  1. Phil if youre located in pattaya or phuket you pay premium for sure.

Robblok my fiancees cousin is a contractor in CM and often have projects in BKK as well. They charge 500 Baht per day for a tiler 15sqm wall should be done in one or two days depending on how much extra work is required. He himself pays his tilers about 300 baht per day.

  2. When you sell the car make a reciept and take a copy of your bluebook. Go to your bank with the money and your documents deposit into your account and transfer the money where ever you like if they need to know where the money comes from give them the documents and youre done...

I have done it and several of my frie ds have done it...only one out of six had to show any documents.

Its only 300k a friend of mine transferred 43M two weeks ago...guess what no problem.

  3. Many also have a tendency to brake of a piece of coral as a memorabilia. How I wish most countries would copy the cuban regulation for this penalty for breaking regulations which can give a fine from 1000 usd and up to 5 years in prison. To protect these marine enviroments.

Regarding the other their regulations are to weak...put harder regulations on the business owners.

  4. Yeah its quite odd,

However I know from reading the news in thai that this is something that has been pushed to the government

by the car manufacturers who build cars in thailand that suffered from the floods... with Toyota on point...so dont buy Toyota!

I guess this is so that the car manufacturers dont move their factories away from thailand...after all this government is far from brilliant.

however I feel, its not the end of the world as we know it because...

cars not included in the ban are: (drumrole please)

Convertibles, Coupes, Stationwagons and 6/7-seated vans, suv's, crossovers and panel trucks.

So I can still bring in my spyker c8 convertible and my Range rover....if I had the money to buy them in the first place :)

or did I miss something here?

  5. Also consider people who buy houses and stuff is not calculated in this considering it doesnt go under tourism so foreign capital to the thai economy in total would if you include Business visa holders, and foreign citizen with residential permits then you are looking att much higher figures than 7% I wouldnt be suprised if it was closed to 20-25% or higher this is me guessing of course. This not counting Multinational company investments...

You think farang paying for sick buffalo and buying houses in Isaan is generating about 70 billion dollars a year? Yeah I don't think so

not generating but turning around 70 billion dollar per year yes quite possibly GNP doesnt account for pure profit but revenue. and im not only talking about people buying a house for their wife and not only farang buying

houses but also other asians (chinese, korean, japanese, Sinagaporean), arabs and such wealthy individuals investing and establishing businesses in thailand. agreed maybe my estimates where a little high but I know a group of farang living in thailand with a joint revenue well over 2 billion baht alone and there are tens of thousands if not more of wealthy foreigners living in thailand besides my connections. Im not saying this is the 20-25% would total income or revenue in Thailand but of the accounted revenue ie what is counted in the GNP we all know most small business owners in thailand dont even have bookkeeping, but some still can turn over millions every year and hence their income is not presented in the GNP.

  6. Side note.....Thailand has one of the highest per capita ownership of Mercedes Benz cars of any country in the world, excluding bizarre middle east countries floating in oil....

I saw what I'm pretty sure was a Bentley Continental GT parked in the 'visitors' parking spot of my apartment building a few days ago. It had two small 'thai crest' type badges on the front grill. These cars cost a whole load of money to buy in Europe, never mind in Thailand with all the import duty, etc. At a guess I'd say they would cost $300-400,000 in Thailand, kind of puts the Merc owners in their places I guess.

Who knows, this being Thailand it could have been a hand made copy.

actually you counting to low just like kufki said...you have to add about 300% of the purchase price on a car like this so if its 250,000US then your looking at a million US for it in thailand. they got serious taxes on imported cars but I wouldnt say most of them are copies

  7. The tourism generated 585 Billion I think this an example where things got lost in translation. which means average tourist spent 37,000 Baht and sounds about right.

8. Being banged-up in Klong Prem prison...surely not as nice as an apartment in Oslo...tough way to learn the world is not all like Sweden. Only 29 and wanted to live the life...should have come for holidays only and done any dealing (if any) in Sweden to finance them.

you sound very eloquent besides that Oslo is the Capital of Norway.

I dont doubt that he was making the drug to sell in which he chose one of the worst countries in the world to do so when talking penalty wise....but does he deserve the death penalty...I dont think so.

Zero tolerance to drugcrime might look good on paper but in the real world seems a bit hard....one mistake and your dead...not very humane!
