  1. When the Orchid closed to retile the pool I used Ratilanna for a few months. It was very nice, but a bit small causing minor waiting to use equipment. The pool is beautiful but limited space to swim laps because of the bar and the ramp access. Nicest towels I've ever seen in a gym though.
  2. Orchid gym is very quiet during the pandemic, but was a place where most of the members were retired guys before. I've been a member for about 15 years, decent equipment, nice pool, lounges and umbrellas. There are only two staff on duty now but they're open 07:00 to 19:00. Joe, the manager told me today Sept. 28, that the pool would probably open October 1. Because it is part of the hotel amenities, it isn't high pressure for them to make money.
  3. If your wife cheats on you, Leave!! Do not kill her, get out of Dodge, hit the road Jack, Adios Amigo!
  4. I assume that I will be asked if I have already had a vaccine when I go for Moderna. I may have to lie.
  5. Same for me Canada wants to see that we have two jabs of the same vaccine to return. I got the Sinovac and then the Astra. I have two Moderna ordered and paid for, the only way I can meet Canadian requirements is to get another Astra jab, or take the Moderna jabs. If, I repeat if, the Thai medical system allows. Tell you what, I'll sign a waiver, give me the Moderna jabs I paid for.
  6. Fortunaetly for me, I haven't wasted too much time learning Thai. I can just start learning Chinese so I'll be ready for the influx.
  7. I have had Sinovac and AstraZeneca. I am not looking at Moderna as a booster because my country will not accept a combination for return travel. I will take both Moderna shots at the proper interval. I would like to buy a couple for my Thai wife, she has only had two Sinovac jabs.
  8. I paid for two doses as well, and they were slated to arrive this year. The service charge for the hospital to administer the vaccine was also prepaid.
  9. So basically the unvaccinated rate is dropping like a stone, because the unvaccinated are.
  10. If your wife is anything like my wife, it is all about security. Land is better than money in the bank.
  11. I'll have the teen meal, cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate shake please
  12. Reminds me of the scene in the movie Paint Your Wagon. The town has been undermined by villains collecting the last of the gold, collapses into the ground and everyone flees.
  13. I came to Thailand in 2005, I had never owned a cellphone until I bought one here. I bought it in case I got lost, and ended up losing two phones in less than two weeks.
  14. I have a flip phone, I can call my friends, they can call me. I have a computer at home. Works for me, which is what technology was meant to do.
  15. I don't have a smartphone, immigration wanted me to find my house on my smartphone, I gave them a business card with my coordinates printed on it, good enough. I'm not interested in the technology, turn my phone on when I leave the house, turn it off at 18:00 hrs. The main reason I don't have a smartphone is because they are too large, they won't fit in my pocket and I'm not about to carry a backpack just for a phone.
  16. No wonder Joe was so extravagant in his usage of plastic bags, 600 million baht and cars. All those plastic bags not good for the environment either. In some circles, that alone would be enough to hang him.
  17. In my opinion, as a former long haul truck driver, it's very safe. Hope that reassures you.
  18. My image of the Thai Police is perfectly preserved. Anyone remember the guy that allegedly hung himself with his socks in a cell?
  19. And the public, not expecting any better, will shrug their shoulders and say "what can you do".
  20. My Thai wife can't get vaccinated with anything but Sinovac, I have the Sinovac/AstraZeneca combination. Seems to me that the Thai people are being treated shabbily by their own government.
