1. a) I know of no legal or regulatory restrictions regarding loans from a foreigner to a Thai national residing in Thailand.

    B) I have seen posts about foreigners having a house built in their name and subsequently owning it, on land they leased or of which they were the beneficiary of a usufruct.

Does anybody know about a foreigner buying an existing house in his name?

many thanks Maestro for understanding my post and for responding as you have done.

I might add for others that my relationship is not a new one - i have known this woman many years - this is not relevant to my question.

You are like all the rest if the Fools cant be told, why cant she go to the bank to pay back her Parteners half only about 1 mill, iff not wait for a few years she will have gone by then, good luck you nead it.

  2. We went to siam Commerical bank Eight Weeks ago to try to gat a small loan 600,000 baht, we have half a Rai of empty land that we wanted to use to borrow against, they ask my Wife what her income was and she had to say Zero because we are just starting a new venture, so I said that I have a UK Pension about 30,000 Thai Baht a Month, well we got the loan today at 6.5 % over 5 years, I hope this mite help others, :D:D:D

  3. Lucky Larry: I have been married to my Thai wife for 21 years we have a 17 year old Daughter.

If you have more than one wife, then I can see why you would use a modifier to distinguish your wife. But why call her a Thai wife if you only have one? Is she somewhat lesser than a normal wife? Unless you are using the stereotypical connotation of "Thai Wife" that you mention later in your post.

"Like it or believe it not, most of the Ladies !!! who marry Farangs have come from or have worked in Bars Clubs ect."

Also why does every guy that has been married to a Thai national who is from a good background, think that everyone besides himself is married to a Bar Girl?

Sounds like another pompous statement of "I am better than everyone else. "

I will agree that it seems that many foreigners in Thailand marry women from more rural and economically poor backgrounds, but the other statement is just plain stereotyping and ignorant.

    OP.

    Good luck.

You will without a doubt have a long road to climb to go through all of the paperwork and things. It will either bring both of you much closer and stronger or it will divide you. That is life though and happens to any marriage or relationship no matter the ethnic or cultural backgrounds.

The only thing that I would worry about is her adjustment and feeling of alienation that she might experience in your home country. I hope that her skills as an office worker can be fully utilized in your country. Many times having a good job and feeling accomplished keep equality in the relationship. You might want to think about staying in Thailand if she cannot find good work in your country.

    Good luck again.

Well unless you have your head where the sun dont shine, most Farangs that marry Thai Woman do meet them there future wives in Bars or such like, where do you think that they stumble upon each orther, iff there future Wives do infact come from proper employment, Factory, store, or any form of work where is a record of wages, then the Visa problem is no problem, my wife comes from Esan she used to work as a waitress in a Hotel, wages just 2000 baht per month, but she had worked there for three Years, her visa for the U k was granted same Day that she applied for it, No job, no bank Acc, and then it is not easy and for good reason

  4. One thing to add: The irish consulate in bangkok and indeed the irish nationalisation and immigration service are incompetent beyond belief. To get married you will need an affidavit from them. This will take 5 weeks. When it comes to applying for a tourist visa it takes 6 weeks. As an example applying for a german tourist visa takes 5 days and an Aussie took us 4 days. Absolute disgrace and im irish (ashamed).

That is lucky, it gives you time to think about i,t you know what they say Love or Lust is Blind.

  5. Like it or belive it not, most of the Ladies !!! who marry Farangs have come from or have worked in Bars Clubs ect. would you Marry a Girl from the red light District in you on Country ? think about it I have lived in Thailand fo 22 years + many Holidays before that I must have known at least one hundred guys that have tried the bar girl marrige, at least 90% have lost it all House,Car, Cash, above all there sanity. A good guidline is if thet jump in to your bed in lets say less than six months alarm bells must ring, No I dont hate Thai woman or desant Thai Men, i have been married to my Thai wife for 21 years we have a 17 year old Daughter, I have been here a long time and seen to many Nightmares. Jjust dont jump in to quick, if your girl friend works in an office she will not nead your Mums cash to get her Visa, all she has to do is show a letter from her Boss and her Bank statments that is about all it takes, Good Luck ( Just to end, in your own Country do you have give your Girlfriend Wages ? ) Try not giving any here see how long they stay The Truth Hurts

  6. As much as I try to say something very good about KG school is hard, This is true, what I am going to tell you is true, Ask King Nong, my Daughter was 15 at the time, If they the kids took there Phones to School they had to leave it with the Teacher that was fine, untill we got a call to go and see king Nong he had looked at all the pictures on her phone and there was one of a boy at Land and House swimming pool in his swimming trunks he Nong said this was not allowed that she had this sort of things on her phone, About six mths later he the K called us again and told us that she was seen with her friends in Boys company in central and if she was seen again she would have to leave the School, going back to when she was just thirteen years old she was caned on the behind by a Thai Teacher for not finishing her Thai homework , worse than the caning she was told the Day before that she was going to be caned next day at 1300 I think that is a form of mental punisment, once again the phone call but this time k Nong said that he was sorry it should not have happend, You can say why stay there but where else she started of at Dalasmut School but use the Can more, Well we took her out of the KG School and she has jut finshed School in Bangkok private, to me expensive one year all in around with her room about Eight Hundred Thousand Baht was it better not sure, I think not much better yes she will get her bits of paper but dont they all, They charged thirty thousand Baht to Mark the final exams the told that they had to send them to England still waiting for there return in October, Sorry to have gone on so much but we have a Family Buisness so my Daughter can have that if it was up to a Thai School 7/11 or Tesco, ( Thai Schools Are Just Not Good Enough ) Dont wast your time taling about my speling or gramer I know Thx. A soda purchase from a corner store may end up having the liquid poured into a plastic bag, and then topped off with a plastic straw. There is no plastic bag yet that could fit a car, but if there was one country that could come up with one, Thailand would probably be it.

But here in the capital, local authorities have restarted a campaign to wean the residents of the Thai capital from their plastic bag 'addiction'.

For the second year in a row, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is holding its 45-day 'No Bag, No Baht' project, which offers consumers a one-baht (three U.S. cents) discount for every 100 baht (nearly three dollars) purchase if they use their own cloth bags when shopping in several local markets. Meanwhile, each plastic bag will cost them one baht.

This year's BMA campaign was launched on Jun. 5, World Environment Day. Last year, the campaign targeted a cutback of 4.4 million plastic bags among Bangkok consumers. This year, BMA authorities want a cutback that is three times that figure.

BMA figures show that every day, more than 600,000 plastic bags are used in this city of nine million people.

Their annual disposal cost reaches more than 600 million baht (18.4 million dollars), city officials have said. Local media have quoted BMA deputy governor Porntep Techapaibul as saying that of the city's daily 10,000 tonnes of trash, about 1,800 tonnes are plastic bags, a number projected to increase by about 20 percent each year.

By now, many Bangkok residents have heard of the health and environmental hazards posed by plastic bags. Made from a non-renewable natural resource, petroleum, the bags have for their main ingredient polyethylene — or polythene — which is said to take 1,000 years to decompose on land and 450 years in water.

Story continues: ipsnews.net
-- IPS
2010-06-28

footer_n.gif
