  1. To A mod: I asked this in the border run alternatives quest but I'm afraid it doesn't get attention there so I ask again here.

Sorry if this has been answered but I went through the last pages and didn't find the answer.

How is the situation actually with border runs? Im German, arrived on a 60 day tourist visa and extended it for 30 days. Can I make a visa exempt entry at Poi Pet or Aranjapratheet at the moment with this (short) history? Thanks for answers.

To the typical flamer who thinks everyone who do this is a bad person, yes I will stay here with the right visa, soon. I will marry soon here and wait for a document needed by German embassy that my parents send by post. It has not arrived yet so I want to get 30 days more

  2. To a mod: please.move this to an own topic if its the wrong place here.

  3. Urge foreigners to NEVER buy or eat so called "street food" in Bangkok. Its poison ! As well as encouraging more congestion on sidewalk,or,it appears on the actual road now!

Sorry but that's really a very crazy thing to say... I eat from them now more than 8 years, many times on a daily basis. I never, not once, had problems with my stomach or anything related to bad food.

And no, it's not because my stomach is so robust.

  4. I am a victim.

A group of young Thais (around 18 to 22 I guess) wanted to have my new iPad. First it was only one motorbike with 2 ppl on it. I walked in Suk soi 50 to go to 7-11 as they approaching me on motorbike and asking to get my iPad.

I just walked further and didn't give them of course. They stopped and got of the bike starting a fight. I fought back and they got scared and.went away on motorbike.

I thought I'm lucky and went to 7-11. Already forgot about the incident and walked home. Suddenly I heard something from behind and looked back. Then it made boom and they hit me with an iron bar to head. Seems they were hiding in the bushes.

Same.minute 3 other motorbikes came and I was surrounded by 6 Thais. All with iron bars. They hit on me like crazy, shouting like wild animals. After getting 4 or 5 hits to the head blood spread all over my head but that didn't make them stop. They just got more angry and hit me everywhere.

I threw the iPad to the ground and all 6 stormed to it and fled on their bikes.

This attack was.filmed by 4 CCTV and my manager from apartment helped me go to police with it.

Guess what was the outcome? Nothing. Even they had the numbers of at least 2 bikes, nothing happened to them. At least I think so because police never contactede again after.

I went to hospital with last powers I had, there I got 45 stitches to my head and 2 broken fingers were treated.

    That's my story...

  5. One has to go through immigration in the other country, as people said already. One cannot stay in transit and tae the next plane. Thai immigration wants a stamp from the country one comes from.

That beeing said, i usually did this "border-flight" with 2 seperate airlines via KL. Fly there with Thailionair and fly back with Air Asia. But its really tricky, you have not much time. If the arriving plane is late then you could get problems.

Last time i did this (in January this year) i had around 1 hour to checkout, check back in and all that. But there was so many people on the counter that i had to ask if they let me checkin before them. Otherwise i would have missed the plane.

So, its possible but you have to take seperate airlines probably.

  6. I never had a problem telling the officers that im looking for a job... on visa exempt. I wonder how someone would get a B Visa for jobhunting...

Last time i got questioned why im here so long without visa i told him that i couldnt find a job yet and im looking for more opportunities. Also i get married soon. He asked me then what job i want and i just said im Webdeveloper (what is true) and he said something like "Oh, nice. Good luck".

Something like this happened not only once to me.

  7. You don't get beaten up for nothing.

I hope you can take this opinion with In to the grave one day. Really, I hope you will never get the chance to learn something different.

I say that because I'm a victim of this thimg that never happens. All I did (wrong) we as holding my iPad under the arm. Then a group of 6 Thais on motorbikes showed up and beaten me nearly to death. I had to make 45 stitches to the head and had 2 broken fingers.

I have to be a really bad guy to hold my iPad. Don't I? I probably really deserve this kind of treatment for that scandalous behaviour.

BTW, it wasn't Pattaya or Phuket or Nana. It was the quiet Suk Soi 50.

  8. It depends on your country and embassy.

Im german and 3 weeks ago i asked for the requirements for the METV. They gave me many options.

    1. Show last bank statement. This can be printed on the same day and only the current amount is important. They dont want to see the last months/weeks before. I asked 3 times if this is really true and yes, it is in this consulate.

