:So you're on extension, not on multi-B. So 90 days required, which are not required for people on multi-B.
Yes, but in my earlier post I was referring to the fact that no matter what visa (in this case multi-B ) you are on or extension, you cannot stay in Thailand for more than 90 days without 90 day reporting or leaving the country.

As the OP hasn't posted for a while we need to talk about something.
For me the end result is it's quite possible that Imm' just might be looking closely at SETV/METV entries to ensure that those using them are in fact going to be here on holiday.
The first couple of times we went to UK my wife was asked a couple of questions in a nice way and answered in an equally nice way.
She's had three UK visas and each one has been used for a couple of weeks. If she had stayed for 6 months almost back to back on each one then I'm sure it wouldn't be 'welcome back' have a nice holiday. It would be, can you follow me we need to have a talk with a Supervisor.
Why should Thailand be any different?
I agree. My Mrs has had multiple UK visitor visas and only stayed for 4 week holidays each time. They usually ask a few questions on arrival at UK but not every time.
The fact is Thailand has changed. I remember in the 90's guys living in Thailand on visa exempts. Their passports would be kept at the local 'travel agency' and automatically sent on visa runs for the next stamp!

And are you on multi B or extension of stay?

Yes, multi-B for first year and extension for past 14 years.
Thread side tracked a little here! -
^ Email sent to our employees a few years ago to remind all foreign employees not to forget their 90 day reporting:
'Dear All,
Since the new regulations established of 90 days has been released from the Immigration Department which is effective immediately.. Please be informed that any expats who fail to renew your 90 days, these will be a penalty fee of THB 1,000.- for all cases..
Please learn the regulations carefully:
TO NOTIFY STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS
The Expats permitted to stay longer in the Kingdom MUST notify your location of stay at the Immigration Offices every 90 days counted from your latest entrance into Thailand or from your current 90 days slip attached into your passport.. Best way to avoid the penalty fee is to inform us your ETA & ETD Thailand - in order for us to keep track of 90 days for you otherwise you will be fined THB 1,000.- when it expired..
Thank you for your best attention to this information in advance.. If you have any questions regarding this subject, please feel free to contact our teams for further assistance..'- 1

I had a work permit back then.
As I said no-one told me about 90 day reports, so I used to just pop over to see my Sister in Singapore whenever I felt like it. Sometimes once a month, sometimes every few months. Was great having a multi entry visa.
So what visa do you have to do reports on?
You certainly do have to report on a multi-b if you are in Thailand for over 90 days continuous. I know as I've been on a non B/Work permit for 15 years. If I am not on a trip overseas and know I'll be in Thailand for 90 days or more then my company take my passport and do my 90 day report for me, if not they get fined.

I was coming in on a 30 day visa on arrivals, BUT when they pulled me to their station an pulled up a history of my stay in Thailand, they saw that I had been living here on back to back tourist visa's for years. They then asked me to show them money, which I did ($1,500), then asked if I was working in Thailand, to which I was not. I showed them my bank statements from home where I pull money out every month and it still wasn't good enough for them.
They called me a liar and said that I was trying to trick them and ended up denying me entry into Thailand. They told me that if I would need at least a Non-immigrant B visa if I wanted to come back soon and not a tourist visa. I was locked up at the airport jail for 2-3 days trying to get a flight back to America. Lots of airlines just didn't want to deal with a deportee. It was a mess.
When you talk about '30 day tourist visa' are you referring to 30 day visa exempt as this is not really the same thing. If you continually enter on 30 day visa exempts then you have a higher chance of being pulled.- 1

If you wanna do the long term tourist thing and you have the cash, then just get the TE visa until you reach retirement age. Then at retirement age you can reassess which is the best visa for you.

It’s certainly a nice error to have, but just make sure that the Thai date is also in 10 years....I’m sure it will be.
