  1. they allowed you to keep both passports and use both? Thats not what has happened to me in this case. Im from Germany too btw. They cut the edges of the other passport so only one at time can be active. And so far thats what i thought is normal since the women inside told me in Germany one can only have one passport. Though they gave me the old one and said i should carry this with me when going to Thailand. There was no retirement visa involved though.

The majority of foreign teachers are here to teach English and the biggest failure is in the standards of teaching English because there are no standards. An American teacher will teach the American grammer and the American spelling which is incorrect while the Australian teacher will do the same and so will the UK teacher. Australian teachers use the same spelling as the UK which is the true English spelling. There needs to be one set of standards to teach English by and that should be by the original English language and spelling as is used in the UK. Even on a computer the English language that is used is the American English language with the American spelling which is not the true English language, it is a modified language and spelling and unless the true English language and spelling is set as the standard it causes confusion amongst the children because one child goes to a different school to there friend and is taught by a different teacher who teaches a different English. This is not good education.

Note: be sure to read the PS

Maybe this breaks your dream now about English language but the fact is (doesnt matter who you ask in various countries) that this "real" English you talk about is the one that noone understands outside of UK. Opposite to American "English". Ive been in soooo many situations everywhere, in Thailand, in my home-country Germany and whatever place there may be where UK people roam, if someone starts his Oxford dialect or even better Scottish or Irish, wich sounds identically to the Hardcore UK for us outsiders, the opposed conversation-partner starts to stare in awe because he really didnt understand a single word, even he thought he can speak English until this moment. Happens to myself too always, i simply cannot understand it even i understand every foreigner/non-UK person who speaks English fluid in the way most Americans do, or the rest of the world. Many countries ppl have a lot of problems to understand that "real" English you talk about. So im not sure how much it helps if you teach a language that only UK people understand. Maybe not so bad to teach it in a way that the whole world really understands?

PS: what i said here is in no way against UK people or other mentioned persons/dialects. These dialects are in every country where other groups have problems with it. In Germany that may be dialects like "Sächsisch" etcetc, Germany know what i mean. So please please, noone take this serious and personal. Sadly "real" English sounds for a typical German like the German "Sächsisch" for a non-dialect speaking German, im very sorry to say that.

  3. I rather think the 18-40 is the preset value when registering and they just not understand to change it :-)

Kidding... But in fact I had this problem many many times in a company I worked for (I'm webdeveloper and create this forms a lot). Many customers complained about things related to date but failed to understand that they have to enter a real birthdate to make it work...

Doubtful that it's the case here of course hehe. On the other hand, there are for sure some women who think like "men men, where are the men. Just let me register."

And what about all these French speaking African tossers around Lower Sukhumvit, who hang around all day and all night, saying "how are you?" to selected random foreigners, obviously up to no good, and what's more blocking me from getting home fast with my shopping in the bloody pouring rain.

    Eh, answer me that!

Very easy answer. They pay more.

It's a completely different group anyway. Mostly Nigerian ppl. With connections to Pakistan. And to lumpini police

If they done it to Chiang Mai then they can do the same in Pattaya, Bangkok and anywhere else in the country.

This time I really do believe they mean business, this is the beginning of the end for the bars in Pattaya.

    Lets hope it.

alcohol doesn't make people run around naked and end up crazy

    Are you for real?

you guys..... so funny sometimes. Knowing nothing but try to be part of the conversation.

Both coments are basically just some thrown sentances without having the littlest amount possible to say about it.

To the first one, in the article they talk about Ice. And the guy talked about Mariuhana. If you think the 2 things have even a little to do with each other, think again or do a little info first. Noone will be ever running around from something, doing crazy things from  Mariuhana alone. Noone, if the person not has anything like a sickness before already, like epileptic stuff. And then they dont run around because they are so drunk, they do it for other reasons, same as if they have the epileptic seizure.