    2. Show bank statement of a parent, girlfriend, husband or anything like this, In this case i need a letter from the account owner too where he guarantee that he know about it

    3. Bring 5000 Euro to embassy and they make a picture

Nr 4 i forgot, but there was one more. I will look again later

The only other thing they want is a return ticket. Can be a train or bus ticket too that leads out of the country

  9. Good one Mr Taxi driver, hope you get a reward thumbsup.gif

Yes, it is heart-warming to read of such honesty and kindliness. I hope that this good taxi-driver got more than just a hug from the HK man. If it were me, I would have given him a couple of thousand baht to express my appreciation. Honesty like this needs to be praised and encouraged.

Yes, thats what i did too when same happened to me. I had something like this 3 times already here in Thailland. Knock on wood it stays like this, thankgod i can tell the story in this way now.

    1. Taxt driver in Sukumvit searches me because i forgot my new iPhone in his taxi.

He drove around Nana to look for me until he found me and gave me back my newly bought iPhone 4 (some years ago). He got 1000 Baht from me

    2. Honest gasonline-station worker

I arrived in my Apartment (at that time) in Huay Kwang Area, in Pratcharat Bamphen Road that day, went to the gas station to buy a coke, since thats nearer than the 7/11. As it was the first day i arrive i didnt change my Euro to Baht yet and had around 5000 Euro in my moneybag.

Of course, i lost it in the gasstation, while walking the steps to inside. I went to work in Phayathai for 6 hours, there i saw im missing my money and nearly went crazy. I dont have credit cards or other ways to get money that time. So i was in realy trouble,

I thought that maybe i loose it in gas station and went there again (7 hours later). I was 100m away still and already a worker run to me and gave me my money back.... Not one Euro missing. I gave him around 2500 Baht (70 Euro at that time). He nearly start crying because he was so thankful. That made my day

    3. Near Lao Border at Ubon Ratchatani in a supermarket

I put my money bag and both mobiles on a cupboard inside the supermarket because i wanted to get an item some rows up and needed both hands. Of course after finished get it i forgot to pickup my things... my girlfriend payed that time so i didnt see i lost/forgot my money.

After some hours searching everywhere in that places i was meanwhile i went back to the supermarket agan and same like at gas station, a worker woman cam out running to me, with my belongings in hand. Not one Baht missing again. I gave her 1k Baht

Im german and things like this happened to me in germany too. Not even one time i got my money back there. Not once...

Thats my 2 cent about THais beeing crooked

  10. Well there are many different rules. And every country handles it different. For that reason i dont think it's an advice that comes from Thailand.

Even for the METV in some Thai consulates in germany you can prove in many ways the 5000 euro on bank requierment.

I just asked her yesterday what ways there are and this was the answer:

    1. Show last bank account amount

    2. Bring 5k and they will make a pic of it

    3. Bring bank account paper from a parent

    4. Bring bank account paper from wife

    5. Bring bank account paper from any family member

Some other consulates want 3 month in row bank account papers. And account on and so on...

  11. I would tape it... I had exactly the same problem just that the page with the scratch was on a completely empty page with no data written on it.

After a while a small piece was torn out (1 cm, maybe not even that). Believe me, you won't want to have the problem that came up because of this. I better had taped it... because arriving at airport with this they didn't want to accept it and wanted to deny entry to Thailand.

  12. You can do it but be ready to explain your intentions if you have a lot of back to back entries.

I did this some times in the last year without much problems. But the last "border-fly" (December 2015) they took me to the immigration office boss at airport to explain why im in Thailand already 200 days with visa exempts. But he was friendl, i could explain that i will be getting married soo n and that i change to marry visa next time. Then i showed him Western Union money recieve statements to proove tham im not working in THailand and he was ok with it (he didnt want to see it, i showed him prior to be asked).

  13. no low class people anywhere

.... I don't know what you referring to as low class people but it doesn't sound good. I hope not one of that low class people has to save your ass one day.

I'm Happy to be under low class people in huay kwang (Thais) because they more feel like family and help each ither than the high nosed snobs who think they can buy everything with money.
