Tourist Boat Crew Member's Shocking Act Sparks Outrage in Thailand

Brown trout. Fairly easy to hook and they don't put up much of a fight. Wearing gloves is highly recommended. -
Kuwaiti Tourist Apologises for Obscene Act on Pattaya Balcony
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
With so many stories about "Kuwaiti tourists" as of late (I'm pretty sure they don't do this stuff at home), I reinterate my idea that the RTP Immigration Bureau insitute a 72 hour visa for Kuwaiti nationals with a 24 hour hold at the airport to ensure that they had not committed any funny business in the Kingdom before or other countries. After they clear the 24 hold, they are free to travel in Thailand. -
Bangkok moonshine death toll rises to 4, 28 in critical condition
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Years ago when we were in Hua Hin we were walking the beach south of the city. Some vendors had some chairs and tables set up up right next to water on the beach. Since we were on our walkabout, stopping for a cocktail seemed nice. Ordered SangSom coke, song (we were the only people at this shop) As I brought the glass up to a drink I smelled something odd and then I recponized it on taste, toilet bowl cleaner. I raised wholly hell and the owner came down on the beach to show me the SangSom pint bottle (that had obviously been used many, many times). My wife also concurred and dressed him down in Thai. Not only did we refuse to pay for the poisin, we threatened to call the police which was met non-stop wais from the couple. Will never forget that day and since we were walking we didn't need bottle service. In the future, just bring my own SangSom with me and order Coke song. To this day I can still smell that nasty drink. -
Thailand likely detects a new, more dangerous mpox variant
sumongkhwai replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Really shouldn't be much of an issue in Thailand as transmission only occurs via skin to skin contact i.e. an infected person must have physical contact with another person. A couple of years there was an outbreak in the States (I want to say less than a dozen or so) who all were on board the same gay cruise ship, go figure. Still think it's funny that they had to change the name from monkey pox to mpox so as not offend the monkeys. Well, how do you think the chickens feel after all these years, or cows for that matter? -
Thai women fight Kuwaiti tourists in Soi Bangla, Phuket - video
sumongkhwai replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
What is up with all the Kuwaiti tourist stories of late? Racing motobikes, fighting locals etc. Maybe the RTP Immigration Bureau could limit the Kuwaiti visas to 72 hours with 24 hour hold over for proper clearance.- 70 replies

British Tourist Assaulted and Robbed on Bangla Road in Patong
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Read twice trying to find the "shocking incident" with no luck. Years ago my wife bought me a 5 Baht bracelet that I rarely wear for reasons such as this. I also have a sweatband to cover it if I'm going somewhere safe. She also bought me a 4 Baht necklace for the Buddha that her family gave me when we got married that I always wear and keep covered unless we're at a beach at an all inclusive guarded resort. (We also stopped doing the late night bar scene years ago so, not out and about in the middle of the night and, as far as I know, ASPs are not illegal in Thailand) And, if they want my Timex, they can have it! (although it has kept time quite well over the years) -

Thai beauty queen sparks online drama over airline seat
sumongkhwai replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Maybe she is an "influencer" and gets some mindless dolts to send her money for "likes". One hundred baht here and another one hundred baht there adds up (we were camping once and the lobotomy crew next to us were on "swithch" filming everything they did- every time I brought over my big AmStaff and they put him on camera they got like $2, $3, $5-$10 from people just laying on their couch watching other people live their lives- really freakin' weird) -
Outrage Sparked in Thailand Over Apple's 'Out of Office' Advert
sumongkhwai replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's been a few years but, when the brother-in-law isn't available to pick us up from BKK we take the "express" bus (only like a dozen stops) from Mo Chit to Lopburi to see family. The buses are beaters but, I generally enjoy the ride (and a small bottle of SangSom helps out a bit). We've also taken the train from Ayutthaya (visiting family and I really enjoy the museums and archeological sites although my wife has had her fill on my history lessons about Thailand) to BKK and those train too are beaters, no A/C etc. but, I enjoys the ride and the scenery. There are parts of Thailand that haven't changed in the last 20-40 years which is probably why it's considered a developing nation I reckon. I haven't seen the Apple video yet, will need to check it out. -
Thai beauty queen sparks online drama over airline seat
sumongkhwai replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"She urged everyone to avoid further drama and mentioned her willingness to take legal action if necessary." Legal action against who? Either you bought the ticket and should have known what you bought or someone else bought it for you and you just "assumed" it was a Qsuite. I highly doubt you spent $B400,000 and thought you were getting a Qsuite (I belive, although not mentioned, that Qatar is the only airline with the Qsuite) which is considerably more. Anyway, wishing you well in your legal battles as I guess you have to do something to stay relevant once you're past your prime. Good luck. -