There are 2 other possibilities basically, where one can suffert from Mariuhana. One is if start smoking too young. Then the brain may or may not be affected by the consume. Noone can say for sure, even after years of watching it. The other is if one smokes so much that he put Mariuhana to his number one thing in his life. Then he may get unhappy if he cannot get it, or may unable to sleep. Such things. Or he may let important things slip and go on a downhill way somewhat. Maybe he will sit alone in his room without friends after 2 decades. Its stuff like this that Mariuhana does, and then only if too much or too early or mixed with Alcohol (again, Alcohol...)

A normal healthy person would have to smoke amounts that are not possible, to get any symtoms that are bad for health or visible for outsiders. Maybe someone has a bit red eays. Its stuff like this.

NOOONE can be so drunk from smoking Mariuhana that he doesnt know what he does if there are not some very wiered things come together. Like Very first consume, small body, other illnesses or mix with other things. NEVER alone on a normal healthy person that is not a child or whatever. Probably you guys dont know that a very big part of the world smokes without telling you guys, right? Because they know how stupid ppl can be. But be sure, if you want to put everyone away who somkes Mariuhana, the world will be empty and only a handful ppl like you are left, sitting there with the beer or whiskey in the hand and drink lol.

To the second .... this tops the first one by far tbh.

Noone on this earth will be able to make drunk from smoking like you can be drunk from Alcohol. Its not possible ok? Why people talk if they dont know anything about it?

If you never saw drunk people that do crazy things, ok,  good for you, probably you live your life in your living room. But everywhere else, especially in Thailand, are drunk people that do crazy things.

I have many people as collegues, friends or whatever, they smokle since decades without having anything. They have a job, they have a life, they have eveything. But i also know 3 Person from my friends that are alcoholic. And guess what.,... They have far bigger problems as a smoker can ever have.

And please...... understand what is Mariuhana. And finally start to make differences. Not sure why Alcohol is ok for everyone if its the badest drug on the whole world.

  7. I dont know whats happened to this place... of course dozens other countries arent better or worse, no question. But what i experience the last years here in Thailand make me very very much overthink my whole "idea of Thailand" i had for the last 25 years...

I lived for the dream basically to live my life in Thailand, had luck and enjoyed it so much for many years, working and living in Bkk. But for some reason, the last 2 years i more and more see me overthinking this. The smile here is an illusion in some many regards im not able to put it into words.

Also, what happened to me (nearly got killed for an ipad, 45 stiches to be done alone on my head, 7 ppl hit on it with iron bars, on my home from work), to others, what i read on a daily basis, what i experience, i dont know....

Thai people can be very very nice. But some people here seem to be very far from what i call human and this makes it more and more difficult for me to see paradise in this place...

where were his credit cards  ?

this smells fishy ....  he was 60 and a non smoker ??  something not correct here

So nowadays only smoker die in the age of 60? That would be nice but sadly its not true. There are millions of deaths per year of ppl nt smoking and not drinking....And doing sports the whole life.

I thought this is known by now.

Sorry to sound a bit negative but sometimes one could think on THaivisa ppl dont know about "natural deaths" anymore. Everything and everyone is suspicious.

  9. Some people make me be ashamed to be a "farang", really. Thats why i go far away from them in Bangkok usually. SOme of you guys are just arrogant, ignorant, selfish and whatever. You expect all people working in a Restaurant speaking english? Why english? Why not french, german or Japanese? They have at least as many people from that countries. Ahh i forgot... you expect everyone, also the other people from other countries to speak english... I bet most of the ppl complaining dont speak more than one language. And even more live in Thailand without to ever think about maybe learn some words THai to not run into this situations?

I live here no soon 5 or 6 years together and for some reason never run into problems in a restaurant. WHy may that be? Because i took the time to inform myself of the country and the language of the place i choose to live in.

    Its a shame....

  10. I never had bad situations beeing Senior Production Manager for a nowadays well known fashion online-shop. People always treatet me with respect (as i did too) and it was more a friendly, family like atmosphere. But when given instructions they still did it without any delay or whatever. Im german, so what one cals a farnag. Not sure how they treat Malay people.

I think it depens a lot on yourself. ANd the company you work for. If you manage construction workers it will probably a different as when you manage a team of programmers.

  11. To A mod: I asked this in the border run alternatives quest but I'm afraid it doesn't get attention there so I ask again here.

Sorry if this has been answered but I went through the last pages and didn't find the answer.

How is the situation actually with border runs? Im German, arrived on a 60 day tourist visa and extended it for 30 days. Can I make a visa exempt entry at Poi Pet or Aranjapratheet at the moment with this (short) history? Thanks for answers.

To the typical flamer who thinks everyone who do this is a bad person, yes I will stay here with the right visa, soon. I will marry soon here and wait for a document needed by German embassy that my parents send by post. It has not arrived yet so I want to get 30 days more

  12. To a mod: please.move this to an own topic if its the wrong place here.

  13. Urge foreigners to NEVER buy or eat so called "street food" in Bangkok. Its poison ! As well as encouraging more congestion on sidewalk,or,it appears on the actual road now!

Sorry but that's really a very crazy thing to say... I eat from them now more than 8 years, many times on a daily basis. I never, not once, had problems with my stomach or anything related to bad food.

And no, it's not because my stomach is so robust.

  14. I am a victim.

A group of young Thais (around 18 to 22 I guess) wanted to have my new iPad. First it was only one motorbike with 2 ppl on it. I walked in Suk soi 50 to go to 7-11 as they approaching me on motorbike and asking to get my iPad.

I just walked further and didn't give them of course. They stopped and got of the bike starting a fight. I fought back and they got scared and.went away on motorbike.

I thought I'm lucky and went to 7-11. Already forgot about the incident and walked home. Suddenly I heard something from behind and looked back. Then it made boom and they hit me with an iron bar to head. Seems they were hiding in the bushes.

Same.minute 3 other motorbikes came and I was surrounded by 6 Thais. All with iron bars. They hit on me like crazy, shouting like wild animals. After getting 4 or 5 hits to the head blood spread all over my head but that didn't make them stop. They just got more angry and hit me everywhere.

I threw the iPad to the ground and all 6 stormed to it and fled on their bikes.

This attack was.filmed by 4 CCTV and my manager from apartment helped me go to police with it.

Guess what was the outcome? Nothing. Even they had the numbers of at least 2 bikes, nothing happened to them. At least I think so because police never contactede again after.

I went to hospital with last powers I had, there I got 45 stitches to my head and 2 broken fingers were treated.

    That's my story...

  15. One has to go through immigration in the other country, as people said already. One cannot stay in transit and tae the next plane. Thai immigration wants a stamp from the country one comes from.

That beeing said, i usually did this "border-flight" with 2 seperate airlines via KL. Fly there with Thailionair and fly back with Air Asia. But its really tricky, you have not much time. If the arriving plane is late then you could get problems.

Last time i did this (in January this year) i had around 1 hour to checkout, check back in and all that. But there was so many people on the counter that i had to ask if they let me checkin before them. Otherwise i would have missed the plane.

So, its possible but you have to take seperate airlines probably.

  16. I never had a problem telling the officers that im looking for a job... on visa exempt. I wonder how someone would get a B Visa for jobhunting...

Last time i got questioned why im here so long without visa i told him that i couldnt find a job yet and im looking for more opportunities. Also i get married soon. He asked me then what job i want and i just said im Webdeveloper (what is true) and he said something like "Oh, nice. Good luck".

Something like this happened not only once to me.

  17. You don't get beaten up for nothing.

I hope you can take this opinion with In to the grave one day. Really, I hope you will never get the chance to learn something different.

I say that because I'm a victim of this thimg that never happens. All I did (wrong) we as holding my iPad under the arm. Then a group of 6 Thais on motorbikes showed up and beaten me nearly to death. I had to make 45 stitches to the head and had 2 broken fingers.

I have to be a really bad guy to hold my iPad. Don't I? I probably really deserve this kind of treatment for that scandalous behaviour.

BTW, it wasn't Pattaya or Phuket or Nana. It was the quiet Suk Soi 50.