NZ brothers return home after 4 months in Thai custody for assault
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Wow, I reckon things must be a be different under the Southern Cross. In the States and most other countries with armed officers if you try and take their weapon you'll be shot if not tasered. These two blokes are just lucky there wasn't a motorbike taxi stand nearby. I reckon they've set up their GoFundMe page to pay for their holiday. Banana peelers.- 104 replies

British yoga teacher stranded in Bangkok airport over passport tear
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Maybe there are heaps of British and other European countrymen/women trying to "sneak" into India? -
Agreed. Fortunately for us, the temple in my wife's village is far enough away that when we do sleep with the windows open (no air con on) I can hear them start at around 4:00am. But, given that the father-in-law comes round at 5:00am and I'm up making coffee not that big of a bother. Now, if we lived closer it might be a bit much.

Thailand's Airports Reach Record Highs with 52.16 Million Passengers
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm going to have to change my schedule then. Always took the red eye out of LAX at 1:30 am, 2 hour layover in Taipei and the brother-in-law picked us up at BKK at 10:30 am. Really helped with jet lag, leaving at night sleeping along the way and get there in the morning. But now, it seems like all these flights come in the morning so immigration is packed. I'm happy to come in at night and hire a private van to take us to our house but, it messes with my jet lag plan, oh well. -
British Couple Outraged Over £9 Tin of Heinz Beans in Thailand
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I shop with my wife twice a month at a small Khmer market near our house in California. Everything has to be imported and is ridiculously expensive but, happy wife.... There are also heaps of Vietnamese markets nearby as well so she can get all her produce needs met there. It's just the the various sauces and what not that the Knmer market carries (and I love their mangoes!) that she just loves. Can't get out of there for unders $US100. -
Russian Tourist Detained for Disruptive Behaviour in Phuket Hotel
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Doesn't matter where I'm from and where in the world do you get the dumb idea that I was advocating the death penalty? I was just making a joke that he could have jumped in the pool. I have never claimed to be perfect (don't know where you got that from either) and generally, I stay above board with a good buzz. Jeez mate, I was making a joke. Take a nap and go find something else to be offended about. Sheesh. -

Drunken Bar Brawl Leads to Scotsman Being Hit by Car in Pattaya

Inebriated Scotsman, isn't that a tad redundant? And, not sure why they calling the other guy his "friend". Maybe just another inebriated Scotsman lending a hand so to speak? -
British Tourist Injured in Gang Attack on Bangla Road, Patong
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Nothing ever good happens at 4:00 am. I'm sure the Brit was pissed and then got into it with a local or two. One thing I learned long before my wife taught me is that when you fight a Thai you are fighting 9 not just one. Keep your head down, ignore the comments and keep moving. I can swear rightly in Thai but, my wife has always told never to do so and I respect her advice (aside from the fact I'm getting to old to scrap with people a third of my age although I could probably take them but with knives and guns and what not, just stay quiet, plus we're pretty much done with the past 12:00 am bar scene, nothing but trouble- mostly for me!)- 146 replies

Bangkok Chaos: Pickup Plummets From 4/FL Hospital Car Park
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
She couldn't find any empty spot so, she made one. The idea of "pedal confusion" doesn't seem to really work here as she was able to stop her truck once it was properly in it's parking spot. The nonsensese of another vehicle driving to close is going to be a hard sell with no vehicles on the CCTV and she's on a one way ramp. I'm thinking she just got frustrated at lack of parking and took care of it herself. -
American Man Arrested For Assaulting Girlfriend With Golf Club
sumongkhwai replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
As someone else mentioned, in the States it's called Roid Rage and can bring on physchotic behavoir. He seems to fit the bill. Surprised the stand off ended wiyhout him attacking the police. Well, for this "influencer", visa canceled and next flight seems to be proper. I doubt a 500 baht fine will get him out of it. -
